I honestly have no clue why they made the requirement for this quest MR24. They lost they minds. No one should be even attempting Alatreon until they’ve augmented their armors and weapons which takes a crazy amount of time grinding. People haven’t even beat Ruiner Nergigante and wondering why Alatreon is carting them nonstop. The requirement should be MR70 or 100 seeing as that he’s pretty much on the same level as tempered Elder Dragons in terms of strength.
Well, its worth it if you could solo, not only you are gettin better, but you are also learning n calculating the damage n etc... Basically there are alot of player outside there trying to solo this thing but they can't defeat alatreon, also don't give up ! I failed the quest around 7 or 8 times, trying to manage what armor and skills do i need to counter and calculate my element dps... But i manage completely to beat him and so on, farming his armor and right now i need to farm all of his weapon lol
If you are an LS user i think you could try this sets : -. Weapon = Kjarr Weapon with 1 slot deco - . Armor = 1 Set Safi -. Augment = Health Regen + Elem/Stat Effect Up -. Charm = Coal +3 -. Deco's n Skill = T. Dragonvein Awaken, Crit Element, Atk +7, Weak Exploit +3, Crit Boost +3, Vit +3, Agitator +5 or Elem Atk +6, Coal +3... Hope this help you in your hunt, Happy Hunting !
@@Ren014 I tried running coalescence but honestly I rather just have complete blight resistance. Only other change I'd make is to swap out weakness exploit for Crit eye 7 Alatreon is extremely difficult to tenderize even with mantles because many of his attacks hit multiple times. Other that our builds are identical.
I fought him solo with lbg, basically you have the control and pacing of the fight and it makes it easier. Btw, getting his lbg built makes it way easier
I've come to a stage where I just eat for safeguard and after he's killed me three times with his nova I've done enough damage to finish him off before he tries a fourth nova
People keep saying that, but honestly, I went to fight him with his armor set, and it was bad. I kept using the 3 Safi and 2 Teostra set and I already got him around 10 times (with friends)
Dan Alex I’ve beaten him around 20 times (with randoms) and this armor absolutely makes a huge difference if you go in with Dragon element. No idea what people are talking about because this armor is top tier. With jewels I have every offensive skill maxed out and then some.
@@DarkMaestro88 You make more elemental damage with Ice/Fire (depending in what element it starts) than dragon, I already tested it with friends. Still, I'm trying different things with that set and weapons. As of now, Safi and Kjarr are still more effective. We have been slaying in a time between 12-13 mins (15 at worse). As for when we use dragon element with its set, it took us between 17 to 18 mins.
I was thinking why you didn't upload anything about Alatreon. Then I realised you are still probably trying to beat it. No upload until victory. "Pain in the ass" is an understatement. I have a problem to even draw a weapon...
Also, it turns out, you can weaken that nuke 3 times, to the point that you only need minimal healing to survive it, this takes a TON of elemental damage tondo, but 3 Alatreon light bowguns was enough ;D
Female sets are worse in general. I like my slooty armors as much as the next guy, but so many are just bad compared to the male sets. Case in point: Guild Armor
Most of the female sets are lacking and could do better with a full face helmet. I always feel disappointed... but not enough to make a male character cause of the hours I’ve already put in 😔
You got lucky and got people that knew what they where doing, not everyone is bad only that when someone doesn't know what is the best way to help things get bad quickly
His switch between elements gets me the most but everything else is pretty tame if your a good dodger and get good damage cause his tail and horns are good targets and destroying the horns forces him to not use one of the elements my first one was ice but fire would be better
@@jenniferabsher1160 i'm the same. Dodging his attacks became pretty easy after my first few attempts but i always fail the quest, because his changing elements attack always wipes my entire team. Usually because some people try to heal through but just fail and some try attacking him to negate the attack, but don't deal enough damage in time. It's infuriating
Basically, to survive the judgement, you have to overload him once during a cycle with elemental dmg. Only DMG counts that he is not resistant to. Means in Ice everything aside Ice, Fire is strong however, and reverse in his Fire Form. In Dragon he is receptive of all dmg types, but 2 stars with dragon. I used an Ice Weapon for my solo kill (im not braging, its acutally a better idea to make this solo of your gear is ok, like safijia set, its also my only kill so far) I used my temporal only in fire face to really hit him down, and tried to kill the boss without dying 4 times at the judments i couldnt break. To Heal yourself, use Astrea Jerky. Its cheap and it heals your entire red bar.
I found the kulve taroth to be really good when going up against alatreon despite the elemental weaknesses. Level 3 speed eating and free meal allowed me to power heal throughout the fight. Lvl 3 free meal is nuts! I heal and most of the time it doesn't consume the item. So 10 potions easily becomes 30-40.
The female one is sooooo lazy, they literally grab parts from other armors, it’s basically a recolored rathian suit, and it’s poorly designed, half of your damn arms clip through the torso
totally agree with you. My complaint is that his armor total defense is very low. I thought is should be higher than kulve taroth's, like 900 or 910. Since he is a black dragon lol🤷♂️
@@marksullivan00 well then it'd be too op, you already get massive elemental damage reduction plus increased elemental damage from it (I got over a thousand dragon element on his hammer). It's gotta have some weakpoint, like how the safi set is a double edged sword where each attack decreases health (granted since I'm a hammer user I out heal the damage).
This fight doesn’t seem worth it. Sure the weapons are good. Kinda. But the armor is meh and it’s not really useful outside of the fight itself. Plus the nova is waaay too overturned.
I won’t lie one bit. The fight is extremely easy. His attacks don’t hurt. He has easy readable moves. He is easy to dodge and he himself isn’t hard one bit. It’s his supernova....like that’s it. No one in my hunts and it seems everyone else in their hunts never faints until his super move. Which is where I find it just meh. Like understanding yes it is his super move and it’s supposed to be strong but if no one is fainting to the monster and only to that one attack it seems something is up. Other than that the fight is alright but his armor is not worth the grind and his weapons are alright at most. At the end of the day we aren’t fighting alatreon. We are fighting his super move.
If the fight itself is easy then you probably don't have any problems with the dps check, right? ;) All it does is pressure you to play agressive, which you should be doing anyways.
@@nr.v4009 It is exactly what i think when people say that Ala is easy without his nova. The fact that people think that way doesn't make any sense in multiple ways.
@@nr.v4009 the fight itself is not easy but it's not too hard either I would just say it's medium and very fun but definitely not easy. It's so annoying that I keep seeing people say it's easy just to justify that the Nova is to overpowered, Which it is but still...
Agreed. The fight is fun. Nice and challenging but it goes belly up once that Nova is unleashed. The DPS on that thing needs to be nerfed. Otherwise a lot of people are gonna rage quit. Breaking the horns seems to lessen the damage enough to withstand it. A team I was with managed to break one horn and the DPS the nova did seemed slightly less than what is was with both horns still died to it tho. Point is. This thing can be beat. It just takes a little skill. Luck. And a shit ton of damage.
Ok here's some tidbits you guys can use. May be a bit of a read. 1. In one of the event quests (and the special assignment) Alatreon starts in fire mode, switches to dragon (he has access to all elemental attacks in this mode btw), and then ice. If you break his horn while he's in dragon mode he will switch back to fire instead of ice so if you have ice weapons this is the strat you need. In the other even quest he starts in ice and works his way to Fire so same deal. 2. Breaking the horn does NOT affect the nova. You can break a horn and still not do enough elemental damage. How you know you've done enough elemental damage is when he does a stumble like Velkhana when you break off enough of her ice and you get a congratulation message. You can do this multiple times to further weaken the nova. If you haven't seen any type of message talking about controlling Alatreon's power and he's about to nova just quit because you're dead. 3. The elemental threshold and HP scales to solo duo and multiplayer so you can solo him. 4. Ice is great for his fire mode and vice versa and both are ok for his dragon mode. Dragon is meh all around but is better for his dragon mode so choose your element element. If you know what mode he's gonna start in you can always use the opposing element (fire to ice and whatnot) and just aim to break his horn when in dragon mode to keep him in that specific mode so you can do more damage. 4. You CAN craft his layered weapons but you need to craft and upgrade his weapon first. So yeah.
@@addie1198 I would argue the second weakness of the element he starts in would be (if you can break the horn) otherwise I'd say dragon is only worth it if you own a Kjarr "Decay" of the weapon you want to use or the Alatreon weapon itself
@@SephyClone7 the safest thing I can recommend is 2 ice/fire (depending on his starting mode) and 2 dragon. Dragon is 1 star for fire and ice active and 2 star for dragon active. While it's useful for all modes it's not that good. Hence why I say aim to break his horn while in dragon mode. I always try to aim for his head as much as possible and slamming him into the wall helps a ton with this.
one complaint I only have is that the total defense number on the armor is very low lol like I thought it would be much higher than kulve taroth's like 900 or 910 defense lol. Since he is a black dragon.💁♂️
For those having a tough time with Alatreon, soloing him seems to be the best bet. I've been pretty successful with dual blades and LS. Lance and CB not so much.
@@gitgudmak In theory element choice doesn't matter as long as you choose one. However you can lock which element he stays stuck in by breaking his horns. The elemental ratings for fire and ice go from 0 to 3, while everything else varies at 1 or 2.
@@gitgudmak Lance is too slow anyway You gonna have to make some faster elemental weapons I'm also Lance user si I'm sad U could just try with Lance anyway but ist super hard
@@Ostrid1 First solo kill today with lance. Full safi, Kjarr ice 100% crit, (no offensive guard, partbreaker 2). It is not bad, you can easily break the horns and hit the legs while flying.
@@sylverlune I think everyone would love that, but that would never happen as capcom would proabably find that OP. I was hoping there was a way you could change the weapons element at the smithy, maybe using certain materials to do so.
@@sylverlune they had exactly that in frontier. There were combined elements like "Crimson Demon" "Light" "Darkness" and "Frozen Seraphim" which were multiple elements at once. Your weapon would only deal the most effective element present in that combination. For example, your weapon had the "Darkness" Element. If you fought a monster weak to dragon you'd deal dragon damage. If the monster was weak to ice it would be ice damage.
@@kingofflames738 that's super cool! They should just do the same for MHW alatreon. Cause right now the incentive to fight him is really low. Especially for GS mains like me who don't use elemental weapons.
Ok, how do you get the weapons without killing him? I've plundered him, yeeted him into walls, gotten several materials, but still no weapons at the smithy??
@@matthiasknaak4219 Actually, turns out I had to break the right thing. Ended up with a set that can break the horns in one hit, as soon as I finished that attempt, all the weapons and armor appeared. Now I'm stuck on getting a wing break before I lose, xD Baby steps!
Make your palico use the plunderang, use part breaker 3, break his head and tail, carve the tail, either return from quest or triple cart, you keep the rewards. You can gain gems this way too. The only difficult part to get is the wings, but you could focus them when he falls over.
"alatreon is a bit of a pain" Me attempts to drink demondrug and armourskin... Immediately gets blown up by lightning to the face. Proceeds to cart... Insert excessive REEEEEEEEEE HE ISN'T A PAIN. HE'S A NIGHTMARE WRAPPED UP UN A SILK CLOTH OF HELL 😅😂😂. other then that I do like the fight its really cool and fun. Will attempt to murder him again tomorrow. 😂😂
@@dogwithsunglasses4051 agree. it's fast, it hits hard, it's big. the nova is the only thing that assures death if teammate is dumb dumb or first try. fun fight tho.
I see a lot of people doing it with randoms, with a fight like this where everyone needs to be prepared, don't use SOS, go into a room or create one, that way you can inspect who ever is joining your quest. At least while its new. Maybe after a few weeks or so, SOS might be worth it, but the chance for someone not being prepare is to risky.
any tips for reaching its horns with the SnS? that was the main thing I was struggling with. It's got very short windows for grappling and doesn't stay downed for long either!
During a few big moves his head stays near the ground for about 3-4 seconds. And when he flies and shoots the ground with fire/ice, you can grapple his head to both avoid the attack and hit his head.
Very easily. He does big pauses after a lot of his attacks. During dragon phase, when he's up in the air and dips his head down, you can flinch-shot him into the ground, and then do a perfect rush combo on his face to break the horn. It's very easy to do. Hope that helps!
kept trying to fight him with the velkhana hammer, and i kept losing. then i tried using the SOS flare and then i got carried by 3 other longsword players
For some who likes to wear full set, this armor is trash. I went through 5 stages of grief with this set after acquiring it. I looked around for a while for someone to justify the set, but nope.
why? this set is actually quite good. Only 3 pieces needed to get both bonus. You can really mix and match with other sets well. Like, kjarr weapons + 2 set brachy. Or, 3 set armor bonus with safi weapons.
@@SuperLameRanger The thing is, If you really wanna go for elemental builds Safi 5 set with Kjarr weapons or any elem weapon is straight up a better option than alatreon in any way. Maybe only if the set had more crit eye than attack boost.
The beta set with alpha legs is insane if you run a dragon build. I managed to get 48 skill points into it. (Comparison: Kulve Taroth set got 36 skill points). You can max out critical eye, attack boost, defence boost and dragon attack and still have space for weakness exploit and critical boost without using your charm plus you get bonus skills like health boost. If you use the alatreon LS you get 1000 Dragon Element
Love your vids. Congrats on defeatin that boi lol but do me a favor my boi. Its (Alah-Tree-on) lol the way you say it makes him sound like a soccer player "beautiful strike from Ala-treyn" lmsao its all love tho my boi. Keep it up
Remember the tri days when you actually had to win to get parts? Actually break the horns and wings to make something. The wings were tough to. You needed purple to not bounce on them
This is the most bullshit hunt ever when you have no friends to rely on. Not a single random team can survive 1 judgement with the occasional lucky 1 team. Fucking sucks bro 😣
Cleared it 10 times already but failed like more than 20 times before that. Really don't just fight Alatreon, memorize its movesets and the safe spots of its attacks while keeping up DPS. In our last hunts, we cleared it without deaths. It's so frustrating at first but when you get used to it, it's really fun. Definitely will slay it again tomorrow.
Already finished my alfa and beta sets and the upgraded lbg \o/ Alatreon, in my opinion, is the coolest fight of all mhw hands down xD. After you get used to it, you can beat him with a good frequence xD. My suggestion is going with the alatreon lbg Thanks for the video. Waiting for your analyses on possible builds ^.^ o/
So, got the armor done and I say, I like using it for elemental heavy weapons. Essentially, I use it currently in a way that it maxes out the used element with the elemental defenses and a fully upgraded charm I switch out depending on the situation and I think it is very solid. The high attack boost probably is in it just to make us avoid using the usual crit boost meta we see in pretty much 95 % percent of all sets here on youtube. When it comes to fighting it, my group actually tried something you'd say is incredibly stupid. We were only three people and could not get a fourth one who actually did not use a status weapon. We essentially maxed out the dragon damage as much as possible and instead of trying to get him to stumble before he switches to dragon, we stumbled him during his dragon form where he has a two star weakness. Like I said, we experimented with the though to miserably fail, but it actually worked out. We got consecutive wins and were able to make the armor completely. Also, just as a small trivia for those thinking the armor is completely unusable: Monster Hunter Tri, his first appearance. For the fact he was incredibly tough, he only had 3 skills: Evade distance up, blight res and awakening. Aside from that, negative elemental resistance in all of them and the best thing I could slot in back in the day was elemental damage up with a really good talisman, as it had barely any slots to work with, with the old system of course. Now imagine someone putting sixty hours into sleepbombing that guy consecutively for those skypiercers and see those skills with barely any slots to work with XD I stuck with Lagiacrus for element or just used the ceadeus armor.
@@ekosubandie2094 oh ok. I started with 3u and by the time I had that there wasnt really a point to go back to trie since everything plus more was in 3u
I got enough parts from wallbangs and only cared about the ls because of the looks, doesnt feel worth the pain, it's not the fun hard that I personally enjoy
Set bonus is super disappointing. 20 points of resistance is 1 point of true element. It would be worth it if it was 1-to-1. But it's looking like Alatreon weapons are meta for Dragon. DB and Bow are better than Kjarr, so you can run 4-piece Silverlos and Alatreon Alpha boots.
Hey guys here's a good tip i learn from he MHW Community to fight this Alatreon. Make the Alatreon Light-Bow-Gun!!!! It has Rapid Fire for All Elements: Ice, Fire, Water,Thunder, and Dragon! It's the best way to to do enough element damage to nerf the Super-Nova, If you do enough damage, the Handler will say a dialogue to inform you the Checkpoint! This fight really requires everyone to have team of different elements. When it's shooting fire, use Ice. When it's Purple, you can use Dragon Element, and then Ice use Fire. Do enough element to also topple and break its horns to stop from switching element to element. I hope this helps take care and yeah this boss is hard.
I've seen how this armor stacks to elemental increases. It would take all the resistance skills maxed, defense 6, 3 parts alatreon, 2 remaining for the best elemental resist gain, AND eating for elemental resist large, and for ALL OF THAT...... a level 5 up skill of the element does better, not even max rank of 6. Even going to such extreme methods to pump out as much as possible, and it's just not worth it. It's bad..... really bad. And that kind of hurts to say for how frustrating this beast is to take down. Edit: the only reason to build this armor that I can see is to be elementally tanky, which idk why you'd want to invest in that, or to use it in conjunction with safi or silver sol, on its own it's bad...
Sadly it feels like the only reason to make Alatreon armor is... For farming Alatreon? Except his weapons should be enough damage with Safi full set or even Silver Rathalos set, that you should be able to EASILY surpass the element DPS check.
you could do 2 piece alatreon 2 piece namielle and 1 piece silver rathalos + safi weapon for an OP element build and alwasys eat for element resistance up
Not yet clear the quest But after 4-5 ties with my friend Good thing that I am a SnS user High element The shield can block almost all Alatreon attack (including thunderbolt and eruption) without using Guard Up SnS shield is suck, I am well aware, but at least better than a direct hit And SnS perfect rush, wow, 200+ damage per hit
It's a pretty bad SnS. The Kjarr ones from Kulve Taroth are way better for elemental SnS, especially with Frostcraft builds. You can easily get +400 damage with it.
As bad as I still want my Narga scythe, im super happy with the Alatreon long sword scythe. Power and style, glad I've been practicing my LS skills. Thx Light Break Edge for the motivation.
Omg i beated him i joined a session with 3 full 999MRHR japanesse player waiting for a random level 56MR i posted the quest they distroyed altreon in less then 10min after they kicked me
I don't know how to survive his super move I do not know what I'm doing wrong every time I try to heal it still kills me every time I use a Elemental weapon I still die I don't know how to play with other players and I don't have friends the only person that helps me is my palico I can deal with everything else except for that move I think is bulshit that you can't Superman dive that move please tell me is there some type of Bill that can save me from that move please and also I only use Greatsword
There's a threshold of elemental damage you need to cross to weaken his nova. If his nova still destroys you quickly then you haven't reached the threshold. Also Greatsword is behind on elemental damage no matter what the stats say.
My word i have not been able to even get one win on alatreon all day and we always get one shot by the judgement attack and i even had teams to help me and we cant even get one win its a good thing alatreon is in the game for 363 days
Arekkz, prepare to have your mind blown. I crafted his SnS. And on one of my many failed attempts (i've still yet to defeat him), i obtained, from breaking the first horn... an *Azure Dragonsphire.* And you'll DEFINITELY catch me wearing his beta armor when i have acquired all the materials. I'll call it... the Deathwyrm Knight. (What do you think of the name?)
For everyone struggling to finish this fight: Do it solo, get the velkhana Ice variant for your weapon, use Safi armor because of the damage boost and evade window skills. The rest is just learning the dodge timing and continuously attacking. Full Evade window is key for this since you can pretty much dodge through all of its attacks. It basically turns into a bloodborne boss at this point. That is how I did it.
NeoShenlong00X yea ik I started with MH3U but I was let down when I saw that world had butchered some of the weapon designs, especially for nargacuga and Brachy
He’s difficult still haven’t beaten him yet but I did get his equivalent of the mantle from the horn break reward all I need to make a weapon is the scales
Been playing as a Crusader on Diablo III the last week or so. But it looks like that whole "Walk into the Fray and Tank Everything" approach isn't going to work here. Black Dragons, amirite?
yeah i kept doin it with randos and frankly by now i keep seeing some weird idiot going with kadachi poison lance for example. his moveset make it fun while not that hard. just need to learn them. the only thing is the escaton judgement mixed with dumbass not doing what's require.
If you don't have a coordinated team it's pointless unless your a god at the game and I thought I was good and I can't seem to beat this one monster out of the many. I actually am annoyed how hard he is and there is no way to escape his blast at least with Safi you had the boulders but even if I hide behind his ice caps i can't escape it. That's super OP if you can't knock out his element
Is the fight doable? Yes. Is it annoying as fuck and does everyone agree the nuke should at least be nerfed? Fucking yes. Is the fight worth it? A RESOUNDING FUCKING NO. This shit is useless and doesn’t do ANYTHING for most of the weapons in this game. I’m a hammer main. I have friends who are Greatsword and Lance mains. The armor and weapons do jack shit for us. This is the most disappointing monster in the entire game.
This dude is fucked, imo. Me and my buddy spent like four hours on him yesterday and only toppled him like twice. We've had zero issues with anything else in the game and generally find it quite easy (at least compared to stuff like Souls). The amount of elemental damage you need to topple him is crazy. Now, granted, I have not been an elemental person at all up to this point. I've gone full raw for all my mains (Charge Blade, Gunlance, Long Sword, Great Sword). I don't have safi armor, I don't have element damage charms, etc. My buddy is fully decked out for all that shit though and we went and fought a val hazak so I could make his long sword and still we weren't doing enough damage to prevent a wipe. If you ask me, someone fully decked out for elemental damage paired with someone that definitely isn't but at least went and got one of the highest dragon weapons in the game SHOULD be able to win. Being forced to craft and use elemental weapons is already a huge fucking annoyance for raw players that don't have them and now need to go get them, but I also need a fucking perfectly stacked elemental damage build to go along with it? Come on now, why? Like actually why? lol. Besides, this whole mechanic is kinda cheap. "Do this one arbitrary thing or you all wipe no matter what," is such a boring, easy way to add difficulty to a boss. We could give him cool attacks or fluid combos that catch you up, but nah let's just AOE insta-kill the entire party if they don't meet our arbitrary DPS check, it's easier for us. I feel like the shitty parts I hate about MMOs are infecting my skill-based action game and I do not likey.
That fight is stupid AF, Its not even worth it. Cheap nuke attack=hard... no thats dumb. Alatreon is literally the lamest "black dragon" ever. And to make it worst... the dumb dragon runs around just so you dont get the EleDPS check off. So in turn...fuck this boss, not running it ever again.
I feel that the weapons are such a lost opportunity. In my opinion they would have been really awesome if they all had no elemental damage at all, and once you have successfully killed Alatreon you get an item (similar to the fire spell thing you got from the witcher crossover) that changes the element to fire, dragon, and ice in a set order. Or, something around the lines of a new craftable "ammos" for the weapon that adds an element of choice to a hit. Say loading 1 fire, 1 ice, and 1 dragon which deals each type of element to 3 hits total. Then you're back to elementless damage until you "reload" the weapon again. Wall of text, no potato.
About 20 failed solo attempts, even more failed group attempts. Can't survive the Nova at all. Saw some info and tried doing just Ice and resetting if he didn't start in fire mode, still fail the fight repeatedly. Whoo boy, even Behemoth wasn't this annoying for me. More than likely going to give up on Alatreon at this rate because the fight is just impossible for me.
About to try it solo because I've had nothing but carting randos who don't know how to survive any of his moves. Wish the XB MHW community wasn't so bad :/
U little mother ugh!!! I stayed up all night to defeat this little bustard once.... only to find out u can craft its weapons without defeating it?! Bruhhh!!! I’m done...
Dont worry guys Alatreon only hard in Special Assignment cause some random still learning Event quest is much much easier cause they know what theyre doing Still farming for the dragonsphire tho
I'd like to know more about how to get to the threshold elemental damage you need to survive the super alatreon does. I know you HAVE to do but when playing with other people online it seem so hard to even do it. I've done probably way less then you have but I've died to the super everytime. That's the only thing stopping me from doing it. Kinda sucks hope you can help out with a video on it.
