Watching a friend Fight the Magnamalo in the demo is like watching a crackhead battle a hurricane, you know they’ll lose, but you have faith either way.
I absolutely love how Magnamalo has a ton of titles and they are all one scarier than the other. *The Malice Wyvern* *The Barbarous Beast* *The Hellfire Beast* *The Great Evil* *Devourer of the Rampage*
Imagine if they add a new quest for Magnamalo in the full game with the same level as the one in the demo. 15 mins, G-rank level damage since everyone already have HR armor.
This monster has everything a great flagship monster should have. Threatening design Ominous and amazing soundtrack Punishing and hard to read moveset that however rewards you when you learn it.
@@fimtendo654 I highly doubt he'll be that difficult in the full game. He got the same treatment that Valstrax and all the other advanced demo monster hunts did. Plus, in game you'll get your own armor and weapons. Can't wait to fight him with a bow once I fully learn that moveset. His hellfire is a monster.
So basically magnamalo is a zinogre, teostra, brachydios, velkhana, glavenus and nergigante combination that mastered the samurai arts and fused with a saber tooth tiger
when i first heard this, i was blindsided by how... _mournful_ it sounds in places, especially the chorus. i find myself whistling it all the time. absolutely iconic theme
I once used a Rathian to damage a Mizutsune in the demo and then said Mizutsune ran away and the Rathian tried to attack me. Words can't describe how fast I rode away on my palamute.
you don't often see a flute lead like this, but they did so very well. it strikes a moody, mournful tone that makes it feel like you're taking on some ender of worlds, a creature who's brought unknowable amounts of strife. and it's not that far off. S tier song
i heard or read, dont know if this is truth or not, that since this game presents for the first time dialogues from the hunters, they tried to convey this in the ost, and the voices that we heard are those of the hunters and the flute is the monster, what we are hearing is the fight against magnamalo, maybe the rampage of 50 years ago
this song has a strong feeling towards this beasts intelligence, almost like its not just something with survival instincts, but something far greater that gives it the ability to control the fires of hell
I totally agree. Doesn't even sound like a monster theme, sounds more like a rival theme. There's a great dramatic tension during the entire theme. I feel like this hunt won't be a normal fight, there's something far greater around Magnamalo
@@a_tarasevich and with every game having a hidden monster, the many hints to something serpent like, and with magnamalo with high intelligence. it will be interesting to see what comes of rise
@@unamusedrowlett6303 ooh with the new monster introductions im happy to see that nargacuga and zinogir is arriving. and with the demo getting a chance to tangle with Magnamalo. wish I had a switch
@@march.7561 They both actually has a lot of connections(NOT similarity): Sure, they both fanged wyvern, and they combo you like hell. That's where the similarity ends. Zinogre and Fulgurbugs benefits from each other. Magnamalo gets its hellfire from devouring other monsters(One-side benefit). Zinogre resembles wolf. Magnamalo resembles tiger. Zinogre flees from an Elder. Mangamalo USED the Elder to gather more power.
@@march.7561 I’m a month late, but magnamalo also utilizes the nergigante skeleton, which is the valtrax skeleton, which is the gore magala skeleton, the way you can tell is the down animation for all of them
I hope Magnamalo stays in the Monster Hunter franchise. His fight is just as much fun as Zinogre and just imagine a variant/sub-specie of him! I can't wait to see what attacks he gets when g-rank comes around.
Given how he behaves and how he can hold his own against Elders like Deviljho and Rajang, I think they'll repurpose Malo as another invader monster in future games.
@@d.sogeking8249 I’ve been around since MH1, and it’s been my favorite game series since! ❤️ But it’s always nice to meet people who recognize me. 😊 I hope you have a good day! ✨
@@SilverDreamweaver Trust me, the fact that you could last ONE minute is an achievement in on itself. Most people I've seen usually die in literal SECONDS.
Before: What a cute hellfire kitty After demo 2: HELLSPAWN ROCKET TIGER Edit: Finally defeated this guy wyvern riding is really convenient thanks rathian. Good luck with your hunts guys!
Seeing Magnamalo the first time: Cute demon samurai tiger. Actually fighting him: **Flash Step** **Spear Tail** *Rocket Jump** **Touch of Death** **Explosion** **15 Minute Timer** **Dive bombs** Also, I keep tradition that I don't actually kill him until full release. It doesn't feel right killing him before the story begins.
@@Konh-Minh I understand that sentiment. Sometimes I don’t want anything spoiled for me. On the other hand A fun way I look at it is like, if you beat him now, you have no excuse to not beat him later when you have gear, weapons, new moves, etc. so when you face him again it’s like, do you still have the fire within you? Like a rival coming back to fight you again because they think they can take you now. You have to defend your crown.
The claws of zinogre The tail of nargacuga The Sticky bombs of brachydios The spikes of nergigante The crown of teostra The Magnamalo is for sure a elder dragon level threat
Yeah I feel that as well. For me it feels like somebody who had a good past and was close, but unfortunately turned evil. It feels sad yet heroic at the same time. It's awesome what type of emotions music can activate. Gives my Demon Slayer vibes tbh.
Funny you call him a demonic samurai tiger, Last I checked his title was the “malice tiger wyvern”, and he’s specifically designed after traditional samurai who wear oni masks
I've always avoided the demos for these games, I want my first time fighting every monster to be me fighting these monsters, not the demo characters. Also, why bother playing the demo when you know you're going to love the next game in the franchise you've been playing since you were eight years old?
Agree, it was nothing short of a nuke with legs. It doesn't help it's so large some physical attacks have a range wide enough to stop you from fighting back. A hell of a fight, indeed.
"Magnamalo", I just looked up, comes from the Latin words "Magna"(which means Great) and "Malum"(which means Evil). Very fitting, considering its design and difficulty. Truly makes it a terrifying beast.
He is name is actually: Magna (Which means great in Latin) And Malo (Which means bad in Spanish) So his name means: Great bad, to make it more Badass we could translate it into: *The Great Evil*
If Malum means evil that also explains the name of Malos in XC2. Damn XC series is really full of these. Did you know that Monado comes from the word Monad? That means divine.
Ok, but Lunastra is more a copy of teostra than this to zino. At least to this day I don't see s difference between Luna and Two except their phenotype/gender. Well, first attempt and his attacks seem kinda predictable, but somehow not.... Why do we have so small health bar, tho
Magnamalo is a true bro, he saved me from teostra multiple times and he showed up to help me fight one of the final bosses. True bro to the end. Even if he kicked my butt lol
See, I think pre-Sunbreak me would’ve agreed. Magnamalo’s theme is unbelievable. Like literally, I would never have believed someone could come up with a theme like this. The chorus is stunning with the leading flute. But then Sunbreak releases and Malzeno’s theme outshines Magnamalo in the Seregios trailer alone with that gorgeous chorus of his.
i beat him first try but i also had the benefit of buying the cartridge that came with sunbreak and getting the op defender set. and even THEN, i only beat him because i had potions, mega potions, ez potions, and my palico is primarily a healer. his moveset is absolutely _punishing_ at times
I hammered him to death on my first try with no faints but the bastard made me burn all my heals on him. Such a hardcore badass beast, gonna try farm his set now
One thing I noticed while fighting him recently in some quests, is that the bastard can practically propel himself forward with his hellfire! And I love that
I would like to point out that the game heavily implies we never ACTUALLY kill Magnamalo. Where do I get this from? Look at the quests to hunt him. It always says *Hunt Magnamalo* not, *Hunt a Magnamalo.* Even in quests with other monsters it says (for example) *Hunt a Rathalos and Magnamalo* not *Hunt a Rathalos and a Magnamalo*! To me, this means one of two things. Either Magnamalo is the best monster actor in the world and fakes his death every single time, or, as I like to head canon, Magnamalo and the Hunter have a special... connection so to speak. What do I mean by connection? Well, in my experience, a similar thing happened with Ruiner Nergigante. A sort of... respect between equals. That look in their eyes' shows an intelligence beyond the instinct of an animal. We, as the Hunter, recognize this, and feel the same. It ends up culminating in this sort rivalry between man and monster. Every "hunt" is more of a spar between rivals. To constantly improve ourselves against each other. This is why Ruiner saved us from the Bazel in the Guiding Lands. HE is the only one who gets to fight us. While we haven't seen the same thing from Magna I like to imagine this is the case. Thoughts anyone?
Yes! My head cannon is that it's the same Magnamalo every time: fifty years ago in the first rampage, our first low-rank village urgent, then in low-rank guild, and then in high-rank. No matter how many times I 'kill' or capture him, he comes back stronger the next time. His otherworldly, hellish power probably allows him to evade death. He's the ghost or demon from hell that will haunt the village forever and forever
This started with gore. There was a respectable Rivalry between the hunter and gore in 4U. They keep recycling the trope every game. But it's a good trope, so I'm okay with it.
The first trailer came out around an hour before my granny’s funeral, i saw the trailer and it made me somewhat happy on such a horrible day, so i am very hyped for this one.
Normal Magnamalo: only fights Elder dragons when they cross its way. Scorned Magnamalo: actively hunts Elder Dragons. (Hunted so many EDs it can now use dragon element for some of its attacks)
Shout out to the samurai ghost tiger for: Kushala head break after we spent all that time on the tail, Toaster interference while our HH main paused to get their switch on the dock, Reminding Rathalos that even Dreadkings aught to know fear, Knocking the Khezu off the ceiling like a champ, and of course, proving that you don't have to be an elder dragon to put the fear of god in one. You misunderstood purple rage kitty. I only hunt you when the game makes me because you come in clutch when everything looks bleak. A true friend.... who sometimes carts our new hunter friends the first time but like, I can overlook that. No one's perfect.
A monster of malice and hate Creatures small and great fear the purple flame Leader of the rampage A monster of fear and terror It shall swallow the world whole The barbarous beast Magnamalo
This song is melancholic as hell but also way heroic, if you ask me this song represents a hero defending what they hold dear from a cunning and malevolent evil. Magnomalo fights because it wants to see death and destruction just as much as it fights for food, they’re like an armored explody land orca straight from the depths of hell.
Complete opposite I was paying too much attention to this theme because I don’t find the game hard I just like to vibe while hunting monsties and this has been my favourite just because of 1:13
I know magnamalo isnt a great design in terms of ecology and he is a bit over the top for me but man this was one of the best fights ive fought in a videogame. Especially with the music. The first time I fought this purple tiger will always stay in my heart.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much of this guy when I unlocked his hub fight a bit early and 4v1'd him. Then I got to his story fight. Instant favourite monster.
I mean... there is that one scene where Tai Lung wields fire in his hands while fighting Shifu. Roll up to this guy in the Bishaten set like I did and you've basically got that fight on crack.
He likely will. But that depends on the location and ecology of the new game I guess. Like we didn't get nergigante in Rise as well, since they are region based
I want to share my story here because it fits perfect last ten minutes of the hunt, afflicted magmadron. My join request didn’t work somehow and i started to struggle alone. Then, out of nowhere, I hear my favorite theme and my boy magna coming to help me, his theme filling me with the power of proof of a hero. Then, people started to finally join, all because of my man magnamalo. He gave me hope and power. We finished the hunt with like 4 minutes left, but still a close call
I love how the armor gives you the hellfire status effect, and by now you know how to use it well, so it's a buff, lmaoo 😆 and topples most monsters after two or three hellfires, and they happen really often, it's really op, with his insect glaive included. 😂
Magnamalo... samurai design.. bu tin reality.. a ronin with no master. Fighting and taking easy targets as prey. Using no honor and dirty tactics to get it's prey. And in reality... it shows in the end it has no master. The only reason this monster helps you in the final battle isn't to help you end the rampage it gets it's easy preys, but to defend the lands it has called it's home. Rampage or not... The ronin will defend the lands it wanders without a master, as it's loyality is to itself and the land.
Composer: "How do we make this song more satisfying? I know it's already good but it needs some..... Power" "The Dark Souls parry sound is the most satisfying noise I know lol, but we can't put that in there" Composer: 6:25
My 1st fight with this..... thing, resulted in me no carting it, I used dual blades demon flight to scale it's full torso while dealing damage and dodging conveniently. I would be lying if I didn't admit my hairs were on end the entire time. His claws and fangs growing back again sent chills
Finally I manage to defeate this dude on the demo with GS. Took me 11 minutes and 46 seconds of glorious combat. Cannont wait to the full game release in a week :)
