Yes, all too often people attempt to cover up their lack of intelligence by using foul language! This only compounds the problem showing how limited vocabulary they really have...
It's nice to see a artist make his dream come to life. I think this truck has more of you personal touches done to it and in one color does changes it up a bunch.
I find it Cringeworthy watching Brent do bodywork...lol. When Brent says " bodywork SUCKS " , YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING TO FOLLOW. Like watching " flies around a honeypot", everywhere/nowhere and nothing gets finished. Brent has the skills but the application is not right ...." bondo Sucks " ... ok, lets try and finish one panel at a time instead of welding / grinding / Sucking / primer all in one vid. Housekeeping is atrocious as well. BRENT , WE STILL LUV YA BUT ..... Rant over.
For the contours at the running boards and at the fender to the hood areas, you might consider using a pool noodle as a backer for the sandpaper. If you need to stiffen that up even more slide a piece of broom handle or a dowel inside the pool noodle. It should help you smooth the contours
Great start. Back in the day when bondo was not the quality it is today we used to take a rag soaked in thinner and wipe down our body work. Reveals pinholes so you can repair them before they show up in your primer.
Your exactly right Brent to do good bondo work you have to do it in sections. Instead of hoping around on it. Well to each his own. I feel like if I get one part straight then move on to the other side. Because once you get the first primer on it you'll see when you wet it with a spray bottle. People seem to think you can't paint over 80# grit you can with high build primer will cover all the little scratches.
Brent , You`ve got a Pontiac emblem on the glove box , It might look awesome to put a molding on the hood ,,, The water fall wide chrome emblem also ! 🙂 Just a idea !
You know I watch an awful lot of guys doing cars and in my mind out of all of them you're the best you do it all mechanical interior exterior fabricating painting keep them coming
I used to be in high rise construction and we used what they call a sweeping compound because when sweeping up you raise no dust. The compound consists of sawdust mixed with oil to accomplish a clean and dust proof job.
Nice work on the bodywork. It's a real pain and as you say perfection is not what you're after. It does look a lot nicer all in one colour. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
You say you don't like body work and I have to force myself to remember that you are a wizard and keep paying attention. That is unique to RU-vid videos--gifted craftsmen and women who disparage themselves when they are actually as good as anyone can get . . . Thank you for ALL of your content.
i have been watching for a few years now but this is the first time i have seen your process in preping for primer and i should have guessed that you were one of those guys that completely do everything the wrong way guys like you should never be allowed to own a spray gun period this is hackery 101 at its finest thanks for showing guys how not to do things
Every video, my truck gets closer to completion. It would be great if you were able to bring it to Motorama in Toronto next March so I could see my truck in person! Cheers!
Excellent video Brent :) when I did 1960 Jeep Cargo Van it took me 11 months get all parts , then body meet newer frame to and welding parts in also much more ! It was lots stressfull times too and when sandpaper plus primers and sandpaper to was lots hard hours even original fuel tank sealer on body that took 6 week to clean up and found original fuel could not use shame! But 2 years took me do up because was find and look for Junkyards find too near also much more couldn't get new from Chrysler Dealership because didn't make no more in production line to ! So was my skills on too do lots and but when completed was glad breathtaking! I bet say at times to yourself wow glad that done now and what leave out also next ! I not bragging on did Jeep one Brent and but was fun to do also boss had time own it also he wanted get done but told me never let working on slowly thru in steps!
In my previous job I had to fix fiberglass hoods on heavy machinery, body working complex shapes takes a keen eye and a gentle hand. You do a lot of good work for your art.
You're finding all these little things because you pay attention to detail that's why your customs turn out great you're not afraid to do bodywork, but you like your stuff to look good I'm so happy you didn't touch the wheel well openings this trucks looking better and better everytime you touch it
Amazing what a difference it makes just all being in primer.... got mine I'm primer too and the dash lol. I have one of those 2 inch DA sander it's freakin AWESOME for all the tight spots I highly recommend getting one makes the suck just a little less sucky....lol
That left rear cab corner could be the poster child for Bondo skim coats. Yes, it could have been body-worked to "smooth", but that would have required a lot more hours... The pickup looks really good now that it is mostly the same color...
I can't wait to see this completed! I hope you do all the details that will make it a true masterpiece! And I'm really looking forward to watching the '55 Buick Special come back to roadworthiness! I learned to drive on a '55 Buick Special almost exactly like Austin's. I'm saddened by the substitution of the Chevy motor, but I understand why he's doing it. Still, I'd bet the old Buick 322 and Dynaflow could have been brought back fairly easily assuming no serious damage was done to it in its previous life! The channel is nifty and I'm really enjoying it! All the best and may God bless!
One of the things I really like about this channel is hot-rod stuff, the second is the music! Every few episodes you introduce me to something new and I really dig that. This time it was the jam from somewhere around 4:30 to 7:00 and at the end. I watched ya sand the bottom of the drivers door half a dozen times lol. Thanks, I got to add a couple of new phrases to my guitar playin vocabulary👍
I never watched the 37 project but I started at the beginning and I'm working my way through them now you put a lot into that truck too this one is turning out great
I have to say you might do half assed work, but you do not have half assed music. Thank you for that. Most of the shows I watch are terrible thank you. Enjoy watching you very much.
Pablo always manages to show up when the work is done for the day... Like you I despise body work BUT your on the way.. Waiting for the day you take Pablo for a rip... Later...
