I remember watching this video with curiosity but little motivation a few years ago, just out of fun, because I simply loved this channel. I can't believe I'm back to it now, to get DIY ideas for my 9month daughter ❤ love you Ashley! 😘
Yeah it blows my mind how pricey Montessori toys/tools are! Maria Montessori started her child learning house for poor children. It was not intended to be only for rich kids, but today only wealthy families can send their kids to those school or afford the materials.
@@HapaFamily it’s called Disneyland haha Walt made it for families and the greedy men took over and have officially made it unaffordable. Thank you for these videos! God bless you momma!
Hi Ashley I loved this video. Yours is the first of the montessori videos I’ve watched so far which stays true to the “most of the raw materials you can find at home” concept. All the ideas are simple and easy and sound like they’ve come from real kids (or maybe my child is a lot like yours are 😂) AND you’ve hit the nail on the head about avoiding mess in the activities put out. I want to let my kid make a mess, but not EVERY SINGLE DAY!
My son is 15 months and he loves every single activity you have mentioned this is a must loved it 🙏 thanks will get crafty and have funnn🎉 ❤loved I can across your video 😊
Absolutely loving this series ❤ I have a 21 month old baby girl and I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant too and I'm finding your channel so much relatable and awesome to watch!! 💞 thank you!
You could even make an activity of painting the shaker containers. That way if you’re using a container that they’re familiar with, they don’t confuse it with the food or object they usually associate the container with
This video is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much! I want to implement Montessori toys and learning with my 12 month old and I've been wanting to make homemade toys for him and the ones you showed are so cute!
This is so helpful to me. I was watching your baby led weaning videos.I have an 9 month old and wanted to do a mix of pureed and solid foods. After a while I came across this and I was so happy with all the simple/budget friendly ideas you give. I have a six year old deaf daughter who has had a bit of a delay in learning so these will be very good for her! I waa running out of ways to learn her new things because for a deaf person everything is very visual. Thank you sooo sooo much❤🤗
I love this video too! Also there is a program from Can do kiddo (a legit feeding specialist rather than someone who has only personal experience) the program is called Food Before One. I just watched it and it teaches how to do a mix of pureed and solid foods and how to safely transition into solids. It was super educational because its like a course it's not free but It's totally worth it you may want to look into it.
I really enjoyed this video ❤ We are doing a no spend year in 2019 so a lot of these homemade activities with come in handy as I have a 1 and 2 year old!
Do i have kids? No. Do i find this fascinating? YES. This is kinda what i would make for myself when i was a kid. This is awesome and soooo cool to reuse ur everyday stuff for ur kids :)
Thank you so much my mother has some anger issues and resolves to hitting and even hits my dad when they fights so now my younger brother is very violent so I wanna raise him right thank you
Great video. My husband always gets comments from his work colleagues assuming that we must have a lot of money because we want to use the Montessori approach. I think it’s because the majority of people don’t realise that Montessori is simply a mindset, rather than having all these bells and whistles attached. Yes it’s nice to have some good quality toys, but we can just as easily recreate them at home with cardboard boxes, crafting supplies, etc. I think if more people knew what Montessori was, and used their own supplies, all these toy companies would have to reduce the prices of their products.
Hi! I came across your video recently and I made the popsicle sticks with the slits in the container for my twin 22 month olds. They LOVE it! Thank you for sharing. I plan to use some of your other DIY toys. 😊
I don't have kiddos and while I may adopt one day, I'm not having any biologically for multiple reasons. Oddly enough, and despite the fact that I'm not a mama, I really enjoy watching your videos and am always struck by how lucky your daughters are to have you as a mom! It's great that you're helping other parents as well. The world needs all the good parents it can get :-)
I wish I had started looking all this stuff up before having kids! I'm learning now and putting things together but if I could do it over I would have had all these activities planned and ready to go for my children.
FANTASTIC ASHLEY!! I've been doing 80% of these without knowing that it was Montessori related. Thanks for sharing all the info and your life... if I could👍🏻more than once, I would do it 100 times! 😁
The wipe box thing is also fun for a child who wants to imitate mommy or daddy taking care of a baby sibling. S/he can take wipes for his/her own "baby". A coffee cup and straw makes a pretty good toy as well. I can even see how some of those cards can work well for older kids. Say you have a card with pictures of soap, a toilet, and a towel. They can put them in order: First you go potty, then you wash your hands with soap, and finally you dry your hands with a towel. Over time, you can add more cards and make it more complex. I'm all for finding materials that grow with your child.
This is fantastic! I'm due my little one in June and my sister has recommended this channel and I'm really excited to get making these toys and learning more about Montessori :-)
My daughter loves things like that too! I love the idea of her having one of her own with old cards to play with. I save more things than I'm sure I should and have cards I could use to fill a wallet!
This is a great idea thank you!! That makes perfect sense, just to give them alternatives to the things they are already doing that they are not supposed to do.
Thank you for this video!!! I have been struggling to find affordable toys for my 14 month old that will help develop his fine motor skills. He has a dev delay and I often don’t know what will help him or what he can do. These ideas will be so fun to try with him!
Hi Ashley, Thank you for the fantastic ideas! I have taken your online course for Montessori at home toddler, and it gave me such an inspiration. I run my own youtube channel thorough which I deliver evidence-based parenting knowledges, and I recently started spreading some montessori ideas to Korean subscribers. I wonder if you mind if I introduce some of your ideas to my subscribers? (of course I will mention your channel when I do so.) I would definitely recommend your channel to them as well, But there’s just language barrier, and I think it would much helpful for them if I deliver it myself in Korean, too! Your sharing is really helpful for me, and for all other Korean mothers who watches my videos! Thank you :)
Wow brilliant ideas. Immediately after watch this i tried rice bottle one and my 1 year daughter got so amazed and started playing. Rest of the Items i don’t have now. But will definitely try later to make the other ones also. Thank you.
This is amazing! Love how most of these are free and I feel better about reusing containers I would normally trash. I've been stashing a lot of containers knowing I could use them to make activities and toys for my daughter. I've used a yogurt container as a ball post but then she kinda destroyed it and I wasn't inspired to DIY anymore. Now I'm so excited to try out all of your ideas. Thank you!
This is so helpful my 2 year old daughter loves arts and crafts and learning numbers and colours I'm running put of ideas to keep her occupied while in lockdown I'm definitely going to try these out
Hi! Thank you for making this video. I really wanted to try Montessori at home to my 1 year old baby but its true that Montessori toys are quite expensive. I love how you DIY your baby's toys.
@happafamily omg I did a bunch of these for my son...and his fav word become "open" 🥴🥴👀👀 lol. then the melt down may happen, have you ever encountered that???
Oh my goodness I love the sensory food bags! I'm like Ezra plays with one, Mama plays with the other, we have hours of fun 😂 sensory anything is so much fun! I am loving this series Ashely, it's SO helpful. I'd never even heard of this until you so thank you again for doing this. I'm so excited for when Ezra is a bit bigger to try all of these exciting activities! Such wonderful ideas!
You are definitely right about the age when we are talking about toys. It's true and I have an example with my boyfriend who built things and figures of Lego made for older kids at the age of 10- 12 when he was much younger. He created things with Lego with his own fantasy like an electric "foam machine"
Great work my God ..superb Ideas I will definitely try them. Thankyou so much. One question please, The language cards how to make them like first you took out the pictures by printing machine and then on which card or sheet you pasted them? Could you please explain more on that or if you have video regarding that just give me the link. I will be very thankful to you.
I found the pictures on the internet and printed them out from my computer on regular copy paper. Then I cut them apart and laminated them so they would last longer. That's all! :)
any suggestions for a 12month old who is obsessed with fitting lids on. I have painted the different containers and lids to do color matching, but anything else I can recycle them into? Thanks for this, it was full of great, simple ideas!
Can anyone help me understand: what is the difference between having the Familiar Faces cards and the Classification cards? Why can we put names under the faces cards but not under the classification cards?
So I have tried the water bottle ones and she likes the one with the rice the best. Really trying to improve her concentration. Her eyes are just everywhere at the moment 🤣
This was so helpful and informative! I'm a new mama and have a 7 month old and was running out of ideas for activities and learning. I have turned my day in to a craft day and excited for my daughter to wake up from her nap to play with what I have created using your video. :) thank you!
i really like your parenting tips n watch Montessori at home regularly with my mom. i love diys n had a wish to do few stuff for my lil one. but, my baby has a habit of putting everything into its mouth n throwing things. so doesnt work for me :-(
Do you have to watch your daughter 100% when she's playing with the bucket filled with beans? My fear is that she may want to swallow one. Do you ever run into that issue?
I did when she was younger. In more recent months, she has become much less interested in putting things in her mouth and instead is genuinely interested in using items like that for their original intent, as in scooping and pouring. However, I know that there are some children who have a great propensity to put things in their mouth all the way through toddlerhood. So it’s definitely something you’ll have to feel out and decide for your unique child. :)
Omg thank you so much. My 17 month old girl is starting to get into everything!! I feel like sometimes she gets bored of playing with the same old thing. But i will definitely be making pretty much ALL of these examples lol. Mom life!! ❤ 👍
Laura Lynn Everything for kids now is made from either rubber or foam cuz it's soft to play with. So with your logic everything they touch is toxic really and your kid wouldn't be allowed to play with anything.
This is truly the best video I’ve seen on fun yet educational and inexpensive things to do with a baby/toddler. I’m a new nanny and this is so helpful! I can’t wait to do all these things with my little boy!
New to your channel and u have some great ideas .we have 4 children our youngest is 15 months old.we have just made him a sensory table.have u made anything like that.
