I first played this at the arcade. I was lucky to have a Sega Saturn and a 4mb flash cart so back then I got to play the best console version of this game. It was awesome because the animations were awesome and you had the tag mode. The PS1 version had so many cuts it's pitiful.
I remember playing this one a whole bunch, and then I learned there were hidden playable characters! The next thing I knew, I was blowing away my foes with Star Star as Captain America and U.S. Agent.
There was US Agent, Shadow Charlie, armored zangief, armored spider man, sunburned/dark Sakura, in the Japanese version you had noimaru can't spell his name. Noimaru was a super fan character and was bonkers.
The easiest character to beat Cyber Akuma is actually Shuma Gorath. Because it's level 3 super is throw based and can be utilised at a whim. Cyber Akuma armor does not negate throw damage, you can take off 30% of his health in one go unlike all nearly other supers that are nerfed by the armor. Use to just solo him on difficulty 8 with squipmeister. XD
"I AM CYBER AKUMA!!! I AM DEMON AND MACHINE COMBINED INTO THE PERFECT BEING!!! WHAT SORT OF POWER COULD YOU POSSIBLY POSSESS THAT COULD RIVAL MY UNEQUALED STRENGTH"?!?! ..."Input reading". "GRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH"!!!!!!!
I agree. The novelty of playing as Marvel characters, especially in the arcade era, was much stronger. Seeing how they'd translate to the medium of fighting games-- especially for Supers-- was always a treat
There are so many parts of this game that I'd love back in a marvel game. Especially the super move names showing up after a KO, it's so silly but it's great.
I would play this game for HOURS. I would play the music in the background and try to get all the artwork. I still have Wolverine's theme on my soundcloud Playlist. It's so iconic to me.
The ending is mad interesting in my opinion . They are playing off that fact that at this point in the comics wolverine doesn't remember his past. So for a crossover it makes all the sense in the world to throw in a badass like Akuma and hint that he knows Logan from back in the day. That and like chun li joining the xmen are fun lil endings with a bit of intrigue. Not complete jokes like street fighter 5 endings
God. Being young in the 90s was really cool. Sure other decades, had there thing, but nothing can touch marvel heroes vs street fighter. Not even smash brothers.
There's always like, 2.5 of these characters in every game, just to eat quarters. MSH had Spidey and Juggernaut. XvSF had Cammy and Rogue. This has Cyclops and Cyber. MvC has CapCom and Hiryu. MvC2 has Storm and Rogue.
For me this was the defenitive game in the VS series, even when you end the fight with a special the announcer call it ! MVC dont have that kind of vibe
Oh good lord cyber akuma. I tried to erase that from my memory. He was super overpowered. In the Japanese Sega Saturn game I knew him as mech gouki lol
I had no problems beating Cyber Akuma. I used characters like Ryu, Wolverine, Ken, Cyclops, Akuma, Spiderman, Omega Red, Blackheart, Sakura, Captain America & even Bison & Dhalsim
_Welcome to the Adventure!!_ _Look! Spectacular Action!!_ _Behold! Amazing Fantasy!!_ _Feel Sensational Thrills!!_ *10/10 ANNOUNCER.* If only they kept up this format of announcing Hyper Combo Finishers moving forward in the _Marvel vs. Capcom_ series....
If you needed any more reason to play this masterpiece, there you go. Ghost Rider in a tube. (I think Guile, Charlie, Elektra, Balrog and Storm are all inside tubes in that stage as well, but I might be mistaken.)
I remember being on vacation in 97 when I was a kid in seaside heights NJ on the boardwalk looking to play marvel super heroes at one of the many arcades I'd stop to and it was gone. Was so let down until I saw the vendor wheel in marvel super heroes vs street fighter. My first time seeing it. And was first to get a game on the cabinet
Cyber-Akuma was a final boss type that I really wanted to see more of in Capcom's Vs. games: a fast and skilled fighter instead of a giant hitbox tank.
I got to say that this is my fav VS of all, best music, great cast, perfect port on Sega Saturn. I think would be better rerelease all VS in one bundle and not just mvc2 alone.
Too bad there wasn't a Japanese version of what he played. I guess no one will ever know Norimaro's existence. Well, he's there on the left side next to Dan in the video.
@@shen-long9082 me liking capcom characters more has nothing to do with me losing alot, of course i lose lol if i go into fightcade right now i'll get my ass beat but i still prefer the capcom side regardless, i just find them way cooler
Well, I guess that explains why the Marvel vs games are always called "Marvel this" and "Marvel that", cause all of y'all Marvel fan boys never acknowledge the Capcom side. And when y'all see a gamer playing the Capcom characters, y'all blow s**t to them calling them "scrubs" and crap. At least those gamers y'all call scrubs to are open minded, and willing to play with the non Marvel characters, at the end of the day.
Oh snap, i totally remember this game as a child! I totally suck ass as a newbie, but it was so much fun as spider-Man!!! Plus that intro is beyond HYPE!!!!!!!
MSH VS SF! The only game in the series I’ve never truly played. I didn’t even knew it existed till a heard of the Vs. Compilation that came out in the PS3/Xbox360 era!!
I think the ending hints that akuma sees wolverine as a potencial challenger. It would be nice to see an "Evil Wolverine" engulfed by the satsui no hado.
8:14. Ha! Chun doing everything but old school air mk pogo kicking off your head not to get hit! 😁 May your Akuma Red boss vibes carry you through to completion Dood!
I have my modded SFII A1UP play the demo mode for Marvel v Street Fighter for background noise sometimes. Shit is so hype you just have to listen to the announcer pelt out that intro on full blast I get a rush!
So strange in this game characters land on their feet after throws. Used to haver on the Saturn. Still have the case but sold my stuff LONG ago. If you can and you probably have the Saturn version yourself..PLAY AS NORIMARU!!!! Awesome how the announcer yells out the supers when finishing with them.. SHINKUUTASTUIMAKISENPUUKYAKU!! (I'd like some poundcake to the EXTREME!!) Lastly, love Ryu's "Superheroish theme and Wolverines relaxing theme
I never actually saw an arcade of this game until I played it on MAME many years later, I'm not too familiar with it, but it seemed like the red-headed middle child of the VS series; not as memorable as Marvel Super Heroes and not as ground-breaking as X-Men vs Street Fighter, kind of unnecessary, but still pretty cool regardless.
I think Akuma and Wolverine like fighting each other, there was a game in which both reunite to talk about Wolverine's past, not without a fight first, obviously.
My most played among the Marvel VS games. I main Shuma-Gorath and Omega Red/Spider-Man. I don't go to arcades anymore and I wish they will rerelease this on PC with rollback.
Desde que encontré este juego lo juego siempre que pueda en fightcade es tan hype el presentador y sus soundtrack único la canción de akuma zangief mr bisón etc todo el puto soundtrack es lo mejorrr
The point with MvsSF is that the combos were not the main thing ...yet. So special moves do a a lot of damage compared to combos, making comboing not really worth the trouble. Everything changes in Marvel vs Capcom.
