Oh, it's definitely an object lesson in why I didn't keep mine, and why I don't bother with subscription boxes anymore.

The issue with lootcrate and a lot of subscription boxes is that you just have to go with what they randomly throw at you. Some properties or item types they put in the box may not be what you even like, which makes them total duds. You pay some amount of money for one or two cool things and a bunch of clutter, and it sucks.

Well, and so much of it comes off as random con swag that might technically add up to what the box is supposed to be worth, but... like, a poor quality D&D ampersand shirt, really poor quality Game of Thrones house sigil magnets, an inflatable crown sized for a child, a Hogwarts house crest false bowtie, and a Stark house usb drive is not an accumulation of shit I'd *ever* drop $20 *plus shipping* for. I think the Platform 9 3/4 luggage tag was in that box too, but... like that doesn't help? The only way I can see a subscription box *maybe* actually being worthwhile is if you split a year's subscription among you and three or four friends, and then go through boxes together claiming the stuff you care about.

I think subsciption boxes are okay if they're really on-point... But, they are so often not. Lootanime is mostly okay, because it gives you manga and stuff... but I also use the skip feature regularly, if I don't care for the theme, so maybe I'm over-exaggerating. Not to mention how terrible Lootcrates UI is. Why do I have to cancel subscriptions just to add new discounts? Why are all the cancelled and active subscriptions jumbled together!? Use a sorting feature! My god. Also, considering they have regular 30% off and even 40% off codes for the life of the subscription, maybe they're not doing too well. And, yes, they totally have a "bunch of stuff we can't get rid of" service. It's called Loot Vault.

The only subscription boxes I like are the candy/snack ones. Those are mostly just good, and even if it has something you didn't like, you experienced something new.

Definitely the thing that took the most hours of work to make.

I don't know how expensive tripod and boom equipment is but unpainted the 40K stuff is probably over $600 retail. With a quality paint job they can cost much more.

considering the fact that the marine i saw was made by forgeworld? i am not up to date on their prices but i paid 100€ for 10 marines without the close quarter blisters so let me look it up 450€ for the servo marines including upgrades to heavy and assault weapons 160€ for the rhinos 60€ for the lords and the smith 45€ for the bikes 60€ for the obliterators all assuming upgrades to look alike not including dice and tape roughly 800€ 1200 $ Candian

They're getting better. This is only about a month out and the editing on it takes a long time. There were times they were 2, 3, or even 6 months behind. The behind the scenes crew is working hard!

I have had police try to kill me for loitering while I was without shelter, and yet I was able to suppress flashbacks and still mostly enjoy the video. But, sure, I'm super weak.

What +Orion is unhelpfully trying to convey, is that at some point there's just personal responsibility. Trigger warnings are useful for things that are disturbing in general; suicide, graphic violence, gore, sexual abuse. When it's something as common and everyday as "someone dressed as a police officer" it's kind of pointless. It also didn't come out of nowhere, they got the patches, the hat, the vest, unpacking it all and putting it on took quite a while. You could've easily stopped watching if you know that's something that bothers you. It sucks that you have bad experiences and memories connected to a thing, but literally everything can be connected for someone to a bad memory. When you start claiming trigger warnings for all those kinds of things, you turn into one of the people that people like +Orion joke about. And it kind of dilutes the idea of how valuable a legit trigger warning is in my opinion.

TheMrVengeance that would be a relevant critique, if I were demanding that LRR put a trigger warning up, or was pointing out something like trees, but neither of those things are true. I was giving a warning about a group that are well known for abusing power to hurt people, and I was the one giving the warning to people that may read comments as they watch. My story isn’t uncommon, and also isn’t the worst kind of thing that would trigger people with this sort of thing. But, sure, I’m the one that’s unreasonable, and you definitely needed to defend the hateful comment.

First of all, I did not defend the hateful comment, actually the opposite is literally the first thing I wrote. Claiming I did otherwise is just disingenuous. What I'm saying is it's unreasonable to have trigger warnings for everything that triggers anyone. Because that means pretty much anything and everything needs a warning. When someone posted a progress picture on Twitter of their tattoo, I've seen someone get literally full-caps shouting angry that there wasn't a trigger warning for needles. (The tattoo gun was barely in the picture and even then the needles are mostly hidden inside the pen, basically you saw nothing.) When people do that you devalue the importance of trigger warnings. Like I already said, it sucks that where *you* are from police abuse their power and *you* had a traumatic experience, reality is, most people don't. A lot of people might simply dislike or distrust police, but that's not what a trigger warning is for. Anyway, tl;dr is trigger warnings are valuable and should be used responsibly. When people start throwing them around for very specific personal triggers that don't influence 99,99% of people watching they become the butt of jokes and ridicule, as you've seen already by +Orion.
