#montegobay #jamaica #airplane The eastern end of the runway completed to increase runway length to over 10000 feet plus projects in progress to modernize the sangsters international airport,do enjoy the video
I work for Delta Airlines and have family living in Jamaica. I fly 4 to 5 times a year to Jamaica and always wonder when will they upgrade the runway. I’m proud to see that this has happened. Big up Jamaica!
I use to hang out at this airport back in the day as a little kid. I could go to the observation deck and watch the planes take off & arrive see my uncle signaling the planes coming in , walk thru customs back & forth it's just such a different world now...both my dad & uncle worked at the SDSIA (MBJ). Yes their was a gas station at the airport I remember that from at least 1974' - 75' . Then in 1976 when I took my first flight on an airplane to go to Disney World on vacation, it's funny how time flies.
Great to have brought back some pleasant memories for you Anthony all the way to when we had waving galleries, thanks for watching do have a great day now
Great video thanks for the update. I can see Montego Bay airport is really expanding well and moving ahead to accommodate larger aircrafts. Thanks again Stewy really love your videos.
Thanks Paul you have been with the channel for awhile, thanks for your continued support it has been greatly appreciated, have a blessed one now and thanks again
Guadeloupe’s Pointe-a-Pitre airport is 10,266, Piarco in Trinidad is 10,499, Grantley Adams is 11,000, Georgetown is 11,023, Curaçao has 11,188 & Suriname has 11,417, Jose Marti in Cuba is a whopping 13,123 feet with Varadero boasting 11,490 feet.
I do hope you are planning to continue making videos on Sangster International Airport when the runway is all done. The government has plans to overhaul the infrastructure of the airport to make it look like a modern spectacle, so I hope you are there for it when it happens. Hopefully you can do the same for the other international airports (Norman Manley and Ian Fleming) when they too expand themselves.
This is something I love to do as I am very much interested in the happenings myself, so as long as there's good and God's willing you will see the improvements on this channel, have a great one and thanks for watching and commenting much appreciated
MBJ stepping up little at a time, will be a very modern airport when completed. Hope there will be additional gates to match the traffic. Another Canadian airline will be joining in December.
Little by little they grow, I think they're are gate plans in the pipeline too , will definitely keep you updated, quite a few new airlines showing interest for the winter season, have a blessed one and thanks for watching
I was there during the construction and opening of that fire station. When construction ended at night, we had to walk down to the old fire station and wait for pickup. When they started overnight working we had wifi in the container till they renovated the old transformer room for the security. The new fire station is called "fire hall" by staff
Well done Stewy continue the good work, Montego Bay International has come a long way, and I know there more developments still to come, at present it looks absolutely fantastic. The contractors are doing a great job, big up yu self Stewy.
Thanks very much Norman appreciate the comment, most definitely more to come especially to deal with the traffic on the road leading into the airport, have a great one now
I hope we get to see alot of triple 777-300ER land at Sangster Int'l Airport. Air Canada 🇨🇦 did it once, and they'll do it again now that the runway is expanded to accommodate the larger aircraft's.
It's always good to see infrastructural development in your home country so excited is how I feel about this, thanks as always Julia much appreciated have a blessed one
We need a look at the inside of the airport weve already had enough of the outside take us inside so we could see the new developments..i haven't been home in over 4 years now so id love to see how the inside looks now after all thw redevelopment
I understand what you are saying, but how do I get in the airport to do a video, the airport is for people who are traveling and the airport interior is filled with persons who might not want their pictures taken, have a blessed one and thanks for watching and commenting
Great job you're doing. Keep up the good work. 👍 I notice with all your comments, you've miss out on one key piece of development which has already Finished too. The newly renovated and also the 2 newly created car parking down by cargo side.
Thanks very much, I will definitely go check out those new parks and include them in a future video, have a blessed one and thanks for watching and commenting
Stewy...do you think they should/could build out another terminal building behind the new control tower? Also...why aren't they building a multi floor parking garage at Sangster Airport?
I think they could,I think they will go to the other side of gate 1 down towards the cargo area first though, I haven't heard of a multi floor parking but more parking lots been created
@@1STEWY yes...beyond gate one towards the cargo warehouse makes sense...but that raises the question of why they aren't using the old cruise ship/charter terminal at the Western end of the runway to alleviate the congestion at the main terminal...?
While I applaud the efforts the Jamaican government is putting into upgrading the Sangster Airport, I can't help but think it's mainly to facilitate the tourist industry or perhaps the potential involvement of the US military in the future. Here's a question: Is the government aggressively improving education? Education should be free, and teachers should be paid handsomely as they are responsible for nurturing a country's educated and skilled citizens. Additionally, how about modernizing hospitals and enhancing the salaries of nurses and doctors? Are the police and military personnel being adequately compensated? What programs is the government implementing to prevent brain drain and attract the diaspora? How is the government exploring our natural resources to benefit the people? Why does it seem that only a small group of elites can afford choice meats while those in ghetto areas can't even afford 'chicken back'? And why do most people in rural areas lack access to running water in a country known as the land of wood and water? Is the system intentionally designed to keep the black population poor and oppressed as a means of control?
I hear your concerns and they are genuine concerns but I'm afraid I don't have the answers , I do these videos just to show the happenings and I genuinely love aviation but thanks for watching the video and you have a blessed one
@@1STEWY my questions were for the world Stewy. I wasn’t expecting you to have the answers. I’ll say this you’re guilty for chronicling an excellent work in progress on the airport project. Rest for all your other videos. Shalom
@sbf254...the money to build more hospitals and to pay medical professionals and teachers better mostly comes from the same tourist industry earnings that Sangster Airport expansion earns via foreign currency revenue growth....
@@garfieldwhittaker944 It's truly baffling how some individuals remain short-sighted, continuously advocating for the transient tourism industry. The Jamaican government has relied on foreign exchange since establishing a client state in the 1980s. Despite this, professions like teachers, nurses, police officers, and other essential workers are still undervalued. A nation's economic prosperity hinges on developing the middle class, fostering small businesses, advancing manufacturing, technology, and agriculture-not solely relying on tourism. Unless the aim is to perpetuate poverty and dependence on government with hidden agendas.
@@sbf254 I do understand your argument. But the reality remains that both the island's tourism industry and remittances constitute our main sources of crucial foreign exchange revenues that ultimately serve to fund the importation of the various expensive technologies used by educators, medical professionals, small businesses etc., etc..
Okay good. Now time to put the cargo ramp at the incinerator next to the tower and move the incinerator next to the jet center, according to their diagrams.
Sounds like you have good information in regards to the future developments ,that would make it possible to go west with the gates, have a blessed one and thanks for watching and commenting
I noticed the construction put in a turning bay but no expansion of the taxiway. Do you know if that was a cost cutting measure or space limitations to the Ironshore main road?
That was what they started out to build according to the plan created but off the southern side of the turning Bay there's the beginning of a taxi way so definitely some future works for that area,I heard the cargo area will be relocated as to accommodate the expansion of the terminal building westward, what ever happens I will keep you updated, have a blessed one Gary
Are there plans to renovate the terminal as well? Wen through in April and saw a lot of work has been done and is continuing in the departure area but arrivals, immigration/customs and baggage claim is still very overcrowded.
Most definitely, all that area where the present sign is will be cleared (the sign beside the building to be relocated) and building expanded to create more space for those areas you mentioned, have a blessed one

@@1STEWY if I’m not mistaken, Ed Bartlett inked a deal with Emirates sometime last year for direct flights 🛫 directly to Jamaica…..I might have read that wrong. Have a blessed one!
@@Dvane816 Yes an agreement was made at the Arabian travel market in Dubai in 2022 , where Kingston and Montego Bay was added to Emirates ticketing systems , but wouldn't be direct flights , have a blessed one
