I had to look this up to verify this and sadly... it's true. I was hoping it wasn't. In 2020 and 2021 alone, firearms were responsible for 20% of all child and teen deaths in the US.

Fun, or I guess, not so fun fact. The AR-15 was developed for civilian use in the 50s and was converted for MILITARY use after military test trials that acknowledged that the rifle was formidable enough to be converted to a standard-service rifle now known as the M16. It doesn't matter that AR-15s are not "fully-automatic" or are not chambered for 30-06. The MILITARY saw it fit enough for use, which should tell you that this weapon is efficient at taking lives.

@@justicia_azul I trained on the M-16, and, believe me, it's designed solely for WAR, i.e, killing/disabling as many human beings as possible. Obviously, it will kill any animal, but it's definitely not a "hunting" rifle.

I’m glad I’m still alive too, but every day watching the number of childhoods stolen by gun violence get higher and higher while no one with power does anything to stop it… I can’t describe how it feels to watch more and more kids go through losing their classmates and teachers and friends, losing their lives. I haven’t experienced a Fourth of July or New Years holiday unmedicated since 2015 because the fireworks are everywhere and they trigger my PTSD and I know there are hundreds of thousands of people around the country who also hit the deck when they hear a firecracker or a car backfire. And the people with power just don’t care. When I was 15 and doing school shooter drills I thought surely, within a few months, the government would do something to protect us. Kids need to be protected, not failed like I and thousands of other have been failed.

I survived a shooting at work also, didn't think I was making out that day BUT I did!! I'm curious about the stars in your birth chart. Being able to relate to this level of violence and survive to tell about it (and serve others) is a powerful thing. I don't agree with assault rifles and loose gun laws (look at the states, too much authority to choose laws there) but I do agree with responsible parents like myself being able to own a hand gun to protect myself and home and young children. My kids are trained in gun safety but I homeschool them now because... well, I can't take the risk of anything happening to them and me not being there or not being able to get to them in an instant. I also think it’s very smart and you’re a good parent for homeschooling your kids since it protects them from potential school shootings. However, you really ought to look into the studies and data for instances of domestic gun violence. Instances of someone successfully defending themselves in their homes with a firearm are so rare that there aren’t enough cases to represent a trend and they are essentially statistic outliers. Unfortunately the statistical trend shows without a doubt that owning a gun actually increases your likelihood of your or someone you live with being shot. For example, women who live with a gun owner are 5 times more likely to be shot than women who do not. Children who’s parents own guns are 6 times as likely to be shot than those who’s parents don’t. And before you think “that’ll never happen to me and my family because we’re responsible gun owners” you’re probably right. 5 out of every 6 children don’t get shot with their parents weapons. 1 out of 5 women don’t get shot with their spouse’s weapon. The problem is that responsible gun ownership alone is not enough to prevent someone in your home from being irresponsible. You’d be shocked to know just how many women and children that make up these statistics were shot by accident, or even more tragically, it was self inflicted. The fact is that by owning a gun, you guarantee that a there is ALWAYS a deadly weapon in your home and that someone could use it to kill. I don’t think you’re irresponsible with your guns. But the facts don’t lie. The fact is that there is only a 66% chance that your children will never experience an instance of domestic gun violence. 33% chance that they will be harmed by the guns in your home. And less than 1% chance that the use of your firearms will ever protect you or your children. Which means that the guns you own are a 33 times bigger threat to your family than a potential attacker. Those are bad odds to bet on which is why I’ll never allow a gun in my home and I will always support the abolition of the second amendment. If you still disagree with me after you consider all that I’ve told you, I respect that. But I do hope you do at least consider it and look into how private gun ownership increases your personal risk. I genuinely hope that gun violence never harms you or your family ever again. It’s is what I wish for all people, regardless of whether or not they agree with me.

I believe people who feel the need to possess ASSAULT weapons are afraid of themselves being discovered to be empty vessels afraid of the evil inside them. Kenia had a total abortion ban a few years ago and the course of death number one for women in the fertile age, became death during pregnancy, because of complications and because of trying themselves. Kenia learned from it. In the rest of the Christian world abortion is allowed or better say not punished under certain circumstances just for that reason. Women of all ages, all religions, rich and poor, do it anyway and many died and the babies with them. They are liars and hypocrites. In the red states the woman dying being pregnant already went up from 6 women dying within 100000 life births to 45 women dying during or one year after getting a baby, because of the letting women without docotors doing their job. Also more babies died since the abortion ban in the red states.

The right always says “well if they can’t get guns they’ll somehow find a new way to commit violence” Which in some ways might be true- as you said- But the whole point of gun control is harm reduction, it’s easier to subdue a person with a knife than a person with a semi-automatic rifle. The police don’t even make it on time before multiple people die. At least if it was just a knife you could easily outnumber the perpetrator- you wouldn’t be gunned down before you even got close.

We have the same experience now in Germany, I do not think this happens accidentaly now in these times. When we have hate mongering misinformation, other countries have hate mongering for some political or greed interests misinforming to get hate in peoples hearts or for their own personal grifting.

The people who allow this gun nonsense to proliferate know that they and their loved ones are safe from feeling the effects of this nonsense. They are rich and powerful and they don't shop at Walmart; their kids go to super safe private schools. Think about that.

They don't even seem to care when it IS one of their kids. It's insane.

My son is active Navy and he holds a rifle when his boat come back to port; imagining my boy standing watch on a nuclear sub is hard to do. He's so fckn brave, 22 years old, and so gentle and caring and giving towards his younger siblings. Knowing there are men like him in this world gives me hope. But, yes, mental health care and standing strong in opposition to the ignorance and evil in the world, this is a MUST! I'm in it to win it, along with my four children (two grown men, two elementary aged). Yup, active shooter drills were common at their school in Florida. I am homeschooling now, as a single mother. Where there's a will, there is a way!! No excuses, we must do better!

@@tomcrawford2350 The message that I got came from an acct with the same or similar name as this one and it was asking me to message her at Telegraph or telegram, some messaging app… Because I’m old af, didn’t realize it right away, so said to my 20 yo daughter, “why would she want me to message her….” And my kid, who often sees through these things before I do said, “she doesn’t, that’s a scammer.” Thank god she keeps me in check. 😂
