This is a smart framing--seemingly the perfect approach for what the instrument is and, as such, I learned a lot more than I did from the flood of videos back at launch. I guess it's helpful to have the perspective of 2026.
Same. (not ordered yet). If this had been available 4 years ago I would not have spent about 20 K on eurorack to achieve basically what Labyrinth does.
Same here. I think I could stay away from that order button for about two days while patching the same functionality. But I ended up with 120 HP and a lot of spaghetti.
@@CinematicLaboratory Which maybe would give me more fun of creating it. Of course (Mini) Moog is all about "forget the spaghetti, I have created what you need in a box", I'm still not convinced. This looks like a very nice machine and I have been a click away of getting a second hand Matriarch, but I still didn't get a Moog. Now it's not an American owned company anymore, is it going to be like 'cheap' Behringer? The small pot meters make me go 'mêh'. No ladder filter... Ok, it's about making it complex (additive) instead of subtractive, but still, it would have been nice to filter the complex created sound with the signature filter.
My guess is that if you spend a lot of money on a modular or semi, you don't want it to sound like the VST on your Mac or your classic Model D. I've spent many many days behind the PC creating songs and tracks and I really enjoyed it, but it never felt like I was doing it. I make a lot of noise on the modular, but I am sure it's my noise :).
Unbelievable video! and Moog hit the gold spot here. I missed the first batch, its sold out. Im going for the next batch....damn...i' love this thing and adding the low pass gate is pure magic. And also a Moog Filter..... its everything comming together🚀✨️
@@CinematicLaboratory Many demoed it like it was a DFAM. Just watched again. 16:20 If this had been available four years ago it would have saved me 20 K in Eurorack Modules - what you are doing here is what i wanted to do.
Those sounds starting at 9:44 sound like they could might as well be adapted to modern rhythm game tunes, in lieu of the usual supersaw and neuro-noise stuff. But still, this Labyrinth does sure know how to deliver both nags and punches in its own way, similar to that of Cre8audio and PGH's own West Pest (although a side-by-side hardcore/speedcore jam would also be far more interesting).
I want this thing sooo much. And, yes, it would pair beautifully with my DFAM. And a Maths... maybe I need to get them both... *sigh* Where does my money go? ;)
I had it written off. Give it a miss i said...I've enough Moog synths to play with; The DFAM, Sirin and Subharmonicon. That's enough i thought. I've watched video after video on the Labyrinth and still felt underwhelmed..then you turn up and opened the bloody floodgates!
Do you think the Labyrinth is a good synth to add to the Mother-32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon? I've messed with it a little bit, but I was totally lost like never before. Do you think those four synths together, plus my Eurorack utilities case is a good way to go? Thank you in advance for any info/thoughts you can provide!
Please note this is my personal opinion. Labyrinth is the best of the batch but it's unlike any Moog except DFAM which is also 'dual complex'. Together they can do wonders. I made a video with all four and a bit of external help, and it was an amazing experience. Labyrinth gllues everything together. Here's the Moog Studio 4 tour: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p6Zf12PhGlw.htmlsi=j4jro6A9MxsWQLAd
@@CinematicLaboratory Thanks again, I watched it and the Labyrinth two years from now videos! I'm so sorry about your mom, what a bittersweet memory. It gave me goosebumps. Am I correct in thinking that your belief is that all four (Mother-32, DFAM, SubH, and Labyrinth) are not great solo, but together they create a beautiful synth? Especially when combined with utility modules, such as Maths, Pam's Pro, EGs, Mixers, LPGS, etc. Did I understand correctly?
@@alexandermontagnet3361 As a rule of thumb, all eurorack modules aren't 'great' on their own, the power is in the combinations. The Moogs are full voices so they can already do a lot on their own. The M32 offers tons of utilities you otherwise had to accomodate and it becomes brilliant with a looper and reverb. As I showed in the video, with all four Moogs, you'd have a 'band'. I'd say you should add a mixer and FX, and that's enough to keep you busy for a long time.
@@CinematicLaboratory Thank you! I've added a few extra EG's, Ochd, FX, Maths, Pam's Pro, VCAs, mults, two more filters, etc. Would love to add Arbhar for the polyphony.
Watched *some* of the videos. Read the manual. Tried to like it as a "generative DFAM". But... Nope. I would take a Marbles clone & clock divider, plus a Buchla inspired synth voice; instead of the Labyrinth.
I'd say Maths and the DXG stereo LPG.Not sure if you really 'need' those immediately but it will seriously extend your palette. Maths could add two more 'VCO's' or complex movement, which is going to be really cool. If you use a 104 HP powered case you could add Maths, DXG, X-OH (output) and FX-AID XL. Good luck!
