You just described me dude, although I was at university and it was a little earlier, 1993...fucking epic grooving to shit this good in the comfort of your own solitude....
Grew up in central Fla about 80miles Tampa and was and still am a HUGE death metal. There was a music shop called Aces record and tapes or some shit like that to us it was just Aces the owner Frank did A TON for the death metal scene and you'll see him thanked in like every CD from all the Tampa bands and pretty much every other big death metal band the late 80s. But before every show most of the bands would just hang at aces sometimes they would have signings but that was rare. Obituary would hang there partially because their then guitarist James Murphy worked there. We'd go down there to buy music snd bullshit with James Murphy, Chuck S from Death(R.I.P) Trevor from Obituary about what bands they were listening to. Ive seen MA 5 or 6 times all in Tampa. Same line up Trey, David, Richard and Pete. A tear just rolled down my cheek when I read that Pete "Found God"????? Damn I don't mind loosin a few from time to time its really expected but Damn it Man that guy was a machine a absolute machine. All the local guys when Trey was talked about all of them respected him as a guitarist. I hadn't seen any of this new stuff before but Trey is still one of the best at doing what he does other than that its all unfamiliar, I still love the old stuff, think it sounds better than the new stuff but im a stuck-in-my-ways, mid 40s, stubborn, I could go on for days but I wont
I remember Ross Dolan thanking some people named Frank and Ace in the sleeve of Dawn of Possession. Is that who they were talking about? Old Roadrunner/ Roadracer Records alumni.
The old stuff IS a lot better than the new stuff, it's not just because it was the music we grew up with. From a musical theory standpoint, a lot of the new stuff sounds like they take what could be really good material, run it through a meat grinder, and just lay the tracks out as it comes out of the grinder. There isn't enough thought given to structure, and not enough time given to flesh out the material to make it great. The effort to "be different" is more important than being good. That's not to say I haven't heard some good modern metal(various sub genres), it's just far and few between, and certainly not the epic metal overload from every goddamn direction the 90s were.
I met Trevor peres in Newcastle England some 20 years ago. He was the most chilled mellow dude I've ever met. So different to the way he looks in the band photos 😆
You're not wrong, and not stuck in your ways man ...this is the shit. First generation death metal bands making music that is still the best in the genre some 30 plus years later. It doesn't get any better than this.
@azforu29 YEAH man it sure was. It was Aces Records and Frank was the owner. I was about 60 miles from that side of Tampa growing up andd we had to go right by the exit on the was to where the bulk of the shows were played back then(The Ritz in Ybor City) so we'd stop and like I said James Murphy worked there and talk with him. We kinda got to know oneanother because back then not too many people took a 80mile one way trip to see those guys so they REALLY appreciated it.
The whole album is a Death Metal masterpiece. It gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it, and still does. The guitar solo at 2:19 is so epic that it blows my mind every time I hear this song.
Ah you think so too ? I didn't think it was a big deal among listeners, as the main riff is so crushing, this part may've been underappreciated. It sounds like an invocation is happening or something, it's solemn and dark at the same time.
I've listened to so much morbid angel I'm not sure how many hours domination and covenant are my favorite albums ive never agreed with the lyrics but the vocals and the guitars is where it's at 👌
Goddamn this song!!!! That opening riff of that song is the sign to spark that fat blunt and praise the Sumerian gods. This was that age when some black metal and death metal really couldnt be told apart when it came to these evil heretic riffs that sounded like its invocating the chants of the mysterious one from yonder.
@@megatedassaultituary6783 Haha yes my bro, that incredible descending to the absu music of Morbid. What beautiful recording by Fleming Rasmussen of all people
@@SN-sk8co Dude that is one of my fave tones/albums EVa! Trey is a true experimental psychedelic hippie Lizard kIng incarnate paving the way for true innovation, if you notice he looks like Jim Morrison when he's not looking like Pete Sandoval. I wouldn't be surprised if he shapeshifted into Cthulhu whilst recording that. All the stuff on Formulas and Covenant and Heretic. total acid madness dripping from the skull and bones, I think He 100% channeled Jimi Hendrix on that one, Fleming did an amazing job preserving true rawness. Only the gods would've made it happen. I think the only other dude to ever get such tones out of people is Ross Robinson. He's known to use all vintage amps and recording gear for those 90s albums, I knew deep down about the Asag vibe inherent within those tones....surely my suspicions were confirmed when I found out they were fans of Morbid! :D xD I just wish he should've worked on just one more follow up album to Heretic this time teaming up with Ross Robinson, before Morbid kinda dissipated into the mid 2000s. That would'ev been a definite hallmark moment for sure. But I'm grateful eitherway can't get enough of \FFF/
20 yrs ago morbid angel played with slayer pantera and soulfly. killer show. i seen this band at least 10 times. so loud and brutal. they should tour with dethklok. ha!!
Saw them on that tour as well. Soulfly brought out kegs on stage and the guys from pantera came out and they all did a bad ass tribal drum thing. Fuckin awesome show.
@@anarkritegoblin7242 I saw morbid angel pantera slayer soulfly show as well and the second installment morbidangel skrape static x slayer pantera, both shows were really good. I got a dime pick that night and made out with some random chick. One of the best 1 year periods of my life saw a lot of bands that year.
This was the best fucking album of Morbid Angel with David Vincent wish he wouldn't left Morbid Angel but Steve Tucker dose badass in Gateways of Anilations if spelling messed up p I am too drunk fucked up in the head but this album is the best of Morbid Angel was covenant anyone says different then you never been to a Morbid angel concert when he realized this album I did at brick by brick off of union and backon street in San Diego
Before Pete became a born again Christian, saying he had no food memories with the band. Yet also saying there were too many crazy stories touring/party to tell to an interviewer.
They fucked everything up, me, you, all of us... I am Raphael, the Archangel of Long Suffering... Because I had to prove Jesus wrong to prove everything to be waiting for an answer...
Nice memories of before and still Happy to be placed my blood write in that others will enjoy that's never bin don in human beings history in hopes of used correctly and those after will enjoy it as well as being part of it as my child to those after Evan though argumentative to perhaps people shouldn't have
You don't want to get bothered by silly fucking ads before songs on RU-vid? Then hope that more bands make songs with titles like this one. No advertiser in their right mind is going to want their product associated with a World of Shit!
There always has to be one worthless piece of shit to show up at good posts like this&show their true ignorance&stupidity&its obvious twisted95 that your that one here....
