It's somewhat disturbing that in this universe, both moomins and hippoes are sentient beings that can talk, but only one of them has basic human rights.
@@XDLugia I mean in the end, they had to get some sort of a certificate from the head of the academy that proved that they were moomins and thus illigal to keep in captivity against their will. But keeping more or less as intelligent hippoes (or tigers, snakes or rhinoes, if I remember correctly, only the monkies were unable to talk ) in the zoo would have been okay.
I've been going through these and loving it so far. I think the only time I've heard Moominmama be not chill is when she found Moomin had left the house while he had a bad fever. And Moominpappa gets very offended at being called a hippo.
"You can't get away, Stinky." just KILLS ME every single time. It's not just the line itself and the hilarious delivery, but it's that paired with the image of Snufkin just STANDING THERE, blank stair ahead right at him. Bro looks like he's about to go John Wick on poor Stinky.
*The scenes in themselves are very comedic, but its the lines out of context, paired with the nonchalant voice acting that simply make it into comedy gold*

Maybe it’s the thin layer of static in the clip, that’s present in the vast majority of analog horrors. Small things like that can make something creepy.

oh i'm so happy i got to watch this series in my native finnish language when i was a kid. no other language version i've heard of comes even close to the uniquity and actorship with the characters than the original finnish dub did.
The sound effects are the same in every language. I went to RU-vid some time ago to check if this episode is available in full English. There it was without any errors.
This is delightful. It's very odd to watch in the English dub, though, as someone who grew up with the Swedish 😅It's hard to describe but part of the charm of the Moomins was the particularly pleasant Finnish-Swedish accent they have. It's extraordinarily cute.
I love Little My so, so much she reminds me of my older sister (who funnily enough is shorter than me) there are just these ballsy things she does just because she wants to and that is admirable to me. It just cracks me up the harmless but maybe annoying ways she has her way with her environment and the people around her- 0:38 just makes me wheeze, something about that situation feels familiar hahaha does anyone know what episode that is?
If we talk about what each Moomins character is like, apart from the fact that the Moomins and Snorks look like hippos, Sniff looks like a kangaroo, Little looks like a doll to me, Snufking with his way of dressing looks like a scarecrow runaway from the fields, hemulen looks like a donkey without ears, and so we could talk about other characters and what each one looks like🤔😅.
Haha, these are exactly kind of scenes that when you watch them, you could burst the water or milk out... In addition, I have found many of these fun while watching the Moomins, and I'm laughing at them now.
Okay, I feel like I'm a little bit of on the outside here, but I love how corny this English dub is. There -are- parts in this series' dub where the VAs are actually giving a fuck, like during the 'king of California' bit early on, but this is not it. The actors are clearly having fun, and I appreciate that so much, especially given the era that this dub was made.
If Moomin was found gruesomely murdered in a ditch and you had to break the terrible news to Moominpapa and Moominmama, I swear to god their reaction would be nothing more intense than an “oh my!”
"I wonder if centipedes come from outer space?" "-but this is the Earth dear". I remember this part back in the day in my country's version and it made absolutely no sense.
Im 🇸🇪 and i think in the original swedish/finish dubs gets more grounded and fits the visuals more. But the english language combined with the finish/swedish artstyle and storytelling really does feel random and almost cursed at times and thats funny
Don't agree, the voices for the swedish/finish one don't fit at all. The japanese version does a better job I think and the english version has similar sounding voices to the japanese version for the most part.
