The biggest Mavericks swell in years hit Half Moon Bay today, with local stand-out Luca Padua up for the challenge alongside his tow surfing partner, Alo Slebir. Watch one of the best waves of the historic day.

The Mavericks Awards is a digital video performance contest in which big wave surfers and videographers submit their best surf content from Mavericks from the entire winter season. Founded by Jeff Clark and Chris Cuvelier, our mission is to celebrate Mavericks and the brave men and women that surf it. Our values of respect, inclusion, equality, safety and environmental stewardship guide all our decisions and how we operate the Mavericks Awards.

Nice stall move before the wave barrels. Some good footage here. The music leaves something to be desired.

Yeah, bad scoring. I would have used the Surfaris Wipe Out and had the drum solo start right when the wave starts to barrel

I love the G, seems long time now, But Kai's so entertaining & his mastery over massive waves & huge surf is unique Kelly gives him a fair assessment, Onya G, I dig Smith's, J boys, big Larry even few crazy S.Euro crew but Kai's always killed the monsters, everywhere.! Some are just hypnotic
