lovely video. What I don't understand is that you added lime and fertiliser as part of the restoration process - bogs are nutrient poor, acidic habitats?

Peat damaged by industrial pollution can have the same level of acidity as lemon juice - we add lime and fertiliser so that a temporary cover of grass can grow and protect the peat from erosion while we work to reintroduce native dwarf shrubs. Isnt it the gamekeepers that look after the moors by cool burning and helping the heather regenerate? The government gave open access on moors to all and sundry and its these tourists who have bbqs and throw Cigarettes that cause the wild fires in summer which damage the peat
