Odette and I continue our journey in the Black Forest region, and find more hotels that have succumbed to time and the demands of modern tourists. Before leaving Switzerland, we stop and see a brewery that looks like a castle - which brews a very famous beer in Switzerland. Feldschlösschen Bier. Also I found some images of how the 'Lost Hotel' from previous videos, looked back in the day - complete with the same old porcelain tiled wood burner (Kachelofen) that is still there today! @ 9:18 I said it was a memorial to fallen soldiers of WW2, actually it was the First World War.
Truly a lovely building. We would have modernized those building. It is so nice to look old towns. Thanks for sharing your vacation. Have fun Oddie and Oddette !!!!🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃💜😇🌸🎃
Hi Oddie!!!!Thank u for another video of the black forest.I love the old architecture of these old places.I love house u tell the history & show the old postcards of what the places used to look like.I wish u could have gone in some of the places not just the outside.I'm so sorry u got sick from the food in the 1 town.I love ur videos & I can't wait till the next time my friend
Imagine spending the night in one of these hotels. Riding up in a horse drawn carriage, reading by the fire, walking in the forest...Thank you. I love the architecture. 💜
Thank you Oddy!! I am from the U.S. I am Hunkpapa Lakota (Sioux). My grandfather (Non-Indigineous) used to tell me that his father's family came from the Black Forest. I am loving this tour!!! Such a beautiful area!! The old hotels are so amazing and intriguing.
Greetings from Eugene Oregon. I truly enjoy watching your videos. I broke my foot 3 1/2 months ago. My son set me up with a Roku in my room to watch RU-vid while I convalesce. I look forward every day to ObsoleteOddity. Your topics are intriguing, thrilling , very entertaining and full of great historic information. You have done a exceptionally beautiful job with your videos. I love the narration- You have the perfect voice for it. Bravo and well done. It just might save my sanity during this Odd Time...
Oh Oddie! Thanks so much to you and Oddette for taking me on this amazing journey! Places I'll never go excepting through your generosity. Godspeed and safe travels in all your adventures!
Hi Oddie......I'm an old fan.....I caught the Jewish star on the opening shot of the video, the Star of David in the bush on the steeple. Being a Jew myself we are taught to be observant (no pun intended) of things like that. I love all your videos ....................... be well !
In the collapsing hotel, the old timbers and bricks are a work of art. Imagine the hands that formed and baked those bricks, the hands that felled those trees and formed those timbers. God rest their souls, the souls of hard working men.
Oddy I absolutely love your stories and images. As I get more and more housebound I can go and live vicariously with the gorgeous scenery you and Oddette get to see! Thank you always for you uploads!
I truly think that buildings are alive and that's why they fall apart when people aren't using them. They become lonely, depressed, and this they die. I've always thought that even as a child and as I get older, I'm more convinced
I sit and watch - half in jealousy and half in adoration- with the fact you get to travel and see all of these lovely places. Please continue and don't mind my envious post. Lol much love!!
Take heart my friend! It's not all as lovely as you imagine - most of the time I'm either stuck at my job working, or in front of a computer getting eye-strain and RSI :) Thanks for your kind feedback - very much appreciated.
I've been watching your show for 2 years now I've always loved history and always wondered what it would be like to live in those days and yours Channel makes me feel like I'm back in that era and when you go to those antique places those are awesome you are to be commended sir keep up the good work
Thanks Oddie and Oddett. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed traveling in the past. We are up in years now and just can’t do it anymore. But your videos are an awesome experience in themselves. We live in Texas and there isn’t a lot of really ancient history here. Keep taking us places please.
Oddie, I must say that I absolutely love these tours of old buildings and the fact that you did not go the route of only looking for old hospitals and such for the creepy factor. The places you have shown us thus far have been so beautiful, even in their decayed states. Thank you-and Odette- so much for sharing your travels with us :-)
I agree, I become relaxed upon hearing his voice and calm surroundings..reminding me to take time in life it's not a race..I feel that "American culture" has spread around the world some how and to go back to nature is best and I always feel my best when enjoying exploring the world not trying to keep up with it all..I feel at home in old worlds and it feels comfortable..
Wow!! Thank you for another wonderful video Oddie. I'm just getting to see this at 11:30 pm. You & Oddette were busy ! The views were beauitful. Sad to see the hotels like that. It's a shame the buildings couldn't have been kept up and used in other ways. I was on a live stream for almost 3 hrs, as one of the moderators on a ghost hunt. (JPVIDEOS) They were in Pennsylvania where a mine disaster happened. The miners were forced by the mine owners to mine coal way too close under the river, only 5 feet below the river and it caved in and 13 miners were killed, many others barely escaped. Near the end of the video they were doing a sprit box chat when we heard a loud THUMP!! No one else was out there ! There was a black shaddow thing seen ...Well it took almost another half hr for Jay & Alan to get back to there car. If was a trip! I only had to delete 5 comments, it's pretty family friendly. I get to 'watch' the videos afterwords, cause during the video you mostly read the comments, duh😉 (Almost 12 am, I have 5 or 6 hrs of church tomarrow. Bell ringing time soon.) Thank you again for the cool video!!! Now you need a vacation FROM the vacation.
Just so very interesting. I must admit it hurts a little to see these landmarks decaying away. Such beautiful structures. Thank you so so much for taking us along on your adventures. You must spend hours filming and editing. Many thanks.
Thank you so very much for a great video! You are a great ambassador for the region. How wonderful that you found postcards for a few of the hotels, especially the one featured in 2 of your videos. I loved hearing you laugh a few times throughout this one. It shows us how much you thoroughly enjoy travelling and recording. Have a super weekend. x
Thank you, Oddie, once again. It is so nice to go back in time for a bit and forget our everyday life we deal with today. The countrysides we will probably never see, we can see in YOUR videos. You make me feel like I am almost there, sometimes.
You bring me comfort at the worst time in my life. I'll never be able to see the beautiful things you've seen, my son is an addict and breaks my heart, daily. But through you, I get to see these beautiful things. So thank you. You have no idea. ❤
Wonderful vid, Oddy. The architecture is stunning, so nice to see the post cards so we have a before & after view. It's so interesting to get to see these places, & your narrative makes it even better.
WOW another great building! When I see these old abanded buildings I try to picture what they must have been like when they were new!! Beautiful job as as always! Oh I'm a pattern now! Im SO excited! Thank you for all you do! Fasinanting! 😚
Awww it’s truly amazing how much he I've learned & you have gotten me in to some french article! ( From the episode with the girl in the bathtub) .. she was beautiful for her time, love red hair! It's so unique .. anyway I can babble on all day! & The dollhouse murders!she was VERY creative & genius! Have a wonderful rest of your week & hello to everyone😊😊😊
Thank you for the detailed description . Splendid video, Oddie . This old woman is bloomin delighted that she didn't go to bed too early !!! Muchious gratsheous , bless you . ❤️
It is so beautiful and so clean ... I just love to visit Switzerland my gosh...thank you for sharing with us that live in small isolated northern canadian town🙏
Hello Oddbod and Odette. You are having a good time both of you :) So sad to see all the beautiful buildings now unloved. How times change, certainly not for the better, at times :) Enjoy yourselves, thank you for the video. Hugs to you both x
I wish for a time machine so I could go back to the time of that postcard. I can just imagine the warmth of the fire and people while sipping my brandy but would probably be considered a scandalous woman for drinking brandy in a public house unchaperoned. Still ...
wow look at this building and in the perfect setting in the forest how did i miss this while there this is worth a second trip over just photographed so well brings out the beauty of the landscape, great job, love to you and odette
ODETTE I'M 1 OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS. I LIVE IN THE USA AND HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE MOST WONDERFUL PARTS OF THE WORLD. WHEN I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS I'M RIGHT THERE WITH YOU. THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, THANKS FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO TO TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH YOU. GOD BLESS YOU. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHARE YOUR TRAVELS WITH ALL OF YOUR OLD/NEW FANS.
Thanks Oddy for another interesting tour! I love them as much as your stories. I can see places I can never dream of visiting in person, and the chance to see beautiful parts of Europe. Thank you so much, keep them coming!
What beautiful scenery! I'm so glad that you shared this with all of us. I'm delighted with how much information about the area that you provide it's quite wonderful! Thank you so much.
So beautiful and charming. Thank you for all your videos. I haven't been able to go back to Switzerland or Germany for almost 40 yrs. and truly miss Europe.
What a great trip to take today... really enjoyed walking around the various places with you and Oddette. The architecture is so detailed, intricate - nothing like modern buildings. Thank You!
I always love traveling with you both , so many treasures and wonderful places to discover by you side After the last war, my grand-father stayed in black forest to recover after passing and surviving the gas chamber in Buchenwald. I never knew the name of the place he stayed, and walking with you I imagine that one of those hotels could have been his home for a time. thanks
Amazing buildings! Oh if only those walls could talk. Imagine the stories! I hate seeing them falling into shambles. But time passes and things change. Thank you for taking us on your with you Oddie. Loved seeing the old post cards. Great vid as always ♥️♥️
That's a huge brewery, uniquely built. Love the way some of the old buildings look. Beautiful views. Interesting before and after shots of the hotel in the Black Forest. Travel safely Oddie.
Oh oh I think in San Jose the Winchester mystery house is a cool one but I'm scared of that place my mum took me there when I was 9 yr then again when I was 15 still scared the crap out of me you could feel the spirits
so weird, i remember as a child people talking about taking vacations to the black forest, sometimes only to get a cuckoo clock, it seemed to be very popular back in the 60's, now you don't hear anyone talking about going there? ty for taking us w/you oddie!
When you gave us a tour of the hotel that you stayed in I had a very real tugging in my heart. A yearning to return. The communal long dining tables stood out. I had almost forgotten the fun of dining with strangers in traditional restaurants. That would not work in most of the USA. Sometimes in bars, but everyone is a beer or two ahead and more open! Thanks!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing! In the very first shot of the building, at the beginning of the video, a Star of David comes into view at around 0:09. You zoomed in on it at 0:17. It's hidden in what looks like a circle of leaves or greenery. It was one of the first things that popped out at me, after the obviously ornate architecture, and the Swiss flag. I don't know if you began the video at the front of the building, but wherever you were, it was right at the top.
