The Kansbol is a variation of the Mora 2000 . Simply a large scalpel and one of the best blades for processing large and small game . It's easy to keep the blade razor sharp using only a ceramic rod and small hand strop . Great review of an awesome knife . THX
Thanks again brother! Yep I love this knife and I also carry the Eldris, which is just a small kansbol really. My ceramic strikers can be used to hone a knife edge too! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Absolutely agree with you brother! I have several Moras, and I think I have two if not three of these. ( all in green though) I’d definitely like to add a orange one to my collection as it’s a great colour for when I’m in the woods! Thanks for watching and commenting friend! Best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎
I have two 511 , a classic1/0 , a carbon steel companion and a Garberg inox but i love this Kansbol and the Eldriss ! Will buy that nice knife ! Thanks from France .
What a great knife! I thought about getting this knife but I ended up buying a Ka-Bar 1256 Short Model. It has similar dimensions (8.7" OAL for this Kansbol, 9.3" OAL for the Ka-Bar 1256), but is a bit beefier which comes in handy at work, where there are sometimes some pretty harsh tasks. I've found this size category of knife to be ideal for daily carry. It's big enough to be very useful and versatile, while small enough for me to keep in my front pocket.
Yep I agree with you mate! I still use mine regularly and it’s holding up well. Thanks for your watching and taking the time to comment. Very best wishes 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏽😎
I gotta say that your assumption that you can not baton with this knife is completely wrong. If it's a full tang or not doesn't make the slightest of difference. At the end of the day, this is a Mora. And you just can't kill a Mora. When I used to work as a carpenter (every carpenter uses a Mora in Sweden) we used to try to kill these knives but breaking one of them is nearly impossible. Especially doing tasks you usually do when you do bushcraft. You can baton all you want. If you fancy a hammer please use one to baton with. It's not going to break the knife. Mora has a chisel knife we used to split stones with. That tells you something about these knives. On the other hand, I've had full tang knives break on me. I was dumb enough to buy into the whole "full tang" craze. At the end I realised that I already had the perfect knife.
Thanks for your watching and commenting! Each to their own mate! I generally use a axe to chop and a knife to carve, probably just me. Best wishes. P.s I’ve never said don’t baton at all, but only to use any tool within its design capabilities.
It is full tang and I’ve even seen (DBK) baton with it and even the robust and companion. These things are beasts. This one is definitely a good for processing small amounts of wood. Of course, I never baton as I use a folding saw, but I’ve seen it done many times. I’ve seen tons of batonning with the basic ones even. Idk what they do, but Mora makes some amazing knives. Check out GPS if you ever get a chance. You’d like those too, especially the leather sheaths.
It is a 3/4 tang, can be used for light batoning but people have broken them by over doing it. Same with all Moras they do have an eventual breaking point. Of course the Garberg is full tang, quite expensive, heavier and tougher all round but is not indestructible either. It seems, according to many, that the Companion HD is their best mix of strength and price currently.
The compound grind on this blade caught my eye -- but the ergonomics of the handle and the blade steel being the same as my new pocket knife (which I really like) -- that was enough to send one of these in burnt orange into my waiting hands . . . tomorrow!
Excellent! You won’t be disappointed! I still use mine regularly and it’s been fantastic! Hope you enjoy yours! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment! Best wishes mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Thank you again sir! It was good of you man! I appreciate it a lot! Won’t forget it bro! Yep you the man for testing gear out to the max 😂😂😂😉👍🏽Take care my friend 😎
You already know...Im a HUGE MORAkniv fan!!!! Excellent BUDGET blade and a nice bang around blade!!! I have never battoned with mine.....worried about damaging the spine. Great video, Brother 🔥👍🏼😎👍🏼🔥
Thanks again sister! Yep I agree with your comments, I’ll do a little video regarding the subject of battening soon. I don’t normally do it to my “bushcraft “ type knives just wanted to show this is a reasonably tough little knife if not abused! Great to hear from you as always my friend 👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏼😎🔥best wishes
Great video I have a mora robust and a companion but never tried one of these, thanks for sharing this info I like your fire pit too, looks good Take care Seems everyone has that stupid cold these last few weeks
Thanks again brother! Yes I have a few moras, same as you have, this version is quite versatile imo, and offers a little bit of everything if that makes sense, jack of all trades master of none! Lol... thanks yes the fire pit is my old open fire basket from out of my house! I have a stove in there now! Ideal for playing outside with! I appreciate your watching and commenting again my friend 👍🏽Best wishes brother ✌🏽😎👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks again brother! Any of the mora knifes, line up are good buys imo! From the cheap 511 to the Mora Garberg! All will serve you well! Hope your well my brother! Very best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎🙏🏼
Nice knife. it is on the wish list. I can see where sharpening it would give you fits. Not a battoning guy either. Better to carry a more suitable tool, especially if you are making a fire to survive cold weather and you need lots of fuel. Thank you for the review, Andy
Thanks brother! Yep definitely agree with your comments I would only batton if I had no other choice! I would definitely be carrying the right tools for the job unless I was in a true do or die situation! Hope you get one of these! You won’t be disappointed! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
nice video, ive never been sold on the design, but i can see where it would be handy, especially for slicing, and anyone i know who has one says their a bugger to sharpen
Yes I know what you mean! It’s neither a Survival knife nor a bushcraft knife, but it is a good allrounder! And I think the more you use it, the more the design starts to make sense! Thanks for watching brother! Best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽
@@MadDogSurvival No, that's not what he meant, he meant that it still is a scandi in the front part and that's 100% true. /that front part on the Kansbol is not a full flat grind, it's still a scandi , they just thin the edge but they didn't shange the grind at all. Full flat grinds eventually get thiner and thiner from spine to the edge bevel Kansbol has the same thickness on the spine as on it's edge from tip to back It's a full scnadi edge knife, like most of their knives.
Yep me too brother I usually get carbon steel too but I won this one in a giveaway! Yep I have the Eldris also cracking little knife! Thanks for watching my friend! Best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival ,awesome, no problem mate, loved the video, I gotta get some dirt time,I work too much, love your camp setup, I'd love to be out in the woods, nothing wrong with stainless steel, I have a old mora companion my buddy gave me I've been using, he got a new mora, but I got to so.e how figure out how to sharpen it or strope,it,been a great little knife but no sharp spine, grest grip in the hands,i
@@MadDogSurvival ,I use my companion as my kitchen knife too, works great at trimming fat of pork chops an sliceing,we'll anyway ty,waiting on more of your videos, I'll subscribe to your channel.
There is no Kansbol in carbon steel. There also never was a Mora 2000 or Bushcraft Forest (same blade design but with polished blade flanks). I'd love to see Mora produce that blade in carbon steel but so far they don't seem to think of that.
Just a stupid question but what are the legalities of owning this knife in the UK? Keep hearing on the US news over here about how almost all knives are illegal over there. Great video with useful info. Thanks.
So as things are at the moment the law is we can carry a knife as long as it’s less than 3inches in length, none locking and not deemed “tactical”... however we can own and use knives that are fixed blades as long as we have just and good reason to do so! Therefore we can do Bushcraft fishing etc... on land with permission and carry knives at these times, obviously not in any public place! I hope this helps mate! Thank you very much for watching my friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎 best wishes
Thanks! Yes the media and politics demonising the knife to cover up the fact that we have a gang culture problem! Simple as that! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival Just like us here in US. It is ashame that the media and politicians are trying to divide their people by spreading such BS! BTW--I served with some of your guys over in Iraq. Nice fellas. Cheers man.
Agreed! Thank you for your service brother! I served and was in Iraq in 002-3 ! I met some of your fellas also (from the 101st) great fellas! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎🇺🇸🍻
Oh yeah BTW mora eldris is a great little carver, love how light it is an is super sharp, also guys with larger hands,I found a trick to it you may like, turn the sheath around an put the open end on the handle of the eldris an it'll click onto it as a longer handle extention, ty,saw someone else do this.
Well for a backup knife you won’t go far wrong with one of these! For the price you could buy two or three of these for the cost of one garberg ! And imo ... other than heavy battening what else does the garberg do that the Kansbol can’t? Either way you will definitely be getting a great knife my mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎 thanks again brother best wishes ✌🏽
Thanks again brother! I’d definitely recommend it! You won’t be disappointed! Especially if your into game prep etc.... thank you for your support again brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎best wishes friend
Love my Mora knife 😊 I gonna ordering some stuff on your ebay now tomorrow. You let me know bout the price for sending it over. By d way... U look and sound like u could 2with some hot milk with honey 🍯. Takes d cold away. ✌🏼 🐺🐾
No problem! I’ll let you know about shipping to you.... don’t worry I’ll get it to you, and not to expensive!! Yes I feel I’ve got a bit of a cold again at moment! Bloody snivel nose! Lol... thank you again sister 👍🏽👍🏽😎best wishes
Not aggravating mate but it’s definitely not as easy as a simple scandi grind! I personally think it’s easier to start with the flat grind tip end, following that profile on a wet stone, then I turn to the scandi part of the blade, following the same profile, and finally trying to evenly blend the two half’s together. I then spend a little time with the leather strop. Thanks for watching my friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎 best wishes
@@MadDogSurvival - I couldn't decide between them either so I erred on the side of caution and purchased both. The Kansbol has a 90 deg. spine and throws sparks much better than the 2000 but I think the 2000 has a more comfortable handle.
You may laugh,,,, I finally ordered the green and burnt orange. I will keep one in the truck for emergency and take other to Europe, My girlfriend uses them as kitchen knife often, I have a Benchmade $225 knife I don't want her to use as kitchen knife when we travel.. It is my only chance against bears... no guns there... I feel the Mora is great for most stuff.
Lol.... can’t fault you brother! Sounds like I’d be making exactly the same decisions 😂👍🏽👌🏽👌🏽 yep keep her away from your bench made baby brother 😁😂..... best wishes mate
I was going to finance a Benchmade 940 and I decided I would rather have this inexpensive mora. I've never had a large quality folding knife and I just couldn't get over the benefits of the fixed
Yes heavy cotton with fleece lining, I’ve owned it for over ten years now and is comfortable and warm enough for bushcraft use over here in the uk. It’s hard wearing and water resistant. Cost me £15 from a surplus store hope this helps mate 👍🏽😎
Thank you brother! Yes the one I won from your giveaway is still in its box as new ! Keeping that one nice in my collection! Thank you very much again brother 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎best wishes
Hello mate.... it’s a old French Army M300 winter parka. I’ve had it about 12 years now! Ideal for bushcraft type of use and they are usually only cheap! Hope this helps mate 👍🏽Best wishes
@@MadDogSurvival i got an old Swedish parka similar to that from a sportsman guide catalog over a decade ago. Its been on many a hunting trip. Think i paid 10bucks for it.
@@MadDogSurvival Friend this is a true way to make fire in survival, use what nature gives us, without matches, without ferroferium, or lighter, nothing at all, only with what we have at hand, perdon por mi ingles es de traductor... Gracias ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IBW0dU12A0o.html
Too hard to sharpen for me, my blades get nicked weekly and I don't have the time to go back and forth over a transition to get it perfect with stones or strops. Great knife just doesn't fit my needs. Moras are so cheap it's easy to accidentally try them all
@@MadDogSurvival Nice video, you're the UK I suspect ? You may laugh but I have been trying to decide between the orange and green for a few days. Green is my favorite color but I like orange because it is harder to loose. I was in Ireland a few years ago, Got to hear Depeche Mode in Belfast, I now it is Northern Ireland part of the UK. but I like Europe and over here in the States is is crazy. I like the simplicity I find in Eastern Europe.
Thanks yep I’m in the midlands, I understand what you mean, I have the same problem sometimes when choosing kit colours heart says greens etc... head says loud bright survival colours! Lol... Ireland is beautiful down south! I stayed in around cork/kerry as a young man. I try to keep my videos as honest and real life as I can, as for plugging.... I’m afraid I do occasionally plug my little eBay shop stuff, all bushcraft/survival related items though! Have a good week mate best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival no problem, we all have to earn a living. In the stares everything is about money. not just earning a living. keep enjoying the beauty of nature.
Good to see you again brother!!! I to have a Kansbol. One of my favourite Mora's. I also really like the Robust. Hey, if you get a chance. Check out Jeff white knives. Handforged high carbon steel. I have the Bush knife model. Peace brother.🇺🇸💪
Thanks again brother! Yep I have the robust too ! I do love my Moras ! I’ll definitely check out your friend mate! Sounds good! I get the feeling you’re knife from him is going to be something special!! Looking forward to seeing it ! Best wishes brother 👍🏽👍🏽Take care 😎
