The Mora (Morakniv) Classic No. 2 is a Made In Sweden, carbon steel, painted birch handled all-around bushcraft knife. And "Classic" is certainly not an understatement, this is an iconic bushcraft piece.
Check out how it performs, help me figure out why feathersticking the oak went worse than I've ever experienced with this knife before, and definitely look into getting one of these! The blade length is 4.25" on the No. 2, but two smaller models are also available (the No. 1 has a 3.85" blade, the No. 2/0 has a 2.875" blade). These MAY have been discontinued (they're sold out on most sites I look at), which would be tragic. Let me know if that's the case or not if you know!

Listed specifications:
Overall length: 8.25"
Blade length: 4.25"
Weight: 95g
Blade Steel: UHB20C (Swedish equivalent of 1095, with a few additives)
Handle material: Red painted birch
Sheath: Thin polymer
Made in Sweden

We got our first "thumbs down" on this video! We take all feedback seriously, so if we ever put out a video you don't like, write the reason why in the comments so we can address it going forward. Thanks! :)

I really like the handle on this one!! Thanks for sharing!!

Definitely worth looking into! IF you can find it, you should be able to get it for $20 or less, but you'll want to look quick in case it has been discontinued (which to me it is kind of looking like it has been)! Handle fits the hand WONDERFULLY, but has a tendency to want to twist just a bit while batoning, but in every other task, it's super comfortable!

I have a Mora #1 and it feather sticks just great. It could be the piece of wood. I have 5 other Moras. Great value and high performance. 🎸🔪

Don't worry about thumbs down. No matter how well you do a video, someone can always give a thumbs down. If they were constructive with their criticism, they would leave a reason, but don't expect that. Maybe they don't like the name Mora? You are doing fine. I beat the crap out of my Mora Companion HD, and it shrugs it off. Great knives for the price.

Oh don't worry, it doesn't bother me at all! Like you said, I just wish that they had come with constructive criticism so I could improve! I agree with you, love Moras.

Bet you got that thumbs down for battoning, some people don't like that. I get a fair few thumbs down on my videos. I love the Mora classic, great knives.

If a knife can't handle battoning, it probably isn't worth it anyway.

These knives, can become literaly sharper than any Scalpel I've ever touched with my thumb. I can make any knife scary sharp, but these, because of the great Carbon steel, the zero scandi bevel edge, they become 2 times scary sharp!!! I got it to 3000 grit Mirror finish, then 7000 grit, then fine kangaroo leather strop, then again, as a finel stage, stropping on a stretched newspaper (black letters part) to realign the molecules of the steel....and that's how it can become way sharper than a scalpel!!

Nice knife! I love that style for woodworking. My EDC is pretty similar. I carry an L.T. Wright Boattail. I whittle with it for hours every day.

Mine has by far the best heat treatment I even had on any Mora. No other knife ,factory made knife I own ,has that kind of heat treatment. I have owned at least 20 Moras, none comes even close. In the same time, if you exclude the rough spine, it also has the best fit and finish of them all, Good job on the review! After I put my favorite slightly convexed mirror finish edge on it, it became a scary sharp scalpel! If you're not careful using it. It can take out a finger, like it was nothing! I would say , that it's only for VERY experienced knife users. You've been worned!

I don't understand you Americans and your obsession with full tang knives. You're holding a Mora for god's sake! You can't destroy it! Batton all you want it doesn't matter if it's a full tang or not. As long as it's a Mora it will work. I'm Swedish and work construction. We used to say "whoever destroys their Mora gets double pay for the month". No one gets double pay! Whoever says you can't batton on that knife don't know what the hell they're talking about.

When I bought my first Mora a #1/0 it came dangerously sharp right out of the box but I figured I'd give it a bit of help with a bit of stropping. My finest strop actually left small scratches on the blade I was using optical quality jewelers rouge (from an old Edmund Scientific reflector telescope kit I'd stolen from my dad)

Thumb up from me, cause you reviewed the Classic No. 2 very well. I own a few Moraknivs and in the next days, i became an Mora Classic which is around 60 Years old ^^ it was made by Carl Andersson.

Splitting twigs or carving feathers is more proper than ever batoning ever, but it especially hurt to see you just whack that poor blade through such a large split of wood.
@HaasGrotesk

The poor blade? It's a Mora for god's sake! Why wouldn't you be able to batton it?

@@HaasGrotesk batoning is for people who don't know how to use a knife
@HaasGrotesk
@HaasGrotesk Год назад
@@escapetherace1943 I think it's the opposite. Batoning is for people who know how to use a knive. The rest of you should probably walk around with knives where the tip is removed so you don't hurt yourselves.

Nice general review. You covered the important bits. Also even though you admittedly did not get the best feathers on the red wood the slices you did get would help a fire going and that is the ultimate goal. Thank you for sharing. You were the first to tell me the Mora Classic 2 now has a full length stick tang, thank you.

Glad you enjoyed the review! Yeah, no idea why the feathers didn't come out good on video, I had always had a lot of success with this exact knife in the past, but I guess that's the curse of doing something on camera. Great knife though!

Apparently you don't know how to hold it and don't have strength in your wrist/hand. That is why your carving is so pathetic and gives pretty bad view of that Mora which is a decent puukko

I painted mine green with two layers, because the red comes off when you wipe it down with a wet piece of cloth or industrial cleaning tissue or some ballistol universal oil. Really really annoying. Also, I put it in a vice, really tightly, and the damn thing wobbles like mad, as if it is broken inside (the tail). Such a disappointment. Edge retention is not great either (in my opinion, but I work in construction)
