Monster Lake Nipissing Opener Walleye!!! Perch Catch n Cook

Lew, Kyrsten and I head out on to lake Nipissing to fish the opener bite! We got a late start to the day but still managed to make the best out of it and capitalize on a phenomenal after dark bite! We caught a few perch, and cooked them up on the stove for a delicious snack! All in all, we managed to catch about 35-40 walleye and half a dozen nice sized perch! What a great opener. As a side note, there is around 16" of ice out there, however ice thicknesses vary, so travel with caution!

I put my hut out in the south shore! Look for 26-28 feet of water and you'll be on them!!!

@@nathangravel2883 yeah, rippin' raps, all sorts of rattle baits work phenomenal, but only if the bite's on! If not, could scare fish off, you have to try and judge the fishes mood off of the sonar! Nothing beats a plain hook with a bead, shiner and a split shot for any type of bite!

@@nathangravel2883 absolutely wild! Ive got a Humminbird 698 hddi and it was a game changer for ice fishing! incredible to see how the fish are interacting with your bait. And like they say, big bait big fish lol!

@@FishingTheNorth i went out to Calender Bay Friday and Sunday. Total of 11 walleye (no keepers) and 2 ok perch.

So many fish! It’s inspiring to watch yet discouraging at the same time because I wish I could get on schools like that. Have you considered offering guided trips?

Thanks a lot! If you're heading out on nip, right now deep feeding flats are the ticket in around 25-30 ft! I've considered guiding, although I'm not sure how I'd start up that haha

I've literally caught 25 good sized perch 3 days in a row, just north of the manitou islands near the reserve.. all the walleyes are juuuuust under slot size

Awesome! My shack, midday, if it's sunny I'll be on perch, if it's cloudy I'll be on walleye all day long!

@@scambaitspidey3470 Agreed. I only went out yesterday, bite was slowed to a crawl. Still managed around 2 dozen walleye in 3-4 hours fishing, and a nice 21 inch keeper to boot. However bite is definitely off, looking forward to that "warm up" of -15 ish weather to fire the bite back up again lol.

Lake is in North Bay Ontario, if that's what you meant! Or The huts on the south shore, if that's what you meant lol, tight lines
