Sad story about me, High School DxD was one of my first Shonen series as a young teen. So therefore the tropes where fresh, and the chess system and fights where neet. I honest to god barely cared about the boobs I pretty much un-ironically watched it for the plot and that fact haunts me to this day.
Always like how fair this dude is. he’s never insulting anyone for liking a show. He’s just “it’s definitely bad, but whatever if that’s what you like” I never got past episode 1
I watched the first ep of MM and then i literally broke my desk when my wife walk into my living room… asked me wtf was going (she knows anime gets weird and still couldnt handle what was happening) and in my embarrassment, i jumped up saying ITS NOT HENTAI! And my thigh knee area smashed into my desk and my computer straight up collapsed.
One thing I remember about this series is how it's weirdly educational. Like, it's scary how often it'll drop extremely accurate tidbits about animal biology.

I found Monster Musume in my mid twenties after truly tumbling down the anime rabbit hole, and I still love it; regardless of how absurd and degenerate it is.

I just want to say one of my pals watched this with his platoon in the Army and for the rest of training they were arguing about which monster girl they wanted to fuck, and calling opposing selections shit, much to the confusion of the higher ups. Apparently it was awesome.
I hate Ecchi but when the trailer came out it made waves because no anime that degenerate in such a weird way had come out before so I watched it for the meme (despite being a pretty casual viewer at that point only watching a few anime a year). But then I actually ended up liking the show lol. The character diversity is refreshing and a few of them were genuinely likable (horse, spider, and maybe snake I recall being good ones).
I think the main thing that plays into this show being as popular as it was, was that around the time it got popular RU-vid never really regulated what was pirated or not so people would just straight up post pirated episodes of anime and monster musume just happened to be one of them. A lot of shows that were also pirated were shows like fairytale, attack on titan, everything basically.
Wow that brings me back. I got into anime in large part because of the few anime on Netflix at the time like S1 of Fairytale and Soul Eater. Then I binged fairytale and Dragon Ball here on youtube. That was years ago.
I remember I watched How Not to Summon a Demon Lord without even knowing what ecchi was, that was an eye opener with all the lewd animal girls and what not. I’m no man to judge but I will admit I kinda ran down some interesting rabbit holes to find out why the show was so overly sexual but so popular, that led me to “that side” of tumblr and deviantart. I think I closed my laptop, downed a bottle of whisky, and remained flaccid for an entire week after that night.
I remember watching this as a 14 year old and then telling my friends at school about it. I’m a straight woman so this show does nothing for me. I don’t understand why I subjected myself to this.

believe it or not this was one of the first anime I watched. I went from Seven deadly sins to SAO to this... I don't remember how i found this or started watching it but it introduced me to a special side of anime. I thought it was shit and I loved it and continued watching it and then never thought about it again until this video...

i love having a scamboli video randomly pop up on my feed once every 7 months or so and I go back and watch all the bangers over the years, absolutely as hilarious as they were the first watch
Honestly, I watched that show with friends and it's still to this day one of my favorites because of just how hilarious it is. Some scenes had me laughing harder than I had in ages back then, and the fact that it both takes itself seriously (as in, "I have a monstergirl fetish, I spent months of my life studying the subject, AND BY GOD I WILL SHOW IT", with things like describing the cultural impact The Little Mermaid had on the actual mermaids who don't really have native authors because UNDER THE SEA and all) and not seriously at all (naked big-breasted kaiju fight? Naked big-breasted kaiju fight.) is a rather fascinating mix. Don't think I could actually recommend it to anyone though, I'm well aware that I'm far more amused by zany, self-indulgent worldbuilding and slapstick comedy than the average person. Still hilarious.
I’m part of that group that watched Monmusu when I was younger simply because it was popular, and I think the reason I liked it was because it at least tried to build some sort of world based around the multiple species instead of just being pure fanservice (even if the worldbuilding ultimately was just an excuse for fanservice to happen). More than the show itself being good, I think it made me realize my desire to see more of that kind of thing. GATE would later come along and prove that right. So while I’m aware it’s objectively a kind of meh show, I’m still grateful to it tl;dr I’m one of the tiny minority that *actually* watched it for the plot

Ah, the nostalgia... this anime was my first ecchi and I think I watched when I was 12 or 13. In that time, anime was still something new to me, so I liked a lot, and must have watched for at least 3 times lol

After watching Interspecies Reviewers, all other monster girl anime are inferior by comparison imo.....except Interviews with Monstergirls which was wholesome as fuck.
I didn't say Ishuzoku reviewers was more wholesome. That would be Interviews with Monstergirls or Demi-chan wa Kataritai. Interspecies Reviewers is different from Interviews with Monstergirls.

after watching some of his older videos, i've realized that a) he's improved a lot in terms of editing, b) his sense of humor has been honed, and c) his VOICE has CHANGED so much in two years
Honestly, as stupid as this show really is. I got to appreciate the story for at least attempting to go in detail on the world building on how these monsters affect society or operate if only if it was made to make more fetish fuel. I still consider it one of my biggest regrets in my teen years.
For me, it was that I found the author's first set of short one-shot comics about life with monster girls, and had read all of them when I was a young man, and so the connection to that happy memory, along with your point of interesting (if sometimes infuriating) worldbuilding being the big draws. That being said, I have no regrets and still enjoy the show, flaws and all.
Bro when my bother showed me monster musume when I was 12, I could not believe what I was seeing. It took ecchi to whole new realm for me. Gave me some perspective on how people can see things differently. (Probably not for the better)
I'm a grown ass adult who likes complex stories and generally dislikes the harem trope, but I've to say that I like Monster musume, the comedy is really spot on for me
Honestly, i'm not ashamed of reading the entire manga. You can call me a degen but the manga has good comedy and likable characters, the plot is bad but that's not the point of the series, it's all about learning about new species of girls and seeing them interact with eachother. Also the author is self-conscious enough to not make the main-character cringy like other ecchis.
Have you read the K-on manga? Apparently it's on the same age rating (16+ or R) as the Monster Musume manga. So that might explain why it was on there at 0:09.

I somehow stumbled across this show a few years ago and watched the whole thing, man what a trip. Part of me wants to see how the "story" ends, ie who the guy ends up with. The other part wants to never revisit this again. A funny thing, my dad actually somehow found out about this some time after I did and asked what this weird and horrible show was after describing what he tried to describe as the plot, I feigned ignorance because I wanted to keep the sanctity of our household. And no one was the wiser
I guess this shows how subjective comedy can be, as I often find Monster Musume to be more funny and even clever than it is ecchi, which is saying a lot. Saying the girls have no personality, that Kimihito doesn't have a name, etc. I'm afraid shows you didn't pay as much attention as you could have (which is understandable given you didn't like the series).

Heck, just look at their character pages on TV tropes if you really want some detail. Here's a quick rundown of three of the girls: Miia: Temperamental, devoted, romantic, spontaneous and very outwardly emotional. Cerea: Serious, shy (when it comes to intimacy), responsible, idealistic to the point of it sometimes interfering with her rationality. Rachnera: Blunt, pragmatic, mischievous, somewhat insecure beneath the confidence she tries to project.

I wouldn't call it a bad anime. I also wouldn't call it a good anime. It has its moments and the manga has a better delivery on the comedy aspects. But it does ultimately boil down to just some horny guy's passion project. And I see nothing wrong with that.
Not gonna lie, favorite ecchi anime of all time. Even though I don't really like ecchi anime. The only other one I've seen is Interspecies Reveiwers. But I fucking love this anime, being the first ecchi I've ever seen.
I can relate to the whole watching ecchi because I'm underaged thing. I was excited to see boobs for the first time with DxD but then ended up just enjoying the plot as a whole. If anything, ecchi got me into the anime I enjoy today. I may not like ecchi now, but I'm glad it helped me get into some pretty good shows after my ecchi phase.
People may disagree with me but I strongly believe Monster Musume is a harem classic. It is no The Fruit of Grisaia but for what it is, it stands exceptional. Edit: Darling's actual name is Kimihito Kurusu.

Every day I'm surprised I've never watched Monster Musume considering how "into" the monster girl genre I am. Seriously. Monster Girl Quest is somehow my favourite game series of all time, I own physical copies of both Monster Girl Encyclopedia books, and there are at least three monster girl nuki games on my computer at any given time. And yet I haven't watched Monster Musume. Maybe I will one day, but I might just re-watch Interspecies Reviewers if I need an anime fix...

I remember when I was young, 12, I was on hulu looking for anime to watch, then I was recommended monster musume. I watched the first minute, at first thinking it was like monster high. It was not. I stopped after seeing whatever I saw, I don't remember just what I witnessed but I know that I was thoroughly traumatized. Oh and then I watched food wars thinking it was just a cooking show
