Hi, i'm from Portugal; in 1998 i went to l'Ariège with the sole focus on visiting the Montségur Castle, with my 2yr-old firstborn over my shoulders, and we've climbed the Pog onto the inner courtyard of the ruins. He just loved the adventure, and though he couldn't yet speak properly, he made friends with an elderly lady up there, who was using crutches - i just didn't have the nerve to ask her how she'd managed to get to the Pog's top. Anyway, as we went around the castle, after the legendary (or not) spot from where some of the Cathars may have escaped from, my son picked a little stone from one of the stonewalls and kept it in the pocket. As we returned to the hostel in Lavenet, i could see the stone's shape curiously resembled the castle's own geometric configuration! We still have that stone, a very curious accidental souvenir.

I am now very critical when it comes to all the Cathar glorifications, because there are a lot of hypocrites around who seriously claim that they know how to tell the true story of the 'good people'. Forgive me that this was also my first impression of your documentation. But you taught me better. Your story, despite its brevity, is very detailed and precise and all the really known facts have been mentioned by you and put into the correct context. And you also managed to include some very important, but often concealed or unknown facts... that made me personally very happy. Overall, I really liked your informative video, you told your very own, individual story of the Cathars! Thank you for that! You made a great video!

In the legend of the Holly Grail it was supposed to be in Montsalvache a castle who's lord was Ramon Perrilla

Fascinating place for sure. I've just heard the old ruin is haunted by those who were burned alive centuries ago. They say their screams echo off the stone walls when no one's around. About that treasure legend, if the Cup of Christ was one of the treasures hidden away and supposedly taken to Italy by those noblemen then I think we may have discovered the first clue to the Holy Grail's true location!! If all of this is true then I can understand why the Cathars would die trying to protect their culture and treasure!

The Cathar s definitely have the grail many made it to England around 1147 and after their is historical records. Could the Grail still be in France or elsewhere in Europe ? or could it be in England its actually depicted on the Cathar wall paintings at the Piccotts end old cottage museum near Hemel hempstead England their is also a knights Templer cave near by at Royton I say the Grail is In England for safe keeping after it left Monsignor.

Very interesting details about the history fortress and surrounding village/buildings including the final siege - thank you. I visited Montségur many years ago and climbed up to the top. It has a very powerful atmosphere. For me the real treasure of the Cathars lay in the spiritual light that shone through the best among them. Paulo Coelho's saying that "The world is changed by your example, not your opinion" was exemplified by the Cathars. Though the Church characteristically obsessed about their beliefs and denounced them as "heretical", it was the Cathar way of life, not their doctrine that attracted people: living examples of people who sought to sincerely follow the teachings of Jesus. The second striking feature was that way that women, whose spirit was so stifled by the Church, were given their spiritual voice in the Cathar priesthood.
