So after saying I'd do it for a whole year, I finally decided to learn to use the hunting horn and... HOLY SHIT IT'S AWESOME The spin attack is so satisfying and using the echo wave after is beautiful as ffffffff
HH was always fun to me, used it in most gams that had it. Even in World it was pretty fun, but now with Iceborne it's just amazing. Certainly not max deeps but now it actually is mid tier damage wise. And the new moves+clutch claw attack are so good! Plus it got a buff in speed on most moves so it feels better than ever.
Something i came across exploring the HH new moveset. You can store up 3 impact/dragon wave melodies. Each hits decently but if you encore all 3 together it hits like a truck on a weakend head.
Yes HH is an amazing weapon and got a really nice boost in Iceborne, one of my favorite weapons, cause no matter how the monster positions it self, bou got an attaxk to reach it :D and who dosen't love killing a monster with a musical instrument ? XD especially the Zinogre guitar or Garuga Banjo xD Also the Velkhana Horn has a pleasant sound when you play it
It's so sad seeing no love for that weapon.. there are so many original concepts for HH builds 'cause of songs. -Orange/red HH can extende felyne coral songs for a super solo buffed build - red/green HH can stack recovery speed over the cap for a super regen build - blue/lightblue HH can extend mantles and create a tool specialist + shara ishvalda armor build for infinite mantles uptime - A thief stamina build is now possible thanks deviljho armor set bonus and the possibility to clutch claw and tenderize every monster part that are not head (and let hammer do the ko)
@@uramaki6580 I have a blast teo set with crit status that can out play the meta bs or elemental dragon HH build with 1.3k dragon element. there is so much you can do with HH and still people use that cheap ass "meta" sets
to break down every viable set in mhw:i, go goldian with garuga pants for status, silverlos with garuga pants for element, and masters touch build with any acidic glavenus weapon for a raw build
Since hunting horn was mentioned and you showed the poison mix set i recommend wolf shamisen.(yian garuga) With its song you run at 45 afinity from the weapon alone giving you ALOT more freedom with what other pants and decos youll use for your build. Just throwing that out there
The Wolf Shamisen is by far my favourite Hunting Horn beause the Affinity Up and Earplugs song can give you a lot of Damage potential + Poison. I have actually nerfed my own build a little from too much Affinity Boosting Skills and just went for some more Weakness Exploit and full Crit Eye. The Affinity Up song can bring me up to 90% Affinity easily, so I used some of the empty slots and lucky Level 4 Decorations to add in 3 Levels of Slugger AND 3 Levels of Stamina Thief.
Nerg is a better garuga hh, easier to build for aswell if you dont have god decos. But a auxl hh will outshine any other hh. A 20% to damage is a big deal. I recommend velkana or bazel.
eyyyyyy doot doot crew coming in! Never clicked so fast after seeing horn. Dont be a corner horn go smack that horn, guitar, lute, wardrum, or bagpipes right in their face.
The HH set was not a HH set. You could just as easily classified it as any speedy attack weapon in game like LS,SNS, or dual swords. There was nothing about it that lended itself well to that weapon over the others.
@@ryproar11 does it really work better though, or do you just prefer it for personal reasons over meta sets? Partbreaker loses out to damage increases because damage increases also lead to faster breaks, and Slugger really doesn't do all that much besides slightly speed up KOs (2-3 points of Slugger can fit into most HH meta sets relatively easily though if you really want to run it). Meta is what people view as most effective for a reason. You can play however and use whatever you like of course, but to me your set doesn't wildly change your enjoyment or experience. Whether I have 100% affinity and Master's Touch or a Slugger/Stamina Thief meme build, I'm still going to be beating monsters over the head with a HH. Now, that said, efficient setups can always be broken down to a basic template and then get filled back in with your own creative spin. For example, I have a pretty hefty survival setup using the Bazel HH and 2 piece Vaal armor for multiple stacks of health regen. Certainly not meta--but it still has 100% affinity with Crit Boost 3 and Master's Touch for permanent purple and decent damage output. If it's possible to do both, there's no real reason to nerf yourself just because "boo, meta bad!". Different can be made strong and effective too. Just my 2 cents.
@@ryproar11 of course I play for fun too. I just enjoy pushing my limits, challenging my own personal best results, and seeing if I can even non meta setups as strong as they can be--while playing the same game you or anyone else is, it's hardly a job to me. To each their own is right. What I personally don't get is how exactly meta approaches somehow make things less fun to anyone though, I see that claim a lot but not much explanation for it. Like I said before, meta set or no meta set I'd still be hitting things in the face with a HH, so I don't quite see the difference (other than doing x amount less damage for y reason). MH is MH no matter what you use, so if you enjoy the game doing so with higher effectiveness shouldn't change that, right?
@@ryproar11 so meta isn't bad...but meta is bad? That's what I'm gathering here. Actually, no--hat I'm getting here is a bit of a misunderstanding as to what elitism actually is: If people are badmouthing and excluding others based on using anything but the most effective approaches? Yes, elitism, absolutely. But if they're just those using effective approaches and trying to share/explain them to people that either don't know or don't understand? Nah, not elitism at all. The mindset that meta=elitist is highly flawed...all meta is is equal parts math, facts, and theorycrafting in an attempt to hit max potential. There's nothing inherently negative about that. I've seen people shun meta builds, insult the 'DPS tryhards' for using entirely offensive setups, insist that it's stupid to not run utility skills in endgame because you'll inevitably cart and drag groups down, try to downplay anyone trying to talk effectiveness/meta/deeper gameplay knowledge as elitist, etc...guess what? That's an elitist and toxic mindset, it just comes from the side that likes to point that finger at players that like to play with some degree of efficiency while they do the same thing they complain about. Goes both ways, and ironically you see that type of elitism a LOT more than the 'use meta or don't bother' kind. Why is meta bad, but anti meta totally innocent behavior? Lastly, the most effective combinations and the people that will look towards finding/using them has and always will be a thing. If that was actually going to make the MH community a boiling pot of toxicity, it would've happened a loooooong time ago. The fact that it hasn't kinda shows that the fear of meta-related elitism ruining the playerbase is pretty unfounded if you ask me.
KPlaysHere the „problem“ I see is that people come here to see creative or fun ideas from the Community instead of what you see everywhere else anyway.
Man, I'm kinda disappointed with the hunting horn set, it's just the raw damage meta build that I already use I was kinda hoping there would be something a little more wacky, but whatever at least its getting some attention right?
Depending on your available Decos swapping out the Gold Rath arms for the Final Boss arms and the Garuga Greaves for Gold Rath Greaves gives you 2 points of Crit boost and Weakness Exploit and 2 Level 4 Deco slots compared to 2 points of Resentment and Crit eye and 2 Level 4 slots and 3 Level 2 slots (This is coming from somone who never got a Tenderizer Deco in Base World).
I'm a Insect Glaive main, but World is my first real take on Monster Hunter and I am really clueless when it comes to skills. Got something on the Glaive front?
@@mist666999 i use airborne and the odogaron armor to get protective polish, so the airborne attacks don't deplete sharpness. I think that's a good combi, but when I fight Ishvalda, I feel so weak.
@@MrDahby Really... don't use airborne unless your armor gives it as a side effect. You should play on the ground if you want to maximize DPS, aerial IG is pretty much not worth it, only vault to reposition yourself.
Arekkz if you are doing Mixed Set Mondays can we somehow convince you to do some kind of Fashion Oriented Series ? Fashion Friday ??? The amount of Layered armor is now actively growing, so I can totally imagine it beeing a TON of Fun to literally play Fashion Hunter for the people who do not really care about Builds but just want to look cool~ It would also cover a lot more outfits since you do not have to discuss builds and just show off some cool Outfits. Please Please PLEASE Consider it because it could be a ton of fun to play Dress Up !
Actually it does, Gold Rath 4 set bonus is an increase in status effect damage but only when landing critical hits. So outside of critical hits, it doesn’t do more damage.
What about the normal Rathian bonus. Double poison duration. With that much poison getting it to proq should be easy with monsters have a 2 or 3 star weakness to poison. But having it last longer would give a lot of damage too. That and with it being a two piece set bonus it can be paired with masters touch for instance.
Where do I post my sets so Arekkz may choose to show them?. I got a Ultimate tank Anja HBG with both Artillery and Divine blessing armor bonuses while making a Garuga LBG variant with that evade reload mastery. Got some good ones I dont mind to share.😎🤙🏽
defiantly need to sit down and learn the Horn, I love running my Palico with its horn gadget but I want to try it for once... Still racking my head around Rajang, but working slowly to get the Silver and Gold raths really wanting both charge blades.
Didn’t they change how poison works in world compared to previous games? Like the poison doesn’t keep building up instead the poison meter resets after the monster gets poisoned.
Use that Crit build with garuga DB's - crazy poison damage with ridiculous affinity to boot and you aren't sacrificing defense since you have health boost 2 and divine blessing 5. Insane.
Here's my mixed set for great sword. Also arreks include my or any other GREAT SWORD mixed set Glavenous helm beta Damascus chest beta Damascus arms beta Odogaron coil beta Glavenous graves beta Slot In A lvl 4 crit jewl and then any other jewl you want If you have a focus jewl (which I dont) use the fulgur anjanath helm + weakness exploit jewels. (This is for before the guiding lands so that why there's no endgame armour, cough cough garuga g reaves. Also I never get good jewls)
Hey big fan of the hunting horn hereand was pretty disappointed at what was chosen for what i believe is our first hh build. If anyone wants to leave comments on suggestions for builds (can be general or in depth) and ill try my best to make them or one i like and send it in! We deserve cooler representation as hunting horn mains and gotta get some spicy builds out there I have a few but im having trouble deciding between em. So lets come together and get a list goin O7
If you don't have the Brute Tigrex Mail yet, use the Kirin one. I also recommend the Bazel one over the A. Glavenus one. Not only it doesn't look like a giant lollypop, but the songs are pretty good.
@@Dredgenicon True. But the A. Glavenus one looks like a moldy lollipop, and the Velkhana one makes you look like a traveling glassware merchant. So I'd sacrifice the damage any day.
@@Sorrelhas bazel is still top3 so i dont blame you. Its the best hh to actually use when you have 2-3 friends/sos players that are using peak performance builds. The recovery songs help with keeping their peak up time to all time high.
Poison is so deadly in real life or more realistic fiction, were a pinprick of certain poisons can kill in seconds Yet in games it's always a DOT that takes a long time to do anything and is generally better to just fight normally with a higher dmg weapon. If poison was a % based dmg effect it might be really good at G-rank
But it *is* really good in G rank. I'm not sure why you're under the impression that it isn't. Several of the best weapons at endgame are Gold Rathian, unless specific circumstances make something else ideal. Shara for example takes tons of poison damage, but then you might kill it before getting two face breaks.
Is poison capped? In this clip it looks like its getting 32 per tick on poison wich is the same numbers i get with my build but my poison is only at 520
Meta Master’s touch set, but using the acidic glavenus hunting horn. Yaaaaay... no surprise there really. I see this from the POV of a HH main that once liked these kinds of sets for Horn. But in Iceborne, I’d honestly rather see other things. Like Earplugs or Slugger. I’m intending on making this set, as I want a horn for fighting monsters that don’t roar often. But this is still... not exciting.
@@jono9041 of course it's the best damage set, but people came here to find unique builds not something you could Google and find on every site you visit. I'm just saying that HH set is just a basic universal set for every weapon in the game.
@@Cananga fair enough. If you want something interesting though I'd replace the teotra set with the one that gives slugger secret; try to get slugger 5 and exhaust 4. Keep the crit skills (weakness 3, crit eye 7, crit boost 3) and use the Velkana HH, preferably with health augment and affinity. Not optimal by any means, but should prove to be interesting enough while still being very viable :].
Meta is meta I guess but man you see these master touch builds with specifically the tigerx and yian garuga everywhere on RU-vid. Just makes you wonder what other chests and legs exist...
All weapons are sólo viable! It just depends on what you want to use, some weapons have quicker quest times than others but you can solo the game with any weapon.
@@Hgryufdukn sharpness doesn't really matter since it still has rarity 12, plus the attack is amazing, and if you look at the skills he uses with the sword shield, it's pretty crazy.
Virjunior damn discord... I guess I’m finally going to make one. This discord nonsense came out of nowhere to me like a year ago and everyone apparently uses it
@@martinhentsch5 oh ok :D yeah. I agree in World (basegame) posion is nether a threat nor really useful against most monsters. Xeno was the only exception, because his poison threshold/resistance would never increase upon consecutive poison ailment inflictions. So it didn't take more poison to put him into that state again. Always the same.
No, you still want to run it on pretty much any HH. The longer your buffs last, the longer you have to focus on pumping out damage with wave songs and echo attacks instead of maintaining songs.
If you you wanna waste time replaying/encoring low dps songs be my guest. Spin to win is wheres the damage at. More uptime on songs is more time for spin to win.
@@clowdde encore is pretty dead for dps compared to spin to win(echo note). Echo wave impact ×3 encore is the only way to make encore worth the damage.
@@clowdde yeah, Neils is right. Recital>encore combo is pretty much only for when you want to refresh buffs now, it's lower in damage than echo spam. Too much empty space where you aren't attacking, which hurts the combo's DPS potential compared to the constant attacking on echoes. Impact/Dragon Wave recitals are an exception because they add extra attacks into the empty space (and pretty strong ones at that), but if you want to make good use of those you still want Maestro for extending your other songs while you focus on damage combos.
Oh! Thanks. I have it equipped but thought it to be a layered mask. Searched all other head set looking for it but didnt turned off layered headset for the equipped armor.
Best way is do threat level 2 and 3 tempered investigating(master rank). Or just kill alot of monsters in the guiding lands and hope it's one of the rewards when you report back to the handler. There really is no easy way
KaReKaKaGa in mixed set monday is a waste oportunity to see a more original monday build... :( Its just the standar melee "meta" set with a HH music jewel.
Fishing rod set when? Joke aside ~yey hunting horn you can say those are critically acclaimed music your playing on it.... ba dum tiss* you can put that barrel bomb and shock trap away ill be riding the cart....
HH set was weak. My HH build gets me to over 2300 attack, full vitality, full weakness exploit, full earplugs, 5lv Attack, 6lv defense. I have over 1000 defense when I play my buffs and can solo anything the game throws at me. Use glavenus HH but dont put handicraft on it, equip the bludgeoner/non elemental buff charm your homecat gives you. Your HH, so your weapon wont bounce off, and the lower your sharpness the more dps you do. Thank me later for a real mans endgame build and kill shit in record time.
i posted a nice supportive damage dealing set with the 3 pieces brute tigrex that you love so much Arekkz last sunday. im a HH main since MHFU so please check it out :D strong for yourself and everybody loves you with the damage and heals :D
Monster Hunter will always be important on this channel, but sometimes when content you produce has an embargo date/time, it's important to hit that. On occasions like that, regular videos might shift. You got the video today anyway, it's not like I cancelled it for a week :P
