The very first independent animation to win an Oscar, John and Faith Hubley's beautiful Moonbird (1959). This film's star has fallen in the last few decades, mostly because just about the only versions available are corroded, public domain prints. Moonbird is heavy on visuals and these low-quality versions TOTALLY fail to represent the Hubleys' vision. This remastered edition was released in 2014 on a bonus DVD inside The Believer magazine, and is the highest-quality version of the film I've come across yet. Enjoy Moonbird as it was meant to be seen!
