Monster truck racing plus costumed mascots that trash talk like professional wrestlers equals hilarity. Here, an undead Skeletor rip-off argues with a construction worker about who has the better truck.
the Carolina Crusher character is portrayed by multiple arm wrestling world champion late Rick Zumwalt. he had his most prominent role in 1987 Sylvester Stallone movie "Over The Top" starring as " Bull Hurley ". these Monster Jam segments were definitely a take out of the wrestling promo playbook, I loved them back then. :)
I used to love this as a kid back in 94 and then wwf superstars on saturday noon. After all that head to the park and play baseball or football with my friends. Time was gold and no social media.
God i remember this ^^ loved this show when i was a kid and saw the avatars of the trucks trash-talking one another. It was awesome. :) My favorite was Equalizer, cause he was blue and a good-guy super hero ^^ Today i look at this and smile, cause now i can see how pathetic the use of mascots really was, but i still loved them. ^^ it was like live-action cartoons having at each other! :D
And, this is why people say that monster trucks are a mix of professional wrestling and NASCAR. It doesn't make sense in theory. But, you have the mascots trash-talking to each other like wrestling promos. And, monster trucks are supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Monster Jam isn't like Formula E, Formula 1 or even Indycar racing. But, it's supposed to be a helluva good time. When you get bored of watching Formula 1 or NASCAR, you could always change the channel and sit back and watch some Monster Jam or Monster Wars!
The sad thing is, I think that might have been a truck show I went to because that looks like the Nassau Coliseum that the trucks were in & I remember Grave Digger beat Carolina Crusher in the finals.
