That is why I am going with the DJI Action3. I hate to not support Gopro because I do have the Hero 2,5,8 and 10 but enough is enought. 550 dollars is a lot for a camera that doesn't work and if it wasn't meant for vlogging then why does gopro sell a vlogging kit. GoPro needs to fix this.
I have the 9 and when I had it it the water proof case I dealt with overheating issues last year. This year I haven’t had any issues with the external microphone case
I have the Hero 10 and it does the exact same thing. I kept the battery in it but ran a power bank off the back of my chest mount Since then, I have not had any issues at all. Our summer this year was insane, so I was really worried with it over heating. When I used that media mod, I had nothing but issues with it. Took it off bought a skeletal mount and been great. I also noticed when I used 3rd party batteries and had issues there as well.

The Go Pro overheating issues is why I stopping recording videos for you tube. I was hoping they resolved the issue but it doesn’t look that way. Last one I bought was the 8. I used it the same way you described. It overheated all the time. When I tried to take the battery out, the shell of the battery just fell apart. It happened to all 4 of my batteries. So disappointed that they haven’t fixed the issues. Thanks for the honest video.
I don't use a media mod, but I use an external power pack, with NO battery inside the gopro 8, an aftermarket door, and have no problems, other than the tiny screen going from grey to black from the sun.
Very interesting video. I experienced the same overheating with my GoPro Hero 10 in the media mod. This is something GoPro has to address. You probably know that the DJI Action 3 does most of the same things that the GoPro Hero 11 does (but not all), and is guaranteed not to overheat. And it's considerably less expensive. You will need to purchase another mic (DJI mic probably works great with it).
Yessir! Very aware about the Action 3, I really only got the Hero11 because I was going to have it weeks sooner than the Action 3 🤣 I’m impatient and I know it. I’m planning on the Action 3 still though, my 360 Max is still getting the job done though! And I love the look of the 360. And for what it’s worth, the DJI mic system is FAR better than the Rode Wireless II 👊🏻

I'm keeping my Hero 11 because I'm not over water with it hardly at all (not the case with your vlog, I know) and using the Volta with the battery out it NEVER overheats. I also use 3 other cameras for my RU-vid vlog along with the Hero 11. In any case, I'm sure you aware that once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
@@gr8fullytedicated now THAT is some valuable information about the Volta! And just like any time mass cameras are released, there’s going to be some duds and software/hardware bugs. I don’t think this was the case though. I think it was just too much for the higher resolution/frame rate. Not to mention that new processor is going to require a little more power. And that’s awesome about having the 3 other cameras! I’m back to taking my A74 on the boat and having the Max360 running for secondary angles.
I love my gopro a lot. I take my hero 7 black and pull the battery out and them plug in a power bank and then I spraypaint the camera and the cage white. It makes a big difference, never had a problem...YET lol This is a big disappointment wow!
Sup buddy I was going to get the GoPro 11 and I have been watching a lot about why I should not get one. I wish they would listen to us out here and make it better. What I do is turn off all my screen on my 9 and it really helps a lot try doing that.
I wish they would listen too lol. But... they're not making these cameras for the guy that intend to run them constantly. I think the 9 is the peak performer when it comes to doing what we do.
@@OklahomasWorstAngler I would agree with you, I got the nine I have not tried the 11 but from the reviews like yourself and many others, I’ve watched say the same thing. I have had the 7 and the 8 and now the 9, was thinking about getting me 11 but I don’t know now!
I want to start getting recordings of my top water pond fishing but I have been hesitant on what GoPro I should start with and this will help me a lot , if you could recommend one for a first timer I would greatly appreciate it Thank you !!!
Absolutely happy to help Danny!! If I were you, and going with GoPro… I’d say get the 8 or 9. BUT for close to the same price of those… you can get the DJI Action 3. And if you’re wearing a chesty, that’s definitely the one I’d recommend! The field of view is wider than all the GoPros widest 👊🏻 hopefully this helps!

You guys don't own umbrellas for your gopros? Rookie... haha! Look into them though, seriously they work... but you have to have a media mod for the cold shoe.
🤣 rookie moves! Lol Dude I wish an umbrella could solve this issue, that’s why I did it in the garage so it wasn’t under direct heat. 12:40 is just unreal either way. Now I’m positive if I did 2.7K or 1080 it would’ve lasted longer! But again, 4K is the present/future. And, like I said in the video, I’m sure the media mod wasn’t helping the situation. Still, 12:40 lol
