Nice Truck. Just bought a nice used 2021 ram 1500 bighorn crew cab for my wife and am going to buy these and install them for her. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the video! Gonna help me a lot. Just picked up the part this morning, gonna start installing today. Local dealers wanted $1,350 for labor, one even quoted me $2k! 😱
Great video. I just bought a 2022 Big Horn and it needs running boards. I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video and to being honest with your review of the product. I will be buying the Mopar running boards soon. Again, thanks.
You know what?? You are 1 of the few who actually read and respond to your viewers. I like that. Congrats on a new sub! Keep up the good work young man.
First off, THANK YOU! Huge video for anyone doing this install. For me, I cut a slit in the emergency brake cable grommet and used a wire fish for that and both fenders. The wire fish from the bottom only took one try and it was easy to keep it on the outside of the wheel well. Obviously taped the ends to protect them but super quick. Wiring took 15 mins and that was including thinking about using a wire fish, finding it, etc. There is absolutely no reason to run these wires in two separate firewall holes. I honestly cannot comprehend using that one grommet with the nipple, the backside is covered in a bundle of connectors that you risk damaging. I tucked everything in accordingly with the zip ties and I see no reason to ever follow those Mopar instructions 🙂
I'm installing Bed Lights at the same time. Bed light instruction call for harness to be routed through the nipple. Neither instruction sheet says "if you're also installing xxx, then...."
Thanks for this awesome find! Called the dealer just to see how much they would charge... $456!!!! So thanks for saving me almost $500! I knew there had to be an easier way!
Yep. Just need to get a dealer to add the sales code so you can get the button added to your uconnect if you want manual control but I never use my button
@@ButterDaInsider you da man! Got em on in 2:15…by myself!!! My passenger step motor connection was cracked so had to tape the hell outta it. Only other major issue was figuring out which direction the red wire goes into the harness…because it never clicked! But they are on and working!! Thanks again!!
@@cptstangem The part number says 3 hours of labor but it took the dealer 4. They still billed me for 3 which was cool. You still have to pay the dealer for 1 hour even if you install yourself because they have to flash Uconnect for it to show up in the screen. So realistically you are paying for 2 hours which is well worth it for me. I got a killer price with some coupons, I break it all down in a video for more details and the process/show the dealer billing for you to see but I was around 1600 all said and done. People have paid upwards of 2k+ depending on region and dealer. Hit me up in Instagram and I can send you the coupons to use at the dealer for parts and labor if they are still active.
Thanks man. You saved me a few hundred in the future when my truck gets delivered. After looking at the instructions I was planning on letting the dealer do it. Not now. Slick truck BTW.
Great video! On my 2020 mega I put the AMP power steps. Love them super solid, only thing I didn’t like is they are OBDII connected. So on my ‘24 I was looking to do the OEM step so that they don’t use the OBDII connection. But seeing the flex in the “factory” steps I will definitely be going back to AMP.
I heard with the Mopar running boards that you can control them through the uconnect. Like a bypass switch to open them without opening the doors. Which is a good idea when parking in a parking lot so it can help prevent door dings from others. Is this true?
I put Amp Research steps on my 2016, took 2 of us about 7 hours. But we also had to trim the steps for the quad cab size, setup nutzerts, and drill holes for puddle lights which are a nice touch. The Mopar versions don't look quite as nice but having them is still great.
Good video, Just and FYI on the wiring you said the Bn/Gn does not make sense it does though. Then BN/GN stands for Brown with a green stripe. Thats how the color code works for wiring. when it has 2 sets of letters one is the color of the wire the other is the color of the stripe. hope that helps.
Were you able to get the dealership to "flash" the system to recognize the new Mopar boards? My dealership installed mine on a new 2024 RAM Laramie. Boards were installed as you show but dealership tells me that since they weren't factory installed, they couldn't do it... Your thoughts?
Awesome video and exactly what I was looking for… 1 question…. I have an elderly family member who I take for rides… he can get into my truck with standard fixed running boards… Can you give me an estimate how far from the ground to the top of the running boards.. hoping these lower enough so he can get into my truck… thanks again
Great video in this part did you open the power side box I bought this power running board but the person who sold it to me didn’t give to me that things,do you know if I can Find the pieces (module, arnes etc.) somewhere?
Got my 2022 Laramie the other day and want to put these on. Where did you order them from? I’ve searched the Mopar website and I can’t tell what is the whole set and what is just parts. Dealer seams just as confused as me. Where did you order from? Great video! I look forward to using it for my install
Thanks for another killer video! Love the steps man! Curious why these aren't available from the factory...I know they said the rear suspension was in the way or something, but your install is factory fresh!
Thanks for the vidya! Any chance you have the install kid part number(s)? I have some running boards off a wrecked truck and I need the related parts to install them on my 2020. Thanks!
Fantastic video. I have the same boards on my 20 1500. Love them. My situation is, I've just placed an order for a 22 TRX. Can you provide the part number and who to order these from?
Hi. Do your power running boards come down further/lower than the factory style chrome running boards? I have a 4" lift on my truck and the wife finds it too high getting in the truck now because she's short lol. Thanks.
Awesome content man I placed my order for that Ram TRX and this month i should receive confirmation delivery day (outside USA) one question- can you share the part number of the running boards I want to install that
Hey man! I’m about to do this same install… the part where you open the fuse box to connect the wire to one of the bolts….which one did you connect it to? The one that has no nut on it? Or which one? The instructions say to unscrew the nut from the second from the right, but mine has nothing on that one… confused! Help! 😂
Great video - thank you. Any chance you know what the part number is for that parts box you cut open and unpacked? I have the power running boards that are fully assembled ready to bolt on - they came off a DT Limited - I just need the wiring components to install like you have done. If you could share those part numbers, it would be amazing. Thank you in advance.
Thanks for posting this video. Wanting to add these to a 3500HD Cummins, I am assuming it's a different wiring harness. Could you recommend an online source where I could find this information?
They should all be the same, they probably just have them under different codes for cab lengths. Dealer is the cheapest way to go to avoid shipping fees
Had these same running boards installed on my 2022 Trx by the dealer. Need your help boards don’t always come out. And sometimes I’ll get a dash message saying side steps unavailable need service. Took it back to the dealership for a update a week later same problem. Any ideas?
I just finished installing. Thank you for the video. My boards don't open all the way and the other side doesn't close all the way. Do you know how to fix that ? Thanks
@@ButterDaInsider Thank you for replying I'll double check the pins, I had to unplug them, they kept opening and closing on their own while I was driving. And now I'm hearing a clicking noise from the driver footwell where the small green connector is at.
@@ButterDaInsider You truly are Butter Da Great. It was the orange wire in the black connector I had it in the wrong spot. Everything is working flawlessly now. Thank you
Anyone? Did you zip-tie the wiring harness behind the wheel wells? instructions said to but i dont know if i can do that without taking off the wheel well liners and exactly to what to tie them to? im working on installing these on trx as well been watching the video which really does help thanks!
@@ButterDaInsider awesome, thanks for all the great and quick tips. at least that way i know it will work for me! your video is literally the best how to install on these power mopar boards on youtube!
My should be coming soon for my new dodge rebel. I was told by the gentleman that I bought them from that they plug into the OBD port. can I direct wire them
How did you literally just read my mind lol. I was wondering if this was possible, because the standard off road ones are a bit too high for the little ones.
Hi there. I have a question about to fit these Mopar power running boards on my 2021 2500 power wagon? any suggestions? or do you guys think is not gonna fit? thank you for any reply.
Yeah as far I know if it is the same quad cab size the mounting holes should be the same and work. They only make a couple different lengths depending on cab size
Took an hour. Charged an hour of labor. Found out you can get your salesman to add the sales code in their dealer connect if your friendly with them for free
Butter, did you get the flash for the button for the UConnect? My dealer said they didn’t know about it. They did the install but I don’t see the button that everyone is talking about. Thanks
My dealer quoted me an hour labor to flash it. What’s the point of flashing it so it shows on screen? Just so you can manually extend them? Not sure I really care....
@@billyjenkins3015 the point of flashing it is for that, it adds the turn off and on switch. There may be times you don’t want them to deploy every time you open the door. I’m tall and I don’t want them deploying all the time. If I know the wife is riding with me, I turn them on etc.
Just did this! Thanks for the video! Took me 2 hours taking my time. Dealer wanted 5 hours labor 🙄 Do you also have a larger gap towards the rear? I got a 1” gap in front and 2” in the back (board to body). I think Ram could have had better fitment than this?!
@@ButterDaInsider ahhhh. Understood. I found a pair of steps at a dealer. Going to throw them up with my buddy. I appreciate the video. My kids and wife will definitely appreciate it haha
Lol. Whenever your talking your always looking to the left.... ya got a nice blonde standing to your left on every video? Lol. Nice truck and good video👍👍
I went to the RAM dealer and they were unable to download the needed software. They stated RAM technical said not possible to download to my truck. Does anyone have a copy of page 1 of the instructions? Of course I moved and ditched the box and instructions. Thanks all. Jim Sousa from New Hampshire
