One note - if you use GameStream Launcher (works with Sunshine not just GameStream) with Playnite, you can run full 800p. It's a little bit of work to get setup but is well worth it. I did it originally when trying to use GameStream/Moonlight from an ultrawide monitor to a 16:9 TV and it was the only way to make it work by forcing the monitor to the appropriate resolution.
Some games when they detect thst I pressed mouse/keyboard inputs on steam deck (like using the cursor with the Steam button, etc) will default to mkb inputs and won't switch back to controller inputs anymore. For example in dead space remake it results in not being able to run or open inventory and when I press pause it displays "mouse and keyboard layout" thinking I'm using mouse and keyboard. It usually says "controller layout". I couldn't find any other way to fix it other than restart moonlight. But the problem is that you can't just save anywhere you want and quit so you could restart it with some games, so you have to run to the nearest save point with broken controls.
Only way I found to get full screen is to set your resolution on PC to a 16:10 resolution in windows and then change to 800p streaming in moonlight. Alternatively, some folks mentioned using playnite which lets you force resolutions but I haven’t tried it
Lag is often caused by poor connection to Wi-Fi, especially if distance is too far.. Also, make sure you are connecting your PC to router by Ethernet to get the best results
@@steamdeckguy I actually get Baldurs Gate 3 to work by setting in game resolution to 1920x1200 where it fills in the bars on top and bottom. Cyberpunk doesn't work though. I still think it looks and plays well but there are black bars top and bottom. I am nitpicking. Overall this works pretty well. Cloud gaming is where it's at for me now.
I have a fold 3 phone but for some reason my decoding time is pretty high 14-22ms, I think the SD888 is capable for lower than that, is there something I can do to lower that?
@@steamdeckguy No. Not even if i add the spot in which the game is installed. That being said- I see games like P5R and Scorn on your screen. I have both of those installed via gamepass and moonlight does not show them as playable options.
@@paleguytony create a desktop shortcut for the game via Xbox app and then add that game to GeForce experience. You don’t add the directory, you add the specific game under shield settings if I remember rightly. You have to rename it and you can add artwork, but it’s been a while since I looked at it so I can’t remember the exact steps
Moonlight wont work anymore because nvidia will remove gamestream from their drivers in a few months for no reason but to push people to buy geforce now.
@@steamdeckguy I hope so, I hope someone comes out with an open source version that’s user friendly. Been looking at sunshine and it looks so tedious to setup….
@@steamdeckguy They already have :) Check out Sunshine streaming. It's compatible with AMD, NVidia and Intel GPUs. I am using it with great success (Windows 10). Thanks for the informative video, with the limited capacity on a Steam Deck and games as mahoosive as Forza, the is a great solution.
