Here is a trip from August 5 targeting king salmon out of Manistee Michigan. We started the trip around 5 PM and got back to the dock around 10:30pm. Fished 3 to 4 miles south of the harbor in 100 to 150 feet of water. We had six or seven fish that we lost on this trip but I was not able to get any good footage. Let me know if you guys have any feedback about the video or suggestions for any future videos, including “how to” videos. Was up in Manistee the 15th and 16th fishing. Wind wasn't to nice for many!! Got one day out of two to fish!! Hope those winds have calmed down since then!!!!

It has been a brutal year for wind. Seemed at least one day every weekend had a small craft warning

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that when you are younger, you have all the time and energy in the world but no money to do it and as you get older, you have the money but no time. The Lake in a great spot right now though. You should definitely make a trip soon.

Did that king have a yellow tag near the dorsal fin that cigar guy caught?

A good number of fish have similar yellow markings but I talked to a MDNR officer and they said that the yellow markings occur naturally and it is not a tag.

Why do people always try to net a fish before it is close enough to the boat ? It is a good way to lose the fish, and surprised I didn't see it happen ? All in all, a very successful outing ! I have done all my fishing out of Waukegan on the other side of the pond ! Some very nice Kings there !🥰😋😋

My theory is that you do not want them to get too close to the boat, so you do not risk them getting into your propeller or downriggers but to each their own. There is not a cookie cutter answer when every fish acts different. Haven’t missed a net job since 99 tho. Thank you for your comment and feedback! 😃
