11:34 that's a reference to Boo in the first movie! Her file says she's afraid of snakes. That's why Randall was her monster. And when she saw Sulley roar, she cried instead of screaming.
sophie saying she likes this better than monster inc makes me feel so validated as people are always so confused when i say i like this better than monster inc and that’s my favorite pixar movie
This movie is soooooo underrated. It's along the same vein as Soul, when they remind you just because your life doesn't go the way you planned, doesn’t make everything you went through is worthless.
That's a general rule of thumb about life: it never goes the way you planned, but if you consider it properly, nothing is ever wasted. It feels like a big education system,
Movie: shows a debate team recruiting potential members whilst arguing Sophie: states that she was the president of the debate team in her university, and not always arguing Also Sophie: proceeds to argue her case about misrepresentation of a college debate team in movies
I really like the message in this film where there’s always another route to your dream and not everyone may get to do what they want in life. Which in this case, Mike wishes to become a scarer, but after his dream got shattered, he still got to work at Monsters Inc, except not as a scarer. The same thing can apply to me and to everyone here. For example, my dream that I had since I was in seventh grade was to work in the film industry as a film director, but if I’m not able to achieve this dream, then I can find another position like a producer or an editor because the only thing that matters is that I would still get to be part of the film industry.
What i find ironic is that Mike technically achieved his dream in Monsters Inc when they started getting energy through laughs instead of screams, since he becomes something like a scarer (but instead of scaring, he acts like a comedian)
Honestly... Rendell's back story is Soo sad... But true. Villains are made by bullies, exclusion and temptation from the dark side. Fame and fortune. In the end... Rendell was corrupted:( but he had a good soul
Sophie: She looks like. *SEES THE LEGS* UGH Mike: She broke the all time scare record in that very can. Sophie: I bet look at her legs! I hate her centipede legs too! 😭
I'm glad that Sophie liked this as so did I when I was a child, I did like this movie more compared to monsters inc but simply for nostaglic reasons, even though it wasn't recieved well too many. So glad to see another person like this movie.
I really loved this movie as well. And it’s really difficult to do a prequel without contradicting future plot or making the characters too underdeveloped to the point of being terrible. Every character felt like a natural back pedal from their monsters inc persona and as you said the messages in this movie were fantastic
When you think about it, Mike didn't become a Scarer as he dreamed of when he was a kid but he did become a Jokester (a term that wasn't coined in Monsters, Inc. but in it's "sequel/mid-quel" series Monsters At Work, which I recommend, it tells that happens between the climax of Inc. and the final scene) with Sulley becoming the boss of MI.
Your eyes never change size from when you’re a baby to when you die. Your nose and ears however never stop growing. So I think it makes sense that mike’s eye is the same size when he was little 🤣🤣
I like both movies, but I have to give the edge to University as the better movie. I think the message of, “You can work as hard or more than anybody and your dreams still may not work out,” is a better message to prepare kids for the real world. Disappointment is a big part of life, but they do a good job of showing that just because things don’t work out as planned doesn’t mean you can’t be successful. Loved the reaction! God bless! 💜🙏🏼
I actually really like this movie. It carries a great message. "You are not special". The reality won't be adjusting to you. YOU are the one, who will adjust to the reality. This is what Mike has done. He came to realization, that he's not scary. And he accepted it.
I was TERRIFIED of the principal when I was a kid, she was the one of the actually scary character in the movie (besides the librarian) and I think it's what made me interested in horror. Plus, the scene at the party where they get made fun of is what made me scared of going to social events JSSHKSB
When I was a kid I first watched Monsters University before Monsters Inc so i thought MU was the first movie so naturally I really liked this movie much more than MI, so I really liked Randall so I couldn't understand why people hated Randall lmao I realised years later its cos of MI
"People act like the debate team people argue all the time." Starts to argue and debatesplain on why that is not true. Immediately afterwards: Roasts contemporary art
When the monsters touched the statue you were worried about contamination. Turns out bronze has antibacterial properties. Within 2hrs that statue would be germ free. I suppose it doesn't help they were all touching it within seconds of each other.
The movie was sooo severely underated! Major thanks for covering it! I seriously hoped other sororoties and fraterneties actually realized how severely they bullied thr Ok
I don't get the hate behind this film It was pretty fun, it didn't mess with the canon of the original and instead expanded upon that pretty originally
Nooooo. Remember? In the first the first movie Mike and Sully knew each other in 4th grade, but in this movie they didn't meet till college! How could they get such an important detail wrong?! 0/10 Unwatchable (OK, but seriously, I have seen people get mad that this movie contradicts a throw-away line. Like, not nitpicking, like genuinely angry. It's weird... I do like this movie tho)
About the touching the statue's paw, that's from students touch a statue at a college/university and it has been worn down a bit from people touching it over the years.
Oh you just had to add the Toy Story 3 ending. This and Toy Story 3 both came out before I graduated high school and it was like saying good bye to my childhood but from an animation team I grew up with. Monsters didn’t make me cry as much, Toy Story however I was balling my eyes out.
Ever since your Monsters Inc video I've been excited for this reaction! Monsters Inc is one of my favourite Pixar movies, but I agree that MU is also amazing, I love its messages and themes. I had the same reaction as you about Randall being Mikes roommate when I first saw it haha. Glad you enjoyed this movie as well, can't wait to see what's next!
Great reaction. As we have all been unfortunately learning about the internet, it's easier to play on someone's fears than it is to make someone laugh. Comedy requires talent and usually intelligence.
So, if you don't scare correctly, the child will cry instead of scream, which will alert the parents and the monster world will be discovered. They seriously don't know human children well. Even if the child screams, they will still cry as the second stage of their fright.
Monsters University came out when I was in university. The original came out in 2001, Monsters University in 2013. So the original audience of the first movie would have been in university or just graduated when the new one came out.
Little fact: a thousand millions actually exists in Spanish speaking countries (idk if in more countries), for us a billion is like this 1,000,000,000,000
Hey Sophie I just wanted to let you know I love monsters Inc. and monsters University I just wanted to come here and leave you a nice kind comment because you always brighten my day love you Oliver
I totally relate to getting creeped out by hardscrabbles legs. One night while I was in bed a centipede ran past my face and under MY PILLOW, I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night even after I got him.
Hi I just found your RU-vid channel because I am learning English and I think that watching your videos will help me a lot. Thanks for that and for making videos like this, they are so much fun girl :D
I recommend Shrek movies. All four of them. They all bring nostalgic memories to me. First came out in 2001. I was one year old. When it was launched in both theaters and worldwide. I was born in 2000. My dob is: 19 January 2000.
This is a criminally underrated film. I love it. The worldbuilding is amazing (the scene of Mike's first day really does take me back to my own first day in college) and the message of this movie is raw and relatable. Honestly, the only criticism of this movie that I have is that Randall's origin story seems undercooked. I just don't think enough happened to him in this movie to transition him from the fresh-faced optimistic guy at the start to the antagonist of the original movie.
My favorite character is Hardscrabble. She's strict and often way too harsh, but she's still a headteacher and not a villain. When she said "I will look for more surprises in my program", she already took action starting from recruiting the Oozma Kappa team, even though they didn't win (and they would've been second place if the cheating thing didn't happen).
If you want to see a university with hallways like in the movie, go to University of Pittsburgh - Cathedral if Learning. Very medieval castle look to it.
I somehow enjoy this movie more than the original (tho original had and outstanding, iconic soundtrack). It's probably because I'm one of those people who aren't meant for college despite my love for reading and gaining knowledge till I hit a bedrock of expertise in areas I'm interested in. However, not only my brain is wired in a way that makes school difficult but I also got complex trauma thanks to our wonderful education system and being surrounded by idiot adults who made every issue 10 times worse. By the time I got to college, I was a shipwreck of a person with no idea how to study for exams, be able to memorize things and drag myself through deep depression without any help. I left and it's okay. I can do something else and still keep my passions in my life via hobbies. It's probably better this way.
Great video! It’s always nice to see you discover a movie going beyond your expectations! I personally love the message that dreams cannot be reachable for everyone. However, the efforts that may have been made by trying it always lead somewhere. It's not a moral that Disney tends to convey.
Hey Sophie I’m glad you enjoyed the movie, I kinda wish it was a sequel since I’m not really interested in prequels unless there’s something there in the future of a film’s franchise. Anyway there’s a monsters inc tv show on Disney plus called monsters at work, you’ll love it trust me. My movies request are: Kingsman the secret service Big momma’s house Good burger The mask She’s the man C’mon y’all put some likes in if you wanna see Sophie react to these movies
#SophieLents, you're so sweet. Thank you so much for uploading this awesome movie reaction. I love your content because it's so cool, and I really enjoy watching you react to different movies.
i have to say i like this film for what it is but its a prequel and i never feel like prequels are as intresting also i like dean hardscrabble as a villain if you even want to call her that helen mirren does a good job
I recommend Anastasia. It is based on the historical events. Of the Russian revolution starting in October 1917. Bolsheviks rising and abolishing the Romanovs. Russia's last dynastic imperial family. Prior to Vladimir Lenin's establishment of the Soviet Union. The real events happened in Russia. From the years of 1917 - 1922. Soviet Union came into existence on 30 December 1922. Both the Communist Bolsheviks and Lenin himself have deposed Tsar Nicholas 2. With his family members. Alongside with the loyalist white army. Officially Lenin created the country's political party. Commonly titled the Communist party. Lenin himself became the absolute supreme leader. And founder of the Soviet Union. Was also known as (Union of Soviet socialist republics).
