Welcome aboard...happy for Slovakia and psyched to have Juraj's size and power offensive game on our team; 2 elements that have been sorely lacking for a long while.
Best moment for me was when KK scored that winning goal agens Montreal and he silent the hole building, Montreal fans got what they deserved hahahah!!!
Time will tell, however heading into the draft Wright came across to me as a less than humble, self-entitled, self-proclaimed #1 in an 'off' year. Back that up with his being pissed at being selected 4rth ( chip on my shoulders - his words ). Very impressed with Juraj Slafkovsky's press conference. Humility, poise, intelligence, gracious. Doesn't present that the world revolves around him. Perhaps this is what the first three teams picking in the draft saw .. character .. the basis for a future star.
Yea Wright reminded me of the cancer pacioretty. I remember back in 2008, when Pacioretty was sent back down, it was said he threw big fits. He was a horrible captain and is the reason Subban is gone. If you remember the individualistic play Canceretty let the guy go and he scored.
I have been thinking about the whole chain of events when it unfolded exactly like what happened in the movie "Draft Day" when Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner) drafted Vontae Mack instead of the expected number 1 - Bo Callahan. It may be a strange coincidence, but Hughes must have seen something from that final talk with Slafkovsky to tip the scale. Also Wright's reaction as New Jersey and Arizona picked other players reminded me of that Bo Callahan character. If people saw such traits from the interviews with him, that's not good. Reality is stranger than fiction at times. Time will tell as to who got the better pick. I must have switched opinions about 3 times at least since talks of the projected number 1 pick were on, but I had my first concerns about Wright when he was subpar at the World Juniors despite facing "easier" opponents in the only 2 games that were played before the tournament was cancelled.
And don't forget the first guy in the Romanov jacket. At least he seemed happy about the pick. Can you imagine if someone was both a Wright and Romanov fan? Bad night for them lol
@@nada55666 Also there is an interesting moment if you watched Steve Dangles and Colby Armstrongs livestream of the draft on youtube, where before the 4th draft pick trade was announced (Bettman said it incluedes Montreal )and Steve froze in shock and said: "Wait are they gonna get Wright as well?" And I agreed that that would hVe been huge!
First a was in shock when they took Slavkosky because like many other I was really expected Shane Wright to be the first pick overall, but when they did the trade Romanov vs Dach a few minutes later I said to myself "ok! ok! this new team really knows what they are doing!"
Besides and size and strength and the fact Tht he can jump in right away, the fact Tht he was humble not overly cocky and you sense a kind of swag to him, main reason why he was drafted.
@@tiffanyhammack9675 I'm a Habs fan but you need to accept reality, the Dach trade is stupid. And you can't call Wright a bust when he fell to 4th overall and didn't even play a single NHL game yet. Dach in his best season has less points than Kotkaniemi in his first season while playing on a team with Kane and Debrincat, Dach is highly disappointing and unnecessary for Montreal.
I don't understand the disgusted faces. The best choice Montreal could have made. Slafkovský is a much more complex player than Wright. Wright only plays with juniors and has no experience with senior hockey, nor is his body built for the NHL yet. Slafkovský is the exact opposite. You'll see Slafkovski become a bigger star than Wright in the future. But I understand that nationality may have played a role. After all, Montreal is a heavily Canadian city that loves hockey and Wright is Canadian. For you, Slafkovský is just some Eastern European who cannot be better than a Canadian or American player. Some Montreal fans don't deserve a great player like Slafkovsky to be in Montreal...
He said in interviews that he tried to learn Finnish while playing in Finland, so I don’t see why he wouldn’t also try to learn French in Montreal, it’s a valid question
@@simplyskrypt3914 You could've gotten a power forward later in the draft, that has more production than Slaf. Owen Beck will be the best pick of your draft.
From what i have seen him play the entire year after he develops properly he might even do a 50 goal season, he has atm limitless potential,, the rest depends on the Habs coaching staff.
I kinda like the Juraj Slafkovsky pick but trading Romanov was a MAJOR MISTAKE by Hughes! I don't care how good Dach is or isn't, it wasn't worth losing Alex Romanov! 228 hits and 141 blocked shots and Hughes trades him and gets a player who has scored 19 goals in 152 games and is a -22! Quite frankly I am totally disgusted and pissed off at Hughes for trading Romanov who was developing into the next Shea Weber!👎👎😠😠 It is possible for the Canadiens to TRADE Hughes? mea sententia sine firmis 🦂🦂
Guys, say whatever you want but nobody in that building was as happy as Nick Suzuki when he saw that giant Slafkovsky walk up to the stage as number 1 knowing thats his future line mate on the left wing.
Oh my... So much wrong with this comment where do I begin? 1) what does that moment have to do with fans reacting to this year's draft? 2) learn how to spell 3) that moment was from you? So did you assist on his goal? 4) actually the fans got the last laugh because KK is garbage. So the habs lost him for a first round pick and received better c from Arizona. Which we could keep or package for another upgrade. Good try though
@@bradward2969 When Montreal drafted KK they got there first and only superstar to the team, thanks to Kotkaniemi Montreal got to the playoffs finals. Short after KK left the team Montreal struggled and they did only have overrated players left like Suzuki and Coufield. The fans got what they deserved after they booed KK and that offer sheet was a big win for Carolina. You only hate KK because he is not a Canadian like you and you should be shamed of yourself. Montreal will never get to the playoffs agen and that is your fault!
hope he dont sluffoffsky and hughes people made the wright choice lol because right looked pretty pissed staring at the habs table hope they got the wright man because right could come back and bite them wright where it hurts ??????????????????????///
the Slovaks have never won anything, so Montreal drafts two. Worst first round pick decision in history, so Montreal style. Canadian players win the Cup.
Wow, what a great pick, 5 goals and 5 assists in 31 games is much better than 94 points in 82 games. Always pick a winger ahead of a centre. I can find you 30 wingers in the 6th and 7th round that score more than 10 points in 31 games lol. If you can't score in a league where Kotkaniemi has more points than Slaf (points per game average), my question is how many points will he score in an NHL season??? Amazing that we support this FO, lmao. Same type of choice (pick) that the Jacksonville Jaguars select in the NFL, they are the worst team for a reason lol.
@@jurajnovotny4725 men not good enough for the NHL in the Liga. You think we got a 100 point per year player? Get real, Josh Anderson is a big, fast, tough guy who gets 30-50 points was drafted in the 4th round. Slafkovski may never reach that level. He may be a good skater but in tight spaces (like NHL ice surfaces), I don't see a 30 point/year scorer having the quickness and hand release that is needed to score goals in the NHL. Look at his film and make your own mind. I call em as I see em and who cares? I'm not the brain behind the picks lol. Usually guys that don't score with men that are not good enough for the NHL will never become great scorers, you cannot teach that.
@@yvonloiseau52 In U20 SM-sarja he had 6 goals and 12 assists in 11 games. OG in Peking 2022 7 goals, MVP of the tournament as a 17 years old. This is not enough for you?
@@claude9560 he has none. He's a no life anti-white racist loser that melts anytime he sees a white person and loves to see us suffer. There's plenty of them nowadays. Bet he identifies himself as an anti-racist lol
