✨ About me: ✨
Hi, I’m Zoe! (Pronounced like Zoey) I’m a 26 year old from Montreal making videos about my REAL life. After quitting my management consulting "dream job", then being laid off from a startup job, I decided to take a chance and work for myself. I'm now mainly focused on RU-vid (my absolute passion) and side-hustle contracts in the copywriting and admin fields.
My videos centre around work, gentle productivity, mental health & personal wellness, with a touch of fashion, tech, and whatever else I'm living. My goal is to be open & honest ALWAYS and for my channel to be a fun, inspiring place where we can set goals and live our best lives together. I would love for you to subscribe 💝

Yes! 100% agree on the credit card points. I use credit cards for perks (I have an Amex and I love the access it gives me for concert tickets) but I do not use them to earn points per se. I feel like I spend so much more when I do my spending on credit as well. Something about the psychology makes it so much easier to spend on credit than debit

Love what you said about points! I still use my credit card so I make sure to switch or upgrade when there are good deals, like x amount of free points etc., so that it actually feels worth it. But if I look at my points growth, the BULK comes from the promo and the rest is going up so slowly lol

Congratulations on all of your success this month ❤️!!! And also yes to paying yourself first! I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed and discouraged when it comes to finances. I’m grateful for my job but it’s one of those things where you overcome a giant hurdle and then see a street full of more hurdles . Mainly just trying to figure out ways to increase my income and also be better about not beating myself up as I learn along the way

Great video. I use my new card that I just got to pay for my utilities that I don't pay cash, but online. I get a bit of cash back from the card, and as soon as that payment I just made is posted, I pay the balance. I don't use the card to get points... I use the card for bills that I would have to pay regardless, and that way I can build up my credit score and get a little money back. I don't have to pay any interest because I do not carry any balance, and I do not buy anything with the card I cannot pay for that same day. I agree with you about taking all of the money out. Tt would not work for me, either. I am not trying to go to the bank more than twice a month (when I get paid) I get paid, I calculate the money I need to leave in the bank for my utilities that I pay online, and I take out the rest for my cash wallet and for my sinking funds.
@ZoePritchard

I think you're right about the US credit card points- in the US it's almost more advantageous to utilize credit cards because the price of goods are increased anyway to account for credit card fees, so I might as well earn points with my credit card rather than use cash to pay for an already upcharged good
@KittyKat-vb1nd
@KittyKat-vb1nd Год назад
Not American but having lived there it's shocking how Americans live daily in debt. That is seen as irresponsible in most of Europe. She is correct they really buy into the points scam.
@pippy303
@pippy303 Год назад
@@KittyKat-vb1nd agreed - people learn real quick to be comfortable with debt here because debt is something that is almost impossible to avoid. Practically everyone has debt here and it's just a normal thing. Everything's so expensive

@ZoePritchard

WealthSimple will get you a better rate than your bank most likely (1% is the rate I get with them on a cash savings account), but I'm on the hunt for something higher :) I'll let everyone know in a video if I find something better!

@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard Год назад
i feel like my one month aheads are a kind of sinking fund! but other than that no… i keep wanting to start one for maggie but it overwhelms me tbh 😂
@violettefemme21
@violettefemme21 Год назад
@@ZoePritchard I see! I personally consider my "one month ahead" as part of my emergency fund (though I don't keep it in that account, and that is still fully funded at a target amount). I personally only have sinking funds for my car (car biannual car insurance/oil changes/repairs), travel and gifts (throughout the year and Christmas). I keep it all in one HYSA separate from my emergency fund (but track the amounts for the 3 separate categories). It's so helpful to be able to spend money on a gift for someone without worrying if it was in my budget that month and being prepared for the holidays before they happen!
@violettefemme21
@violettefemme21 Год назад
Oh! I also have a separate sinking fund for my house since I own a home. Or you might consider that a home emergency fund. That is in a separate HYSA from the other 3 categories.

Cash envelopes are risky. What if they are lost or stolen? If you have the discipline of not spending what you don’t have credit cards are great. I flew round trip to Mexico twice, Hawaii and Seattle from California with credit card miles in the last three years. That’s over $1500 of savings. And never missed a full payment ever.

I think that part of it is due to the increased costs that come with managing cash for a small business. It requires additional time and tracking and such compared to only accepting credit cards. Even when compared to credit card fees. It's definitely so interesting to see and I wouldn't be surprised if things continue to go that way unfortunately.
