We're just a few weeks from the NHL Draft, and for Montreal Canadiens fans there seem to be endless possibilities for the Habs. However, it's unclear which choice they're going to make, so Scott has devised the foolproof idea of a tier list.

As always, Canadiens fans are investing themselves too deeply into one particular prospect. It's inevitable that you'll be disappointed when the team goes in another direction. While I'm sure they have favourites, I doubt Habs' brass even know who they'll pick. I'll say this: fans who think the team won't draft a defenceman are deluding themselves.

Cayden Lindstrom is a prototypical Duck. He is a center who will either be in Anaheim or Columbus. The Hab's should invest in Senneke.

I would be really surprised if Waddell let Demidov get past 4. He drafted Russsians high in Atlanta (Kovalchuk) and Carolina (Svech). Also seems like Iginla is rising. Verbeek probably loves him as a player. Lindstrom might fall in our lap.

I understand the interest in Sennecke. Cole Eisenman is a goal per game guy, so of course there's interest, BUT I don't see how either one gets ahead of Berkley Catton!?! Catton is almost a G/game PLUS he had 62 assists! Eisenman had 9... 9 Catton is 5'11 @ 175lbs, and while he is no Adonis like specimen he's a heck of a well rounded offensive hockey player. He makes everyone around him better by presenting the option to shoot or pass. Eiserman does not. He's going to shoot 100% of the time. He's a great goal scorer, no doubt when I watch him play, he's a floating opportunist. Catton on the other hand is making it happen. Also Cartons zone entries... Ridiculously good at something we desperately need. I hope Habs brass are playing coy with this guy and grab him. Preferably, by moving up with their 26th pick. Imagine coming out of this draft with one of Demidov, Lindstrom, or Iginla, and then grabbing 116 point Berkley Catton! Now that's a draft that moves the needle on this rebuild. I'm also okay with taking a D at best player available. If they need to acquire a forward talent, then the team selling will not likely want another forward. Case in point - Mitch Marner and the Laughs.

If Silayev is available , screw drafting a forward , you can’t pass on the next Zdeno Chara . Trade reinbacher or Guhle but I think Silayev has a great chance of going 2nd overall . Cayden Lindstrom’s back is worst than Andre the giant , it’s obvious , look at him skate We need goal scorer and none of them are better than cole Eiserman , 9 goals in 7 game at the world junior and shattered goal scoring records in the US

Now that you mention it, it is possible that no D go top 4. With so many good ones, you might be able to wait until 10-15 and still get someone like Buium or Parekh. This draft feels like it’s wide open starting with the second pick.

I do believe Montreal will make the right choice at 5th this year eventhough I wanted them to pick Michkov or Leonard last year... Indeed they have seen all these prospects play all year so they must have a pretty good idea which one they should pick !!!
