Brett Morgen never wanted to make a "run-of-the-mill" documentary about David Bowie's life. Unlike a typical music documentary, Morgen’s latest film, Moonage Daydream, doesn’t lay out the artist’s biography or feature talking heads. Instead, it’s meant to be a cinematic experience, using never-before-seen concert footage, interviews Bowie gave to the press at different points in his career and videos of him working on his music. Morgen joined Tom Power to tell us more about the documentary and how he tapped into Bowie’s creative spirit after he had a heart attack while making the film.
