Thanks for the review! I have 3 of the Colbors. Their build quality is excellent-- the only metal lights of the bunch. An interesting quirk is the bi-color version is basically as powerful as the daylight... and there's very little fluctuation in output as you move through the color temperature range (which is unusual). The lack of umbrella mount is frustrating-- I made my own solution for that-- but you can attach three of them together and they'll fit into one case... along with their power cords. The color temperature is also surprisingly accurate, within 100 degrees for both the bicolor and daylight versions. It's quickly become one of my favorite lights, and I've got a lot of different ones.

I have 2 of the Godox ML60s and don't mind the form factor or the even spread of light. Actually, when you need to light up a space in which people are moving around, the even spread actually works to your benefit. I've used these to light up a dance floor to record dance recitals, although I needed to use an ISO of 3200. At some point, though, I may want to get something more powerful, probably in the 200w range. No rush on that, however.

I have learned so much by you that with the minimum gadgets get the best result. Thanks

Ordered ZSYBN CL60Bi due to price - 71 USD, separately got fresnel lens and will test out the set together with MT-49 Ulanzi carbon stands. Compared to quadralite Thea 450 with - it should cut the weight by 80%(!) and add focused power. Cheers and keep up the awesome work, I think you did not give ZSYB enough attention, they are so cheap, yet NP-F are mounted on top (instead of those atrocious handle-like NP-F battery adapters, usually paid separately.

Thank you for all of your efforts and a fun channel. I learn a lot from it. It seems like it would be better to just have the lights plug into a central 12 or 24 volt battery on the ground instead of putting all of that battery weight up on the poles. I build small power systems with 24 volt packs ( very common in the marine world) and it's really easy and eliminates so many battery packs.

Hi Markus - i have been doing this for about a year and when i started, i had no idea how excited i would get about light & shadow. And thank god i found you - i thought i was strange that i loved lighting so much... you are an inspiration.... my question..... in my setup up i take photos and video at the same time. i use Panasonic cams for video and lumix s5 for photo. can you suggest a good in-between lighting set up using a 3/4 light set-up..... SPACE IS A PREIUM so think of a box room. Please keep up the great work

I absolutely love your channel! You have such great authentic non biased reviews. Have you checked out the Yongnuo YN-216 led video light? There’s a 5600K model and a bi-colored 3200K-5600K, and it can take a Sony NP-F battery, dc power, and AA batteries for power.

I've discovered your channel while trying to find real life and unsponsored reviews. Excellent resource so hats off to you. I am really interested in the Colbor lights and was considering the 100x but can't find any independent review that compares the CL60 and CL100x. I see that you touched very briefly at the end of the video about there not being so much difference between them. Would very much appreciate it if you elaborate on this point as the difference in price between them is not that much and to my mind it may be better to get the X100 for that little bit of extra output. (I will be using the light through a softbox so wondering if that little extra would help. Many thanks and keep up the great work.

Very great and informative video review of different lights, especially the portable and ones small in size really helpful for traveling. Great video breaking down different options and their pros and cons. Regarding the ZYSB-CL60 light, Can I ask your opinion if this light at full power can just light a backlit subject in the shade with the sun behind them just starting to set or nearing golden hour? With no modifiers just bare bulb and reflectoer, considering it's just 3 stops less bright than the Amaran Anyways great video, keep up the great work, God bless

Sometimes I don't get access to AC and I will need the light running on batteries for 30-40 minutes and I want to get the most out of it...thanks!

hey Markus, now that you're talking about power, would you do a video on power alternatives for cameras? I mean, when you need to do long shootings (like events) and you have to carry like 10 batteries. I'm looking into the Tethertools on Site relay, and the SmallRig adapter for powerbank (can't remember the model number). Seems like powerbanks for powering cameras is a thing now. I've seen that you can power the camera, an external monitor and a led lamp with just one for about 3 hours.

So are you just saying the amaran is brighter in all these situations because of throw? But what if you do put it in a softbox? That would be nice to know what the difference is especially in the zhiyun review.

Have you tried the wellmaking in a bowens mount softbox? Wondering if the fresnel head prevents it from adequately spreading the light across the diffuser.

Godox is from China I believe so the Amaran is technically Chinese too. In fact maybe most brands for pro lighting are manufacturing in China. Basically, for most products it is the brand that sells the product more than ita qualities it feels to me. I remember back in 2017-2018 when Godox were way cheaper before they became a well-known brand and they still provided goos quality for the price.

📌 Hi Markus, Thanks for another great video review. You currently show the Cobol in 2 videos and because this info is quite important for other prospective buyers, I'm posting this comment for both. I mainly bought the video light because of the USB option, because connecting it to a power bank seemed ideal to me. I already had enough video lights, but without a USB connection. However, no USB power bank works with the Cobol, because it turns out to be no ordinary USB. This is because it is a 20-volt USB connection and to supply it with 5.2 volts, you need quite a few amps. Fortunately I bought the model with a V-mount and I think I will buy a V-mount battery. These are quite expensive and that is why I have to look closely at which model it will be. A small disappointment perhaps, but fortunately there are many possibilities nowadays and there is a solution for everything. You will also lose your money if you are not careful. BTW it's great to see the enthusiasm of you and your wife. Because of this I have to watch out, because the temptation is great for me to buy too much. In addition, Amazon quickly increases prices after your video and the pricing in the Netherlands is already about 30% higher. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and tips. I am not able to remove the Bowen's mount by unscrewing it off without the plastic lens falling off (it's held in place through the Bowens mount). A 100W incandescent bulb makes around 6W worth of light. So if there is any truth to their claims, it's more likely a 6W or 10W LED in the first one. 60W from two camcorder batteries would only give you around an hour at full power.
