The Crimson long-name, you do know that the player who's been the longest in teh game can kick those people, right? It's fun, they never see it coming, so I can repair the moon base every time.
@@random3857 One time I got into a war where someone was kicking anyone who opposed them on a certain server. I waited for them to leave for a brief moment and then repaired the moonbase just in time, thus wresting BoingBoing from their control.
The fact this dude had the text to speech down to a science THIS well and planned every individual syllable like that is astounding. The patience required for that is way beyond what I could handle. It's been so long since this was recorded, I genuinely hope he or she is doing something big now.
1:56 Imagine if you were playing on a server in this game and literally everyone else in the server came over a hill marching towards you all singing this song in perfect sync
I love that the developers spent however much labor hours they spent into the tts features. I know that more than once they questioned if they should've, if it was just a waste of time... but they did it anyway and it was all worth it. edit: i was totally wrong, i just assumed they made the tts for the game cause i didn't know it from anywhere else, but it's an engine called dectalk or whatever made by digital equipment corporation way before i was even alive, still cool that they apply it tho
I just see a bunch of sad astronauts spending their final moments singing on the moon :c EDIT: I just want to go back 4 years ago when everything seemed alright, when I felt true bliss

The last clip in this video is honestly something that might happen if a moonbase were in the midst of catastrophic failure, and the crew were just singing shanties between comms to lighten the gravity of their situation as they worked individually against a screaming stopwatch, as a team, to prevent catastrophe
Sometimes when I go to sleep at night, I hear the angle of Moonbase Alpha's past whisper in my ear. With a voice so soft and tender, it tells me.... "JOHN MADDEN"
This is the type of thing I could listen to every day of my life and it would never get old. Is there a genre of music that features computer generated vocals like this? I know about vocaloids but I'm looking for something robotic-sounding. Similar to Daft Punk.
I was sent on a trip from songs that were out at the time this vid was released. I haven’t heard these songs on the radio in years, and honestly it’s better than 90% of the stuff on the radio now.
Features like these in games are the absolute best. I haven't played Moonbase in a while, but it does seem like the music feature is pretty undeveloped compared with Space Station 13. In SS13 you can copy/paste a text snippet that's basically an entire song, and you put that into your keyboard, and now you can play it while you're still working. There's a MIDI converter (that converts MIDI songs into SS13's text format), but there isn't full computer voice like Moonbase (so MA definitely has the edge there). But I get the sense that MA only lets you post a very small phrase of a song (or this vid would presumably be full-length songs), which doesn't flow nearly as well while you're trying to do your actual job. Also presumably it's on MA's open radio frequency, spamming everyone nonstop, which is not really workable in SS13 where it's a 25-80 person space station. So in SS13 you just hear the instruments which are near you (logical), and if you want someone to stop playing you either ask them or you shove them down and take their keyboard and throw it into space.
