Hi, my name is Pat and my channel is mainly wild camping, but having built a Pub Shed it will feature quite alot in my videos, and will involve drinking a lot of beer. My Channel does have a lot of underground exploring adventures on, I may do some more. Europen rail travel will be a main and interesting feature, I have many trips planned, hopefully one day I will be able to complete and film these Cheers Pat
Hi Joejoe yes it certainly adds to a decent nights sleep and I know it is better for me, but a few whisky’s can add to the wild camping experience…….thanks Pat
Hello there Pat, Thanks for the latest video, really enjoyed that one. I must travel down to the Peak Distict ,the shots were stunning. You might get some better weather in August....who knows!🤞 Looking forward to the next one. ATB Michael.
Thanks Michael, it’s certainly a beautiful area up the Derwent Valley and looking forward to exploring it over next months ……here’s to some better weather…….thanks Pat
I spent last night up on Derwent Edge, but this area might be my next outing. I didn’t realise that you could drive quite so far round the reservoirs. I might make use of Kings Tree parking for getting out onto High Stones. Cracking video as always sir 👌🏼
Hi Philip yes the road up the side of the reservoir certainly saves a bit of walking,it’s 7km from Fairholmes, just remember it’s only open Monday to Friday………thanks Pat
Hi Andrea yes myself and Billy went all over Europe , as far as Gibraltar and Athens, we had some great adventures and had some memorable trips. I probably will of mentioned Billy passed away around 20 years ago, but the adventures we had are always in my memory…….thanks Pat
@patrickdickinson6492 we watch your videos over and over again , and often wondered if Billy went on your adventures . Look forward to seeing your next video .
Hi Anthony yes carrying cans of beer can really add some weight, but A little drink in the tent at night can add to the general atmosphere of a camp, so perhaps a wee dram of whisky may fit the bill…….thanks Pat
Another great video, thanks, and glad to see you having more fun. You never mention ticks. I'd be covered going that off piste in Scotland, don't you get lots?
Hi Peter, never had any problems with ticks, but I wear long trousers and long sleeves, and are aware of the problems, and with a hat on for the sun then little of my skin is exposed…….thanks Pat
Hi Robert, I was experimenting with being sensible, it might be a bit late, hopefully we will see a few weeks drams on future wild camping trips…….thanks Pat
I really enjoy that you articulate so clearly! I am quite old (76 years old) and I am Danish, so it is a pleasure to hear your stories and thoughts about outdoor life. Thanks!
Hi Pat, love your vids 🙌 I was camped at Crow Stones last Tuesday night after walking from King’s Tree via High Stones, Margery Hill & Outer Edge. I made a video of the camp. I remember looking over to Horse Stone Naze fancying a night on there, but watching your video it might be a challenge to get pitched. If you have time please have a look at my video here. I’d really appreciate it, Thank you ATB Dave ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9GcWVBZzk8Y.htmlsi=r5byQ8pz_UK7xBEj
Hi Dave yes a great spot to camp, which I,am saving for Autumn / Winter time, great views from up Horse Stones, it is thick with heather on top but there are some places to pitch on the Naze, seen your vid, some great drone footage there......thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I may go take a look one day. Can’t wait for Heather to come out, it’s just starting to. Billberries are out 😋 Thank you for watching my video Pat. Take care Dave
I'm thinking that thing needs some kind of metal grid over the top... people just can't be trusted. Imagine they made it at a slightly lower angle, it would make one hell of a ride on good days (I'm joking of course). Thanks for you work Patrick you have done a great job of answering all the questions I had about that thing :)
Hi there I believe there has never been any problem with the open plug hole and u a metal grid could cause blocking problems , it would make an unbelievable ride to slide down, but I won’t be trying it…….thanks Pat
Hot food, a dry shelter and rain on the roof, very relaxing for the viewer. That simple one pot chilly meal looked just the job, Will be giving it a go.
You need a hip flask Pat. Try experimenting with rum. I recommend O Haras Spiced Rum. Delicious, and light (weight wise) And that weather was the jet stream - it’s been stuck south of the UK all summer, pulling down unsettled weather from the north
Hi Stephen, no postcode just follow the left hand road as far as you can along ladybower , Derwent and Howden dams to Kings Tree at the end of the road…….thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 Instead of carrying water have you never thought about carrying a filter like a B Free or Sawyer? I use both for the River Ashop when I am camping and have never been ill. I always check about 200 ft upstream to make sure no sheep have fell in and died, but it is definitely a game changer for weight!
Great stuff Pat 👍 Don't think we've been further than slippery stones up that way. We'll have to go and have a nosey. Looked a lovely spot! Agree with you about Auschwitz, we went a few years back, a very sobering experience! All the best, James and Laura
Hello to both of you and yes explore further beyond Slippery Stones there is some beautiful wild places up there. Auschwitz certainly brings it home to you how lucky we are now……thanks Pat
Hi pat, was wondering if you could help, Iam planning a camp to start at edale up ringing rodger across the 7 minute crossing and on to the Chinese wall, how far is the start of the 7 minute crossing from the top of ringing rodger and once across how far is the Chinese wall?? Any help would be much appreciated . Thanks
Hi Johnathan, when you get to the top of Ringing Rodger turn left for around 400 m and then head directly north across the moor you should hit the northern edge path in 7 mins. Chinese wall is approx 3 miles further west along the northern edge path, you’ll see the best part of Kinder Scout……thanks Pat
Wow! Another amazing video as always Pat! We never know what we are going to get but you can guarantee it will be good! Thanks & dare I say it already awaiting the next one. 😃no pressure though. Take care. ❤️xx
Hi Sylvia, really enjoy sharing these adventures, the Upper Derwent Valley is a isolated and rugged area all waiting to be explored and I’m sure there will be some great places to wild camp , looking forward to some great adventures….thanks Pat
Looks like a beautiful place to wild camp and explore, despite the wind and rain. I really enjoyed that video and thanks for sharing your adventure! Cheers!
Thanks Pete, so many different places to camp and certainly the last wild and isolated area in this area, it’s going to be challenging but looking forward to forward to exploring the area…..thanks Pat
I always know I will enjoy your videos before watching them! Thank you for sharing the food hydration and rehydration process. I need any advice you may have for light weight camping for my mountain expeditions here in Taiwan, food is always the heavy item to carry for me.
Hi John yes great to share my camping experiences, the dehydrated food really saves on weight and interesting to experiment with different meals……thanks Pat
I think mother nature gave you the Gail force wind as she knew rain was coming. So glad you went back down, it would have been really unpleasant at the top later on. A fab looking chilli but not to sure about the fruit and custard. Another fab video, thanks for sharing 😊
