Thanks Mike. I don’t work for Sinister Fish anymore but getting the seal of excellence on the game I worked development on and from the Dice towers premier reviewer means the world!
We have similar opinions of the trilogy. I've only gotten in a single solo game of Moon but I feel like my preference will become Moon, Villagers, then Streets. I have a lot of nostalgia for Villagers so it might take a few more plays to officially shake out. I think my one complaint is the font size on the cards. It is difficult to see from across the table if you are trying to make choices that affect other players. Of course, I have only played solo so far so I am not sure how much that will really affect gameplay. Thanks for another great review!
This has been such a delightful game to play since it arrived! But I also 100% agree about the double sided tokens, I'm not a fan of that at all, especially on the scoring hearts. It weirdly makes such nice components feel cheap to me, as I'm constantly having to be mindful that they're fiddly in that way.
Hey Mike, glad you enjoyed the game as much as I did. I was curious if you tried out the Valkyrie expansion, as you said you were hoping for some more cards, I believe it does add quite a few to the game. Have a great day!
I wanted to like this game but I find it so slow at higher player counts. Your turns in this game are not simultaneous, which is fine, a lot of board games you take your turn and then someone else goes etc, but because its a card based drafting game, the slow paced nature really stands out sorely to me compared to something like 7 wonders. That's not necessarily a bad thing for some people/groups, not as noticable at solo/2/3, but at 4 or 5 id rather play any other drafting game.
Thanks, Mike! I agree wholeheartedly! I also backed this and have played it several times now with different groups of people, and everyone has really liked it! I think it's outstanding as well, and I'm hopeful given how they have produced a nice expansion to Villagers with extra cards that they will do the same for Moon. I'm all in on this one! Thanks!
@michaeldilisio557 fantastic! I backed their kickstarter and wanted to see what the red playmat looked like before deciding on colors. Assuming the table is still doing well for you.
Hey Mike, awesome review! Just a small feedback: I think you need to work a bit more with your microphone setup, it felt a bit like if you were talking over a walkie-talkie.
I suppose because that’s something that’s present in almost any drafting game. It usually has more to do with the players around the table than the design of the game.
@@michaeldilisio557 I guess.. Just read some reviews while considering it after your video, and as a player who doesn't have too much experience with drafting games - The potential of negative interaction made me concern. If that is a part (or potentially part) of the gameplay - I'm not sure that it shouldn't be mentioned, or be taken for granted... (At least for me,) - That's something to take into an account.
I found both the art and graphic design hideous. Also, the text and icons on the cards look extremely small and difficult to read, especially for the huge white empty space on most cards. Kills everything good about the game for me.
