Glad y'all are finding this helpful! Here are some follow ups and updates I've found since uploading this: 1. I made a timing helper tool! For the swiping method, one improvement I've learned (hat tip to Kedican) is to only hit Circle on the 3rd swipe. Then you don't need to do the follow up Circle hit to cancel the kick! I show this in the timing video linked above. 3. Honestly im only learning these cancels now that ive done everything else. Basically the last thing i have left is to do a perfect custom plat run for the hidden heart sword. I want it so bad. Your explanation is pretty good, picked up on it pretty quick with your video 👍
It's surprisingly tricky.. also using that door to check you're not cancelling too soon was really helpful. I'm going to have to check but I'm pretty sure you've *won the internet for today* Nov 7th 2021.
This is sooooo much easier now that I learned that you can NOT move your character while doing this like you would when you do a regular Moon Master v.s. Moon Master Cancel. I'm kinda new so took me some time to realize that.
I've been trying to learn the MMC for months now. I thought I was missing something; turns out I didn't have the moon master perk 😑 Thank you very much sdk for this video!
Great tutorial my friend! I've noticed when I equip a sword VFX it helped me find the Sweet Spot of when to initiate first swing cancel to begin MMC. Hopefully it might help others but definitely helped me.
If someone wants to learn it 1:20 + Do Not move left Joystick while peforming the cancel + When peforming the cancel, rly rly rly short Tap the Buttons. The longer the Press the worser the Chance. Try focusing on rly short Press. This was the missing knowledge, now i can perform it If bevor you pressed the Button normally and the time is Press X x x Then or should now be Press X. Try to Focus on moon canceling Just the first Attack. The Timing is actually good explained in the other Tutorials
When I press triangle and circle in rapid succession in either order it consistently does a heavenly strike. Sometimes it even happens when I'm just trying to dodge
Another way to do it, put your thumb on circle and triangle, and do a worm or wave motion. I press circle with the bone and triangle with my tip. It’s similar to the slide.
Ok WTF? I have been tryin to learn this Moon cancel forever and I never ever got close to ever landing any of it. I watched your tutorial and still couldn't do it UNTIL you showed the SLIDING OF THE BUTTONS. The moment I did that with a half a second pause between each Slide I got it. Then I tried it on enemies and I was doing it. My man you truly helped me with that tip.
@@sdkverse I actually managed to time it well 🙂 This was really helpful! I also use the staggering an enemy has a chance to "something something" legendary katana! Sorry, forgot its name but you guys probably know which one I'm talking about. 😀 Put the poison blade perk on it, and the katana becomes so much fun!

When MMC first became a thing the first two ways didn’t really work for me ended up doing the last way but I don’t swipe away I just press triangle and circle after holding triangle and have the kick at the end. Reminds me of Street Fighter 4’s FADC

Normally, your fingers press these buttons with "normal" strength and duration, as they have pressed a button countless times. This standard press, however, won't trigger the Moon Master cancel. To perform the Moon Master cancel, you must retrain your fingers. Here’s how: Swipe Across Buttons: Use two quick swipes across the triangle and circle buttons. Edge Starting Point: Start your swipe at the edge of both buttons. This technique helps achieve a shorter press duration. Avoid the Center: Pressing in the middle of the buttons tends to result in a longer press. Starting at the edge and swiping across minimizes the input duration. This was made assuming you're on a Playstation, but it will work for PC and other controllers, just swap "Circle" for whatever your dodge button is and "Triangle" for your strong attack
Good question, should be the same just need to use swap the button inputs. When the video says triangle, use whatever button you have mapped to strong attack. When it says circle, use your dodge button. The rhythm and options should still work the same
Thanks for this... I've tried and given up so many times trying to do this and I kept kicking :( Trying the swipe method I realised that the act of a normal button press it too slow to trigger the next attack. I can now at least trigger the cancel without kicking. Gives me somewhere to start and now I can focus on the timing :D ...RIP my right thumb.
I remember at first my thumb also hurt 😄 but just remember you don't need to hit the buttons hard to trigger them. Just relax your hand. it shouldn't hurt your thumb 😄
It seems to just be a quirk of some of the methods for doing it, it just kind of happens unless you cancel the kick as well. Though, I will say sometimes it doesn't happen when fighting or doing a killing blow.
I can’t get it to do damage and enemies just tuck my day lol 😂 how long Do I hold before doing the combo? Or starting to cancel even just the first swing?

Not comparable. I use dash to finish off some enemies quickly (eg. disciples of iyo after a critical strike, before they do the aoe attack). MMC is used to take on heavier enemies like oni with a lot of health, and drain it quickly. If the enemy is nearly dead, I see no point in wasting energy in doing the MMC.

All legendaries are automatically granted master perks for all stances. So if you have a legendary moon katana, or another legendary katana with moon stance, it is automatically mastered for you. (This came in an update after this video was made) Tldr your demon cutter will work for this
You can do it on either ps, offline, online, bad connection doesn't matter. Make sure you have moon master perk on your katana (or a legendary katana that has moon stance in some way) if it's the timing that's hard, I have another video on my channel to help with the timing
It uses the same buttons, so Moon Master Cancel won't work if you have heavenly strike on your build and have enough resolve to trigger it. You'll need to drain your resolve or (on legends) don't use items that give you heavenly strike
