@@steamdeckguy thank you for the quick reply. Yeah I checked, they were still installed, and emulation station and roms, and so on. Just weren't populated in Gaming mode. Just had to add them again and everything is working fine now 😉 Great content. Thank you so much
I use a USB drive in this video to reinstall steamOS. You can follow the same method using a microSD card. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8SqomrDTYfs.html
@daexter8971 use the x64 version, then once you've extracted the zip file open balena by the item called "balena-etcher". Mines currently cloning now, will be changing drive over tonight once kids in bed 🤣
I see so many videos about on Decky! And without fail, 90% of the comments below are Decky broke my XZY on my Steam Deck. I don't understand why content creators are promoting Decky when it is clearly unstable and comes with high risks.
The issues isn’t decky at all. its people installing steamOS beta releases and then wondering why they run into issues. People need to actually learn what beta actually means. I don’t promote any beta stuff on my channel for that reason. If you stick to stable you’ll be fine, and imo decky is essential.
the nvme enclosure is a great tip... i got the 1tb model and before it has even arrived i just bought a 2tb nvme lmao so the 1tb nvme was gonna go into a bin but now i can use it. thanks
Great video. Just followed the process and Deck storage is upgraded to 2TB. My unit does not have the heat foil on top of the screw for some reason (different metal plate - bought in Japan) which made that part even easier. The reboot took a long time tho, probably because I've used a slow flashdrive. I took the opportunity to also install a copper heat shield at the SSD instead of the foil. Thank you for sharing this.
Following your guide was pretty easy, the LCD model i got on sale had different wiring so I only ended up having to unplug the power while i did the swap and i used the older version of the cloning software and everything went smooth, i erased all my games before cloning and just reinstall after the swap, I had a complete panic attack waiting for that first boot up but it seems perfect Got 2tb to work with now : D
Now I can finally play Cyberpunk for more than an hour at a time! It even made my custom modded maps for black ops 3 zombies more stable to stream. Thank you!
I have been tempted to use emu deck compression tool, but worried it will ruin my game library and makes games unplayable like Dreamcast games. Has anyone had a good experience with it?
I’m focussing on the steam deck, but no reason why you can’t install moonlight on other devices. The steps to setup sunshine on your PC will be the same
So I’ve started over. Followed your instructions completely. Etcher flashed and verified. Looked at storage and nothings changed, still saying 1.8TB free. This was a brand new WD_BLACK SN770M 2TB. I give up and ill have to start over which is ballache.
@Steam Deck Guy, My Steam Deck is the LCD 256 gb model, I had to factory reset my Steam Deck, Now all of a sudden my internal storage says 70 gb Instead of 256gb. I'm trying to figure out what in the blue hell has happened?
@@russellmay9841 look up a guide on how to extend the partition - it should be straight forward fix. By default, steamOS will extend storage to unused space automatically, but I am assuming because you had created your own partitions (for windows) it hasn’t done it.
I dont know the problem with mine, it doesn't go to desktop mode immediately i click on the usb in the recovery mode it starts showing many things installing and then it goes to black screen mode i wish i can send a video
When I boot from the flashdrive I keep getting an error. Btrf something. It just keeps giving me the same error over and over and it never boots I'm lost. I followed every single instruction
I wouldn't have known about Steam Link without your video. Glad there is another way to play my Steam Deck on my laptop, I was thinking of getting a new monitor but this is really useful.
For me the hardest part was removing the battery connector. When I pulled the black tag the tag just ripped off and the wires got exposed but I managed to push the connector out by using a thin and sharp tool and pushed the outer edge.
Hello! Hoping you can help me out here! I want to stream games from steam deck to twitch and have thought of using obs but cannot use obs on desktop mode while playing games in game mode. Is there a way I can play games on desktop mode instead?
Great video, the x64 Etcher download is now a zip, could not figure out how to get it to work, so got an earlier version from softronic. Worked great thank you.
Did they remove Yuzu? Followed these step by steps today and I couldnt find it amongst emulators available for install. Also, this program is far from easy for a new user as nothing is intuitive.
Definitely not. Your sensitive data shouldn't be connected to an internet connection at all. Only hardwired Lan would be safe in this case. Having said that, if you don't have classified military documents on your phone, it's really not something to worry about. No data is ever secure the second you have any external connection. But if you're not being targeted by dangerous individuals typical network security is sufficient. In all seriousness though don't store really sensitive stuff like password lists on digital devices and be prepared to have any of your photos leaked. A simple usb c storage device for the sensitive data really goes a long way in protecting your privacy. Even major companies like Sony get hacked but just like being robbed irl it really depends on how much of a target you really are. Tldr: It's not that worrying but always keep truly sensitive data away from internet connected devices.

For anyone wanting to run this in window mode; Find the where the exe is located, create a new shortcut and Add --windowed in the Target box. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Link\SteamLink.exe" --windowed
