I have a pair of m20s, compared them to my dad's Mission speakers which I always thought sounded great on his hifi but they turned out to be over bassy and extremely restrained with their presentation, the m20s had much tighter bass and opened up so much more detail that I wonder how my dad lived with his Missions for over 20 years
I don't think that Mordaunt-Short exist any more. Such a shame as Mordaunt-Short, KEF and Celestion all made great speakers back in the day. Now only KEF make domestic hi-fi speakers. Celestion, I believe, owned by the same group as KEF, have gone into commercial set ups.
I know, sorry ☹️ I had my camera plugged in to the mains, didn't realise till I went to edit the terrible buzz all the way through 🙄 I now only use my camera on battery since that incident 👍
they'll be probably rebranded as they are both owned by Audio Perfection, this happens a lot. if you get a Denon micro with the matching speakers in a bundle, they're Denon branded but Mission made. happens with cars too, just look at Vauxhall and Opel, both owned by GM, same cars but different badges
The old vintage MS20 made in the 1980s were a nice sounding speaker, but not to be confused with the MS20i which came out after, however the vintage MS20 are now very sort after since their debut in the 80s. I STILL have my MS200 made in 1968 they are beauties, they will give any modern day speaker a run for their money.
Hey recording them Mordaunt-Short M20's and after that going through the RU-vid compression and on decent headphones... Sounds pretty good, but you know what? A real test needs to be done with ears in the same room... How about you send me them? :P Seriously though, I am about to buy some, so I do hope they are good, I have been using Gale's for the last 25 years, so at least I know they will be better then the ones I already have :)
🤣😂🤣 cheers 👍 don't think i had my mic plugged in all the way, or the Comica mic amp was picking up the LED light buzz as it was clamped to the stand 🙄🙄😒😒 Cheers for watching 👍😁
they really aren't, my dad has some mission 700s from the early 00s (they keep recycling model numbers, i think they're 2nd gen, they got 4/5 in What HI-FI back in the day) and they sound boxy and restrained by comparison, the bass is overblown and the sound staging is very narrow with a lack of focus on the finer detail. the M20s are an improvement in every way
😂🤣😂🤣 I worked out why there was a humm a few weeks later! I had my camcorder plugged in to the mains and it caused the humm on the audio 🙄 Works fine when running off the battery. Thanks for watching 👍😉
