You know Mr. S I think this is right up your street. I hope you get a chance to get a bottle and try it out. I would love to see your review on it. Cheers!!
Lanier, packed with information and inspiration as always. I have been silently willing you to try this since discovering your channel a few months ago. I grew up with this as it was my Dad's signature fragrance. I loved it on him, but as a teenager, felt it too grown-up to wear myself. After losing him in 2009, I rediscovered it a few years ago and finally felt able to start wearing it myself. Perhaps the loss of a parent immediately makes one quite grown-up enough... I look forward to your review. PS. Those photographs of all the 'Messieurs' in your own life are quite lovely.
There are several Monsieur de Givenchy on ebay, problem is- the bottles have changed and I can't know if the scent has as well. I really want to try, think I'll look for those with the bottle design you got. Cheers!
Excellent first-take Lanier and I look forward to the full-review. My spray bottle of Monsieur de Givenchy reminds me quite a bit of Chanel Pour Monsieur EDP...similar genre, and both have that Classic/Timeless gentlemanly feel. While I much prefer Pour Monsieur, I do enjoy wearing this one from time-to-time as well.
Givenchy from the good ol days! Magnifiscent :) Audrey is everything! Her and Hubert... mythological creatures! It aches my heart to see what horror Tisci is doing wit the brand today. Just awful... but at least we have the amazing movies and photos to remind us of Givenchy's holden times! Fabulous unboxing dear! Always the best! coco coco coco
greeting!!!!!! Chad here. l have a love/hate relationship with oakmoss. when it is blended well it a longevity's best friend, but if it is not blended well it seems to make "some" fragrances smell dated. this one sounds like it is blended very well, and lemon verbena is to die for. love it in lalique white. great find my friend! 👌
Hey Chad! It turns out that this bottle is from 1999 (thanks for the update Chris) and to me it smells classic and not dated if that makes sense. A timeless classic. So very elegant and pure. Cheers.
The storm bypassed Bowen to the south. Some power out in the cove but not too bad. I wanted to mention that I do have MdG reformulated Les Parfums Mythiques. I love it! It's a great variation of this classic masterpiece. It's better to create a variation of a piece of art rather than try to make a replica of something that once was.You experience the scent as it is! I CANT WAIT!!! Lol
There is a more recent bottle in a spray EDT that I discovered a few years back for sale at airports here in UK. I just found it on Amazon so have added it to my list. I do love those 'Classic' smells!
This video was fantastic! You've really made me want to explore givenchy perfume and try this, you mentioned you got it in eBay Do you know if that's the only place it's available? I love the old style bottle too. Your videos are always so so informative and I love learning from them, thank you! Another great video!
Eva darling it is always a treat when you stop by. Thank you so much for your very kind words. I did a bit of research for you. There is a newer version out there in a tall bottle you can get on Amazon but I doubt it is vintage. There are some vintage bottles on Ebay the the price ranges from $60 (US) to $600 (US) for a bottle claiming to be from the 1960's . I would never pay that for a bottle of anything on Ebay. But it is interesting to see it there and it looks authentic...but then... LOL. Cheers Luv!
I know, such a simple beauty it is. You can see the same bottle design in Breakfast At Tiffany's when Audrey spritzes herself with L'interdit (that she keeps in her mailbox!) when she is on her way out to visit Sally Tomato at Sing-Sing Prison. Cheers!
This is a real catch Lanier!!! Since the beautiful box has a bar code on the bottom, that means it was produced in the 90's. The batch code number I checked said that it was made in 1999. Unlike our GIII which has no bar code was produced in 1978. This was a score! The fragrance rules were changed in 2007 to take out the oakmoss and preserve the sandalwood. I don't think this formulation has changed much since 1959. And a splash bottle is rare to boot! This bottle is near 17 years old. Good enough! Fabulous informative video dear Sir!!! Well done again.
Thanks to your vigilant eye Chris I got this beauty. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and for your update on my bottle. Cheers (Is the storm hitting you guys up there? We are drenched.)
