I was thinking something similar. Some people actually recycle tires and cover them in concrete to build walls or foundation for homes.

I have 20 times that outside in storage.

Well, I play more skirmish style stuff than full on army stuff. I was thinking stack the caps sort of like you did. Then make the doors, some windows, and roofs from stuff that looks like scavenged metal and junk. Add something to the back of the hut like sculpt a mold to make a mound of dirt, a hill, or a dune. Make it look like they dug into it and then built a shelter from tires and junk. I figured it would look great for Necromunda as a ganger hideout if you made the dirt part look more like grungy grey ash. However this also gave me an idea for Gaslands. I have a GreenStuff World tire mold. It makes tires that are pretty much scale to Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. The cars we use for Gaslands. I had been making tires with hot glue from a glue gun in the mold. Then making tire walls and tire and junk piles to use as scatter terrain. Now I'm thinking stacked tire huts and make a shanty town.
