lol thats always done my head in setting them up, Columbia will tell you to give it rock tapetech say no rock and push the end of the blade out more, you would think someone has made a on site vid by now on this it can be very frustrating, plus those tiny lil allen key studs are so easy to round off

😂 Ames Tool Company was the *original taping tool company and the original instructions to angle taping was use the 3" head on taping skimmer and run the 2" on the finish coat ... this shocks me anyone did it backwards and i cant imagine using the smaller head on tape coat 😇🤔

If you push a little harder with the roller, your angles will really turn out good with bigger to smaller. In other words, inbed the tape more before flushing.

VIEWER REQUEST: Okay, maybe this viewer request is stupid but - cleaning tools. How clean is worth the work? Do you clean the handles or just chip them down when they get too fat? Is there a trick to a quick easy cleaning? Okay, even more important.. . how much drywall mud can you safely wash down a drain? Is it okay to wash it down once it's dry little chunks but not when it's still wet? Is it okay to wash a little down but not too much? Is it okay if you chase it with enough water to flush it through? In the summer I wash everything outside with the hose set to highest pressure but it is winter now (well below freezing) so that solution isn't an option. Should I be religious about washing everything in a bucket and dumping the bucket outside?

Must be tough, because in 35 yrs I rarely see square anything in a house...new or remodel, it just doesn't happen that often....too many variables and especially when dealing with wood framing......commercial with steel studs probably more consistent.....from framing to setting cabinets its hard to find true af square walls floor to ceiling I am sure angle heads have few degrees of play which helps I hung crown moulding for along time and it was odd to find true 90 degree walls....we have tricks and acct for it but if everything was true, plumb and square construction would be easy (like the TV shows. Lol)

I too have tried it 3.5 then 2.5. Was told they are designed to work that way but I ran into problems. Scaring and scratching mostly. Went back to the way that makes sence to me. Maybe I did something wrong I don't know. Just gonna stick with what works (for me).

Hey Doc, I'm with you - I'm running my 2 1/2" for glazing and my 3 1/2" for the finish skim. Besides less sanding on the edges, I've had issues with the 3 1/2" head grabbing tape from my butts and flats before it has had a chance to fully adhere to the walls. I do like the way that the 3 1/2" head skims out though - beautiful. You did have me scratching my head for a while there though... Cheers sir!
