The album Days of Future healed my tormented soul in the seventies. Every song on that album has an emotional charge, even after 55 years. Sheer genius band.
So true. Spot on. Tuesday Afternoon : im just beginning to see, now im on my way Understanding that worry (stress) is our biggest enemy & to let it go. No matter what
Just in case there is anyone out there who has not enjoyed this band, I wish I was you. Then I could start all over again. One of life's better journey's.
Watching these old videos recently has led me to the same place. The pure joy of learning their body of work was fantastically fun. Each album in the Core 7 was indeed a step in the journey.
The Moody Blues are the most perfect band on the face of this earth!!!!! They are such a pleasure to listen to, Justin is so darn cute!!!!! Here in 2023, still listening to them, they never get old!!!! 💙💙💙💙........ 😌😌😌😌.....
This is from the Isle of Wight festival 1970 at Afton farm. To this day I still drive past the field and look at the place and can't believe how such a historic gig took place. Unreal.
Their music was very healing to me in 1970 when I came back from a year as an infantryman in 'Nam. I was that "Melancholy Man" at that time trying to fit back in to 'the World' as we used to say..I looked like every other college student on campus but inside was 'not the same.' Thank God for this group and their music and poetry...they were indeed at the right time and the right place for me and others.
All the people that love this song should listen to the whole album "Days Of Future Passed", is equally emotional and beautiful. Is one of the greatest albums ever made You have my word :) Enjoy!
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BAND AS GOOD AS THE MOODIES. THERE MUSIC IS TIMELESS. I GREW UP WITH THE MOODIES AND I WILL DIE WITH THE MOODIES TANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES. OVER THE YEARS KEEP THE FAITH AND KEEP ON SINGING.
How I missed the Moodies thru the years is beyond me. I loved them in the 60’s & then they seemed to go from the radio. I’m enjoying them now & I’m catching up👍👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Looking at Justin's eyes in this video just tells you why he is one of the all time best songwriters that ever come along! To watch & hear the passion & serenity the Moody Blues songs sound is sensationally beatiful! They will always be a part of my life!
i've loved justin since I was 12 and this is my favorite of all songs...he truly is a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician...no wonder the band plays on....
Love to watch these guys perform this so many years ago, Who cares if it isn't "perfect"??? Why does it need to be? Do you think the Beatles never missed a note, 'forgot' or switched up the lyrics? So happy someone thought to record this for us to enjoy 41 years later. I will be thinking of how they sounded then in '70 when I see them this August. I KNOW they will sound as good! Justin has an unforgettable voice
Oh my god, America freaking loved the Moodies. Their concert at Red Rock - epic! My favorite band ever (overall). I was a hippie back in the day and their music about summed it up for me. All my friends played their music to their children at night. I have all of their albums. In Search of the Lost Chord and Childrens Childrens Children are my favs.
What a superb performance. Cool to see how Justin and John used their guitars to fill in for the string section heard on the original studio recording. This version is also played at a bit faster tempo than the original and that only makes the video even more interesting.
@Tuy19299, When I visited the R&R Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 2001 they had a display on the MBs. The caption said they "overcame criticisms that they were bombastic and pretentious..." to enjoy great success. I grew up in the '60's & experienced the Moody Blues success as it was happening. I never heard anyone call them bombastic and pretentious. I have musician friends who have told me told me the more they listened to the Moody Blues the more impressed they were.
This is the song that hooked me. After hearing it a few times over the speaker at work in the early 90s. I bought their greatest hits. Then I had to hear everything they ever did. I bought every album but the classic 7 (1967-72) I'll never get tired of. I saw them live 2010 in the seventh row. I love this band.
This is the best music ever. Love the Moody Blues. Tuesday Afternoon is my favorite song of all time. The flute player has the heart and soul of a songbird.
I saw these guys back in 1994 as a result of getting free tickets to a show. I thought it was cool to see a show for free, had heard of "Knights in White Satin," and thought that it was a great song. Knew very few other songs from them. Anybody that really appreciates great music, great sound, and real musical talent would have loved hearing the MOODY BLUES as much as I did that night in Columbia, MD! I had always loved "Tuesday Afternoon" and had never realized it was them!
Preciosa voz la de Justin, de inmediato reconocible... y sus acordes y letras siempre profundas. Guapísimo además ( aún hoy a sus 70 años! ) Gran grupo los Moody
The Moody Blues not in the R&R hall of fame. They better get there music out and listen to it again. It's simply some of the greatest music ever written. Do I have to remind them how many hits they had on the radio. People grew up listening to Nights In White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, Melancholy Man, Ride My See Saw... And these days the hits just keep coming... The Other side Of Life, Etc. Let';s get it together and let them know they are one of the greatest bands ever. "Retro Ron" on you tube
I am seeing them Salem VA tonight, this will be my 13th or 14th time seeing them in concert, first time since 1994...I am so excited ! Thanks to my old friend Jay for turning me onto them so many years ago.
Justin's been doing it for more than 40 years and sounds as good as ever. I really wish I'd seen them before Mike and Ray left the band though. Oh for a time machine.
How the hell did this song get any thumbs down? This band should defintely be in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. If they can induct a Miles Davis(who I never saw as a rock musician) then they should be able to induct this band!
@@CA-rl1hg I do agree, and David Cassidy was an angel too...but my favourite one is John Lees from Barclay James Harvest, so talented and charming like a celtic prince
I have heard this song a thousand times, but this is by far the best version, and I never heard it before. Such a strong clear sound from each instrument! The drums are Killer!
Classic Moody Blues footage is pretty rare, and this is just wonderful. And although I love them all, the other guys should always realize that they live in mansions mainly because of Justin.
Love Hayward with the Gibson. It was tailor made for this tune that he wrote. The lyrics were also great. And the band was so tight on this. He did forget one line early on, he forget the words "the trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why." But he quickly regrouped and never looked back.
Always wondered what this song sounded like without the full orchestra. And now I know. Thanks for posting, as even The Moodys couldn't cover ALL the bases. Still sounds pretty good for a live version, though.
Hi Thanks for the comment. The song is indeed from the album you say, but the DVD that this live performance is taken from is as labelled. Thanks James
Wow, wow, wow. All I can say is WOW and thank you. What a song, what a performance. Wish I could have been there. Thanks for making this available. ♥BoopGirls
