How to get more accuracy and precision into your shots. A common question with many different answers and aspects. In this episode of 3 minutes of badminton I want to give you two tips, how you can get more consistency into your game.
Besides many repitions that are nescesarry i think it is key to create situations that will make it easier for you to reproduce you trained shot patterns. This is what my 2 tips are mainly about:
--Overview-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here a short overview about the different sections and topics in the video:
0:00 Introduction
0:26 Starting Position
1:28 Footwork Timing
2:46 Outro
-- Additional information ------------------------------------------------------------------
In the video i talk about the starting position for front court and rear court shots. Here it is important to understand, that there is no perfect position that you should aim for, but there are a few guidelines i want to point out:
Frontcourt:
- Hand above the racket (Racket points slightly downwards)
- loose grip
- raise non-racket arm for more stability
- open racket (strings point towards the shuttle)
Rearcourt:
- Elbow behind the body
- between 45 and 90° in the elbow
- shoulder axis poitning upwards (dominant shoulder lower than the other one/"tilt")
- rackethead not to far away from your body
- raise non-racket arm for more stability
About the second tip: So many years I tried to put my foot down, as early as possible because I also thought that it will give me more control but the opposite was the case. Especially the lenght and precision of my lifts was terrible and I couldn't get any consistency into it. Then a coach told me I should put the foot down at the same time as I hit the shuttle and that was a complete game changer. Suddenly I had so much more control and stability in my shots and it was easier to reproduce my shot patterns from the technical training.

Hey Tobias, I really liked this video. I've got a question, How do you defend against the smashes that are hit close from the net?, How should I practice this and what are the main points to be remembered?
@tobiaswadenka8435
@tobiaswadenka8435 3 года назад
What you mean by smashes close from the net? You really mean smashes from shorter distance or killing shots at the net? Both is very hard to defend and you need to be lucky that your opponent plays you right into your racket
@AtAGlimpse_UB
@AtAGlimpse_UB 3 года назад
@@tobiaswadenka8435 Thanks a lot for the response Tobias... And, yes, I actually meant smashes from shorter distances or killing shots. What I do is just keep the racket in backhand grip and, as you said, if lucky, i can hit it. Keep making GREAT VIDEOS thanks!!!!

I have been told that bending arm a little in the elbow when playing drop shots increases accuracy, is it correct? Reasoning is that you are not reaching for the shuttle with straight arm and you play it more relaxed. I see it in top players like Momota, Ginting etc but so far I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on RU-vid bedminton tutorials I think.

My trainer always told us to watch the shuttle while hiting and keep your eyes on the racket head afterwards for just a short time. You can identify how you hit the shuttle way better and control it much more easily. In my experience it makes a huge difference. Sometimes I forget about it and wunder why I do so many miss hits :)

What string LBS is best for power smash ? Please answer me. I am waiting for your reply.
@hafieyfiey5392
@hafieyfiey5392 4 года назад
It depends on yourself, whether you can handle the tensions of the strings or not. If you can handle up to 30 lbs or above and plays exactly absolutely fine with the string tension, it may be the correct tension of strings that suited you.
@hafieyfiey5392
@hafieyfiey5392 4 года назад
If you knew Indonesian player, Praveen Jordan, his power smash are powerful, player that usually had a powerful smash usually used 30 lbs or above to do so and the correct ways of smashes. Again, it also depend whether you can correctly handled the tensions of the strings or not.
