I don't know. I guess we hadn't thought about it or prepared for it. We have cooked up some that my daughter caught on a field trip before.

actually catch and release the way these guys did in this video is NOT a death sentence for those trout. The vast majority of trout survive.

When properly handled about 2% of stream trout die, about 20% of lake trout die on catch and release. When fly fishing in a stream with barbless with minimal handling with hook in the mouth they survive the vast majority of the time. Lots of variables…..no question deep hook is bad news.
