The Hip and Explosive paradigm shift of Mozart Tsugaru Shamisen performed by Masahiro Nitta, Kevin Kmetz, and Mike Penny at the site of the Sannai-Maruyama archeological ruins in Japan, outside Aomori.
The slapping of the Buchi put me off but the co-ordination and syncronisation of the playing was brilliant. If the star rating was here, i'd definitly give a 5, Purly for idea of doing this, then theres the fact you actually pulled it off to a god damned crowd.
Heh... despite the fact that one of them was louder than the others, making soem of the little solo parts a bit too soft, it was pretty good! Nicely done!
@guyverunit1 you are probably right in reference to older shamisen such as the Okinawa style etc. but for most of us looking at it`s recent history, The Shamisen as it is known today has for the most part used silk strings and only VERY recently has added nylon. But again, the Shamisen itself has a very long history. Over 400 years in Japan alone and much longer if you trace it`s Chinese roots.
@guyverunit1 not even close! catgut strings where used or others like the cello and violin. also for medical strings. as inuyashaluver1 pointed out the shamisens strings are made from silk or nylon.
@kabivose Dude, don't besserwisser the besserwisser! It's KUROGUY who said "piano songs", not me. Furthermore, never besserwisser comments many years old. Noone cares. ('cept me ofc!)
@majnjord Despite what iTunes seems to think, not all pieces of music are songs. Do you know the words to the Turkish Rondo? No? There's a reason for that - it's not a song.
