no crane, no GRCS, just alot of work. mostly crumbling top on an Elm over 150 years old, about 70-80ft tall, just as wide, with a DBH a bit over 5ft in a tight spot. it took 2 long days and alot of rigging to put this beast on the ground. R.I.P. always a shame to see such a once majestic tree layed to rest.

Good job, love it. Pretty sure I saw a blake on the first day of this video : ) Not everyone can do these jobs gracefully. They were wise to hire you.

If that old Elm wasn't dead, it was at least "Pining for the fjords", as they say... Elm is good stove wood or fuel wood. Not good for the fireplace as it hisses & pops and stinks like the bejesus. That would have been enough firewood to heat my house for a couple of years! Nice job on the rigging. Great vid.

thanks, i contract out clean ups. it's kind of rare to have drive way access to the backyard around the boroughs in NYC. i think my guy had a back hoe pick up and roll out huge chunks to a container. thank god, cause otherwise it takes forever to cut things up small enough to be taken through the house or basement :p

Hey just curious for those larger pieces that were rigged what size rope were you using?
@LawrenceSchultz3000
@LawrenceSchultz3000 9 лет назад
was using a 5/8" and a 9/16" stable braid ropes for everything. should have went with bigger ropes but that's what i had at the time...

no kiddin, i'm based in Brooklyn, NY which is where the job was too, so not much demand for firewood, guess u can tell by my ignorance of BTU's :p most large wood around here goes to a tub grinder & mulched, some makes it too brick oven restaurants & upstate for burning
