An ‘Ultimate Marvel 1’ would be cool. All characters and stages from the pre-mvc2 games, 2v2, 6button config. Capcom won’t do it though. It’ll be up to the online community to create an emulated version of it. I’m down to learn and contribute if anyone else knows how to do this stuff.
My birthday's also in late September, I'm not asking for too much honestly and I never get any presents nomore but this year ... just a collection of all the marvel vs games would make a brother happy
It's beautiful how fluid and fast the art and animations were in these games....such a shame that CRTs are dead and companies dont take an interest in giving games like these ether advance AI scaling it to HD or using some type of filter that replicates what these games from the 90s were meant to appear like....even so glorious 240p in all its glory...
Can we take a moment to appreciate how good Omega Red's stage is? It has this really cool pseudo 3D effect and the background in general is full of detail, this game has some of my favourite stages out of the old fighting games.
I'm honestly hyped as fuck mutants are actually a thing in Marvel games again after UA3 and Insomniac's Wolverine game They were literally about to be replaced by Inhumans because Marvel's weirdo CEO was afraid their comics would cross promote a rival studio's films lmao
Yeah but I like the inhumans man and they ruined them (except Black Bolt genuinely love the guy they hired to play him and theh wrote him perfectly, everyone else, pure garbage. Especially medusa).
I'm a DC boy who pokes his head into Marvel just for Spiderman stuff really. Though I liked some of the new inhuman characters outside their royal family via cartoons and games. So what is gonna happen with them you think?
I don't play videogames anymore, and I was never good at fighting games, so I just watch Max for nostalgia. I have no idea how good it is mechanically, but I fucking love how this game looks. It seems slower, but I can follow the action so clearly. The characters all feel really different in animation, with personality. MvC2 is like the upper limit of where I can actually follow what's happening, and that's only because I grew up with it. High level Guilty Gear is like visual pop rocks. The only modern fighter that reminds me of this is MK, in terms of characters feeling different. Anyway, I could watch a lot of this game and not get bored, or exhausted trying to keep up.
Man I can barely follow MVC2 gameplay, most vs games are hard for me to follow because there’s so much going on at one time. Have you ever watched Max or anyone else play Ultimate MVC 3? The gameplay gets way crazier than in mvc 2
Hell, EVERYONE had more unique animations in CotA than in MVC2. It's more apparent for the fighters that didn't appear in playable form again in a Vs/hyper game until MvC2 like Iceman, Colossus, Sentinel, Silver Samurai, and Spiral - where some of their moves were cut (namely the ones that relied on strong/forward inputs) along with stripped animations. Just look at Colossus's Giant Swing at 11:03 for example: he AND the character grabbed has a unique frame to make a full smooth rotation of movement. To replicate the same effect for MvC2 would require tons of additional work to make new "grabbed" sprites for the non-CotA fighters so most of Colossus's grab animation is his profile keyframe mirrored repeatedly with a tornado motion effect added, and whomever's grabbed recycles their appropriate damage sprite. On the plus side, they did give him some additional frames while he goes airborne with Giant Swing, though.
They don't make fighting games like this anymore! Fighting games now are mostly button mashing simple. These games took pure skill to play and be good at.
@@Mister_Prime then what do you call Dragon Ball FighterZ? What do you call Guilty Gear? What do you call Blaz Blue? What do you call Smash? What do you call Street Fighter V?
*Marvel Its spelled out correctly in your profile name with the exception of the extra letters "ous". Duuuuuuuuuh! It's not slang, it's more of how some people pronounce it because of their accent. Example: New York accent , Alabama accent. Duhx2
How would Rocket Raccoon, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Deadpool, X-23, Black Panther, Taskmaster, Gamora, Iron Fist, Nova, Ghost Rider, Super Skrull, Captain Marvel, Jean Grey, Doctor Fate, She Hulk, M.O.D.O.K., Ultron, Dormammu and Galactus be like with this pixel art style of 90s arcade fighting game?
Yes but only if she's ála shang sung mechanics. Morphing into the entire roster during gameplay. If not, then get her out a here cuz she'll be boring asf without morphing.
I definitely would! She could be a cool character cus she can change into anyone so she could potentially mimic the entire roster. There’s a ton of characters I wanna see in mvc if we ever get another installment. If they ever do that the game needs to have a massive roster like ultimate mvc3 and mvc 2 did
I really hope all this freemvc2 pressure leads to something great. Also always great to see some boss rage comtent, also was the difficulty changed from medium 4? If not that shit looked frustrating af for medium
I’m staying in Vegas currently. Will go home in a few days. At my hotel, directly below the casino, there’s an arcade. There’s a few good games like Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, Cruisn’ Blast, etc. But at the back, I found not one, but two MvC2 cabinets (one of them was missing the P2 joystick). And the weirdest part? Unlike the other games, these were FREE TO PLAY, as in no credits required. So, TL;DR, I literally found Free MvC2.
Dude! I know what hotel that is. I totally know which machines you're talking about. I was in Vegas last week and found those exact machines as well. Even down to the missing P2 fight stick. Hell I thought one of the machines was MvC1 because the machine had MvC1 artwork on it but it was of course MvC2 like you said Pretty wild
This is the game that started my passion for fighting games. I was literally 5 or 6 years old beating people 2-3 times my age down at the movie theater. I always used iceman and my highest streak was 15. 🤘
When I didn't know the combos I'd Optic Blast my friends into oblivion. Once I learned the combos my friends stopped playing this with me at the mall arcade. I took all they coins 😆😂
It’s currently 2AM and I’m having trouble to sleep right now but everytime it’s late I laugh over the dumbest crap. But the constant groaning and moaning coming out of iceman everytime he’s throwing an ice ball is having me in tears rn.
This was the first game my parents got my for my PS1. Still remember my younger brother doing specials by button mashing while I raged trying to figure them out. I wasn't the brightest kid.
God, I loved this game... Edit: I have also always loved that we fight Magneto at the location Wolverine got his Adamantium ripped out. That shit was crazy!
2:02 It's amazing. The AAMA existed as early as 1994. I thought they were established in 1995 as not much American arcade games in 1994 used AAMA ratings
The way they asked where wolverine is at the end reminded me of Homer saying that the other characters should ask "Where's Poochie?" when he's not on screen.
George Buza, who voiced just Beast in the 90’s cartoon did v/o work for Colossus, Magneto, Omega Red, and Juggernaut in this game. Dude was outstanding
Omega Red’s theme was so chilled and laid back. Magneto definitely had a BOSS theme especially when he was coming down to crush all your hopes and dreams.
When I was young.. I always played this game as much as I could in the arcade when I was in spain. Wolfy was the one I used since his Heavy Punch was sooo big :D
GOD TIER OPENING 👏👏👏 also you have made me want to once again jump on this. We had a CotA cabinet in the rec room at college but that wasnt until 97, so I didnt spend much time with it until I eventually got a Saturn
My humble opinion Magneto in X-Men cota was the hardest boss in the Old school Marvel fighting games obviously the CPU ain't invincible. With wolverine when he flies, you corner him and do the Dragon punch tornado claw with fierce over and over to juggle magneto until he dies.
