Nice camp Pat and you're right, England's green and pleasant land...I lived in Spain for a while on the costa del sol and in the summer it was horrendous heat, like 45c some days and like you say it's barren land. I appreciate and love the green rainy place we call home so much.

Limb Valley, a place I haven't been since I was an early teenager going on walks with my parents on the church walking group events. I think I need to revisit soon, maybe even retrace your footsteps (again LOL). I do like the mods you have made to the tent, very handy. I missed the Rail Ale event this year as we were preparing to fly out to Tenerife on the following Monday. You are right about it being a barren landscape overseas, and the return home to the greenery we have here, is always welcome. Looking forward to your trip up Derwent Valley Patrick. Dinner looked amazing. 😋 A small tube of Colemans English mustard would have been perfect. These cupa soups with croutons are pretty decent nowadays also.

If only I had known you wanted a green enan I could have sold you one, it's going on ebay soon. ... Great job with the terra nova, it's so similar to the enan in many ways... Thank you for treating us to steak and chips! You inspire me to bring more real food out on my backcountry trips. The tent modifications look brilliant and seem to be working well. Many of us forget we can make a few changes to gear, even it if was a bit costly, there's always room for personal innovation. You are talented when it comes to sewing. As for the quilt, gotta love EE. They make very nice kit. Sometimes, I just slip a silk sleeping bag liner over my pad if I don't wish to feel the pad surface. It generally works well. Cheers!

Great video Patrick. The spot that you chose to camp was ideal. It was sheltered from any winds 'if it had been windy that is' and also underneath that lovely tree as well. I love trees they are therapeutic to look at and in your case provided you some privacy as well. The whole camp set up looked so snug and the tranquillity and the peacefulness added to the whole video. I am so glad that I found your channel and look forward to your videos each month. Keep them coming because us as viewers love your personality because you are such a lovely laid back kind of person.

Excellent! I like the idea of a water filter. I will have the pleasure of watching this in full when I am home from hiking in Ireland (based in Letterkenny). My Lowe-Alpine soon weighs a ton I think 10-12 kg with some tech as you say. My big anxiety is disposing of a few rucksacks (that are really worn out ) without landfill being involved.

Hi Pat, Lovely to see you out ‘n’ about. Some years ago I lived not too far from those gardens. Played there as a kid, and spent many summer afternoons catching sticklebacks in the nearby park during the 1960s. Also remember a large house, located next to the gardens, that was destroyed by fire around 1972 time - believe that house had connections with the owner of James Neil Tools. What was left was demolished during the mid-1980s, and a small housing estate was erected in its place. Great video my friend. Best regards, Phil. P.s, recently returned to Sheffield.

An amazing man in an amazing land,

Hi Pat, yes I remembered this spot at once, very well protected in more than one way!! Your sewing skills really paid off good to see your kit getting a new lease of life👌👌 Fully understand what you mean about the countryside in my neck of the woods and as a tourist I know its difficult to find the hidden spots which are worth making the effort to visit. Yesterday I was scrambling about on the hillside trying to find the header pond for an abandoned electricity generating station. After a few wrong turns I got there and boy was it worth it. You won't see these places on the tourist map though. Still snow on the mountains high up even when its well above 30° down at my level. Hope you had a great time in Granada and at least got to try the tapas!! Look forward to seeing you in the Derwent valley All the best!!
