When we budget and are good at budgeting, we tend to be more frugal. I'm proud of you, girl. You sound like someone who is into paying themselves first and living intentionally. Whatever you and JS spend on each other is y'all's business. You are both adorable. More Zoe and JS moments, please. 🙂

Personally I don’t think I would have went to the birthday meal. I think I would have asked if we could have done something to celebrate separately which would be less of a costly experience. But I know sometimes you just have to go for it and enjoy regardless of money ❤❤

I love these budget check ins! ❤ Personally, I love your vlogs at the end of the video like you did in October.😊 Typically, I am biased and say "budget only" for the video because I'm an accountant and obsessed with everything personal finance. However, I feel like the vlogs has us as your audience build a closer connection with you. As a viewer, I think that's important as you continue to build your channel! I hope this helps!

Woke up and see your video! I just got the binder from the Line. It is so beautiful! I’ve been using it and loving it so much! I have anxiety every time I have to pay more on something I have no control over as well. So I understand what it is like. I’ve been paying wayyyy too much on myself this week because of the unexpected traveling. But yeah, thank you as always for being honest with your thoughts and spending on the video!

I lived in LA for 7 years in my 20s and went to Vegas almost every year during that time. Pro tip: don't stay on the strip next time. Everything is cheaper off the strip including alcohol, food, coffee, those pesky ATM fees, etc. You can find good deals at other hotels that are maybe a mile away. You can easily walk to the strip or take a quick Uber and still get to see everything and have the full experience :) So awesome that you still stayed under budget though - that's amazing!!

love all the budget videos and like following along on the spreadsheet and cash envelopes. how do you manage over spending when you're in the red? do you move money from one cash envelope to another or pull from a savings account?
@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard 7 месяцев назад
great question! sometimes i will move money over and sometimes just leave it. for example this month im red in gifts and i could cover it with groceries, but since i dont intend on buying anymore gifts this month i will leave it. If i were to buy more gifts, i might take from groceries (or a different envelope). Not the most clear answer, but i really just depends 🙈

this year all my friends and i turn 30... when i tell you the ABSURD expectations and parties that are being thrown... on top of everyone getting engaged and married. IDK how anyone expects us to shell out this kind of cash like this. As a non drinker+ mostly vegetarian, the meal splitting and set menu i finid so inconsiderate. I end up paying 100$ for a piece of boiled potato and a water.

I personally feel happy whenever I don’t use up all of my budget for travel though I’m allowed to use it all up since it’s a budget meant to be use on my travels. But I guess it’s just the frugal part in me who tend to get happy whenever I wasn’t able to use it all up because I get to transfer the remaining money to my EF or carry it over for my next travel.

It is wild to me as a European from the Mediterranean that you are « fine » paying X for jewellery, 55 dollars for a travel pillow, 30 or so dollars on a swimsuit because of failure to plan ahead, and absurd amounts for coffee but then cannot cope with spending a similar amount on a once in a lifetime moment in time with a close friend. Really highlights to me the issue with North American culture - happy to spend on unnecessary material things, begrudges spending on the true moments which actually make up a life. I’m not judging at all - firm believer in spending your money as you choose - I however just cannot get my head round the rationale and mindset. Meals together are everything to our culture, material goods are just so beyond secondary to me. Before people come for me - meals don’t need to be expensive but clearly that friend really wanted to do that for her birthday and, as a friend (who has the money to do so), I just honour that! For the people who say they don’t have the money - do you actually not have the money, or have chosen to spend that money elsewhere (eg nails, Starbucks) ? If so, understand that you’re prioritising that over time doing what your friend would like to do for their birthday. That’s okay, but just accept your choices.
@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard 7 месяцев назад
this is a very fair point! definitely is a difference in ways of looking at this. I was looking at the cost of the restaurant only for the meal, and not for the experience as a whole when I was annoyed about it.
@Cat8395
@Cat8395 7 месяцев назад
@@ZoePritchard i agree it can be easy to get focused on the numbers, especially if they are sizeable and we’re trying to think of all our goals at the same time! 😊 I do think I find it a little easier as it’s what I’m happy to spend my money on (as material or aesthetic-related things bring me hardly any joy). I’d take a dinner with my partner at a restaurant we’ve been wanting to try, over getting my nails done any day. We’ve all got our vices though - mine are of the four-legged equine variety (and what great money pits they are 😂).

I find it so funny that you have a Hard time paying for expensive food at a restaurant. Literally I am the complete opposite I would pay for food no problem at all but other things make me anxious like for example paying for a concert. To me it is Just not worth it 😊I figure is all about personalities.

I so don't agree on the friend's birthday party situation. I'm an older women so it gives me a lot more experience in situations like this. Your friend, as much as you love her, is childish and inconsiderate. What was she thinking when she invited her friends. God help you if she gets married and asks you to be in the wedding party (if she is not married at this time). Can you imagine what your cost would be. The younger generation, yes, I said "younger generation" - so cliche - needs to think more like you in saving for your long-term goals while treating yourself well at the same time. Sorry to blow off the steam, but your friend annoyed me.😤
