My legendary friends always play this on my headphones if I ever get angry (happens a lot and my anger issues mean that I can't speak or move properly because of it and then automatically lash out after a while ) or anxious (also happens a lot) and it literally makes me snap out of it instantly. None of them know what it's from but they still do it because they know it helps. Legends.
For 25 years, I've played this to my year 7 students and had them learn the lyrics and then sing them in class. They love it - and are, of course, learning some interesting science facts along the way. Which holds them in good stead when dealing with the decided lack of intelligence on social media!

I finally get why he appears from the fridge. Apparently because their entire life is happening around and out of fridge. If this makes sense then the song is somewhat losing its atheistic anthem appeal and indeed it's in fact a parody of it
I suppose the correct answer is both really. It is a scene from one of Monty Pythons film's called The Meaning of Life, but unlike Life of Brian and The Holy Grail, which both have a main/singular story, this is really a series of sketches all situated around Life hence the title.
